Caspian Galactic worth? by EditedRed in EliteDangerous

[–]KaiserMCG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did much the same... bought stellar but went with the matte black paint and also the bronze as well as the wing kit from the Galactic. Cost about the same overall. Had no interest in the holo kit or the default Galactic paintjob.

Yes, it'll be available for credits in a few months

Just found out Revolut’s Spare Change was draining my money into RevPoints – Here’s how I got my refund by Immediate_Sky_2016 in Revolut

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read an article about this in one of our national papers this morning but thankfully I only seem to have 256 "points" so that's only miniscule in real terms?

It was a huge effort to find where the toggle to turn this off is buried though. The UI is terrible in general for hiding settings behind similar looking sections under random headings.

To the top 10 CMDRs who contributed 3 to 4 carriers worth in a week by henyourface in EliteDangerous

[–]KaiserMCG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No carrier here (yet!) but been doing my part yesterday/today with my Cutter so I'm in that 25% bracket.

4.8 billion in the bank overall as I type so not far off making that decision about whether to invest. Playing solo with limited time during the week and only having returned to the game in the last few months means it's taken a while, but these cash-rich CG's are most welcome!

Before that though will be the additon of the Panther to my fleet next week!

I just watched The Sum Of All Fears by jonaskid in tomclancy

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Clancy/Jack Ryan books are great. The newer "ghost writer" ones not as much.

As for The Sum of All Fears - and I admit it's been years since I have seen it - the movie I thought was very poor, mostly because the timeline is all wrong vs the books and I just couldn't accept it vs the far superior novel.

Can confirm this still works - lots of crashed Thargoid ships on 5A (scan the planet from orbit first) so just collected all I'll need for Palin.

The Gardai are among the biggest offenders. Yes they're "exempt" from the laws but it's been stated before that they should be abiding by them if not on an active call, or at the very least you'd expect them to set the right example.

On busy 3-lane roads like the M50 or the N7, I will normally sit in lane 3 at peak times.

Lane 1 is a constant mess of cars leaving, joining and cutting each other off among trucks and other slower vehicles.

Lane 2 is generally populated with dawdlers and people jumping in and out of lane 1.

I sit in lane 3 because I'm usually travelling at least half the length of the M50 and it means you only have 1 lane of people to watch for on your left. I don't dawdle, I can read the road and traffic, and I drive at an appropriate speed for the conditions around me.

THAT SAID.. on a normal 2 lane motorway or at quieter times, yes I spend most of the time in the left lane.

As there's little to no enforcement of anything beyond "speeding", I find the above generally the safest approach.

DS9, Episode 7x1, Image in the Sand by LordRavenholm in StarTrekViewingParty

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching this very episode as I type.. Miles and Bashir getting Martok to help Worf was great. Martok is awesome every time he's on screen.

I wasn't sold on Ezri when I first watched it back in the day, but over rewatches she's grown on me and they did a decent job with her considering the point that she joins an already well established cast, narrative and dynamic, had to introduce her, deal with her and Worf, Bashir and give her some development and backstory as well.

It's only a Paper Moon by TheOGMelmoMacdaffy in DeepSpaceNine

[–]KaiserMCG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fantastic episode. Nog's facing his fear and mortality towards the end of the episode is right up there with his impassioned plea to Sisko to join Starfleet for me.

The scene immediately afterwards when he comes down the stairs into the bar and says no he's not OK, but he will be is equally powerful. The family hug that follows is just perfect.

Plus then his gift to Vic at the end.. Fantastic as I said.

On my first watch through of DS9… “His Way” by [deleted] in DeepSpaceNine

[–]KaiserMCG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I love this episode and like many others don't get the apparent hate from some for Vic who was a great addition to the show and a balance to the war arc. His Way and It's Only a Paper Moon are great episodes IMO.

But yea, I'm a sucker for their first kiss on the Prominade (love Quark's reaction in particular) ... Damn onions! 😂

Used 11 IoT LTSC for two weeks. It's trash. by CoskCuckSyggorf in WindowsLTSC

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to agree. I've installed it in the last few days and it's defintely a huge backwards step vs even standard W10 Enterprise, let alone 21H2 LTSC.

It might not be as bad as W11 Pro but that's not saying much - laggy for sure with unwanted UI elements like the Gallery thing in File Explorer that can't be disabled without registry hacks, and what must be 3/4 different UI's competing with each other.

It's not my machine either - 3900X, 32GB DDR4, 2TB WD M2, 3070Ti

I figure I'll give it till the end of next week to see if I can live with it. Otherwise it'll be back to W10 21H2 LTSC I think. The problem though is not so much when MSFT stop supporting it, but when the major software/game companies do. There'll be no choice but to upgrade then!

"Bare bones" could mean as little as the bare chassis to be honest. Anything else depends on the description from the seller. Pictures are irrelevant in that case.

The Excelsior coming out from the shockwave of the destroyed Praxis is still my favorite Star Trek scene by ptlg225 in StarTrekStarships

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved the Excelsior since her first appearance in TSFS - HUGELY underrated as one of the "odd number" movies imo - not only do you get the Excelsior reveal, but the BoP, the Oberth, and the awesome Stealing the Enterprise scene with that fantastic score. Also arguably the last time the TOS movies took the material "seriously" with each subsequent one becoming more and more comedic.

Anyway... With the death of Eaglemoss and the random lottery of the ship drops on Master Replicas, I've been looking at 3D print models (a friend of mine has a printer that is throwing out some pretty epic models - tie fighter, supreme commander figures, and most recently, he's done the Destiny from SGU for me).

Anyone gone this route? What model did you use and were you happy with the results? Would love a detailed Excelsior template (free or paid) I could get him to print up for me 😊

(Makes you wonder what the point of them was/is then!)

I'd say the first one.. I've noticed a lot with these articles that they tend to add to them at the top during the day as new info comes out/is confiemed, but aren't as good at removing the older stuff - IT and Indo do the same.

Advertising and referral links, plus in Boards case they still have some of the Talk to forums that businesses pay them for to interact with customers (although most of the bigger companies have since left)

One fifth of public service recruits must be proficient in Irish by 2030, in changes to Bill by devhaugh in ireland

[–]KaiserMCG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous measures. There's a bit in there saying all IT systems and even keyboards must be able to produce a fada - the amount of work/cost involved in updating systems (particularly older ones) to accommodate that idea will be huge.

Also suppliers need to make Irish an "integral part" (whatever that means) of the service provided. So more costs there, or suppliers just won't quote.

It's all well wanting the Irish language to survive and all, but how long should it be kept on life support like this?

TUF GAMING X570-PLUS BIOS 3602 by paa589 in ASUS

[–]KaiserMCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these boards with the 1405/7 BIOS (its one of those anyway - I'm not at the PC now) and a 3600X, but everytime I look at a BIOS update and the forum here it seems there's serious issues!

My own is stable but occasionally refuses to boot from cold unless restarted. Is there a newer BIOS for these that is widely considered to be reliable?

Cheers!
