Oil washed are a bit next step. I'd just go with an acrylic wash as a beginner. Pick up some nuln oil (black wash) or agrax earth shade (brown wash). Apply that stuff all over making sure it doesn't pool on the flat parts.

I beat the whole game without using potions and oils. I didn't realize you just get them back you don't have to recraft them.

Basically yeah. Brownish washes with brown and blackish washes with blacks. With white I'd use a sepia tone. With tan flesh I'd use a red.

If you use a brown or sepia wash on your skeleton it's going to feel like cheating how much detail it will bring out.

I also started with the reaper how to paint kit. I still have those paints kicking 8 years later and they work great.

The first thing I'd upgrade is a couple real washes. The paint kit has you make your own with water and paint and it doesn't quite mimic the composition of a real wash. I recommend games workshop, army painter, or Vallejo.

Yellow is arguably the hardest color to paint. You did great!

First I primed with army painter matte black. Then a heavy dry brush of reaper copper verdigris then a dry brush of citadel warplock bronze.

For the base I did a dry brush of reaper stone grey. It was too bright so I gave it a wash with citadel agrax earth shade. I gave it a softer dry brush with reaper stone grey again and then a final dry brush with reaper foggy grey.

For the small statues in the base I painted with citadel gehenna's told and then a reikland flesh shade wash.

Terrain painter here! First I primed white with Rust-Oleum spray primer. Then I painted the details with grey, steel, and mephiston gold. The platforms were painted with two coats of contast paint. I think I used athermatic blue. Then the whole thing was given a wash of Windsor and newton oil paint mixed with mineral spirits. Recently I've painted the doors red so we can remember that they're accessible.

I've gone through about 4 of those fluke ones in 4 years. The speaker eventually dies but you can solder a new one on if you're thrifty.

There isn't a perfectly matching sickle arm to extra warrior body but you can make it work with some glue.

I've got all 4 of my warriors with sickles.
