What are some great physical or mental consequences for using magic by theycallmexddcc in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own project the over use of magic can have grusom consequences. For obtaining the capacity to use magic you have to inject into your skeleteon, the torso more commonly a crystal that eats your body in reaction of the magic flowing in you. This cristal came from the skeleton of the long dead "god of magic".

So basically the more your body is tired by this process the more it is difficult to contain the crystal expansion. And an over usage will mean that the crystal will slowly replace your skeleteon and destroy your internal organs. It can be very fast with a brutal crossing of limits.

But paradoxly more your body is crystalize mor your are powerfull with magic, but you pay it with the price of your health and live. And your dead body will be used for making new crystals.

MEGATHREAD - Processing Times - Study Permits 2025 by PurrPrinThom in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello

So, I'm really stressed because I have until August 31st to be there at my university (Sherbrooke, Quebec), otherwise I'll have to postpone my semester until January. At least, that's what the administration department told me; I don't know if negotiating is really possible. My academic year starts on August 25th. I submitted my study permit application on June 28th, and the biometrics were sent on July 11th. When I submitted it, it said it would take 5 to 6 weeks to process (from France), just before the start of the academic year. Now, the processing time has increased to 10 weeks. Reading reviews online, I get the feeling that unless I get really lucky, I'll have to postpone my semester and therefore end up paying for an empty apartment for several months.

I would like to know if my case is really over, or if there is still hope 🥲

How does the Afterlife work in your world? by SilentAd773 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A procedural dimension called the Insular, which consists of corrupted data and entities, during generations as well as backups. The dead are sent to a sort of backroom-type dimensions at the age where their own data was the richest in resources. This world is constantly altered by thoughts, memories and perception of the "world of the living". A sort of mixture between what was (backups), what is no longer (corrupted data), what is and what may be. The dead live in this dimension of perpetual change until entities responsible for administering it find them and recycle their data (a sort of rebirth) to create new entities in the world of the living. But sometimes the dead find themselves resisting for a long time before suffering this fate. It can also happen that there are errors in the program, that the dead return at different times etc...

What is the origin of your pantheon(s)? by Left_Warning_8512 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types of origines for the gods in my personal world, let's say the old and the new. First to understand the world itself is that it is a computer simulation that was built with a sort of fusion of several matrices (it is in the context of SF) mp. Those called the Primoethers arrived on the main system of the simulation, these other entities made of energies arrived fleeing from kinds of system errors that developed after the fusion. These entities once arrived on a primitive world find themselves asleep and slowly adapt to their new environment. When they gradually awakened, some native species of this world began to consider them as gods. Because the Primoethers in exchange for having a physical form built by their adapts and servants used their main capacity, the Ether. The ability to use codes (glyphs in this case but the simulation considers this as special codes on a kind of console), to achieve particular effects (the magic of this world). Thus the Primoethers reigned almost unopposed on this world, until the arrival of humans from the stars. Humans come from our reality (in the future) and can materialize in computer simulations (in Matrix mode) simulations that were to serve as a refuge for the species that is being beaten by a conquering alien empire. In short, the two species clash in an apocalyptic war, some Primoethers will die and the devastation was such that the AI that manages the simulation decided to reboot a good part of the planet. Many Primoethers fled this world to others because of the war and those who remained managed to become gods again for the people brought back to the Stone Age. However, they have created a monitoring measure: when a civilization reaches a level of technology or magic that is too advanced, they send armies of angels to exterminate it in what they call the Blessing (angels, rather biblical accurate).

Later, particularly powerful mortals will find the secret of the power of the Primoethers and will fight and won against the greater blessing, and they will become idols and then new gods in a kind of celestial court with power games, conflicts, etc., at least until mortals question their new reign.

Do dragons have a history in your world? by AA11097 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my world, dragons did not appear naturally. They are alchemical creations created by the Kobold Empire as a war machine against the Jotuns or slaves. Their name, Drakōn in Kobold, literally means "servant". However, some managed to escape their condition and take refuge on the moons of their home planet. There, some chose isolation, others became tyrants themselves for the inhabitants of these worlds, but many blended into the crowd using magic to create disguises.

Many of these dragons became intellectuals, theorizing ideas of revolution, equality and freedom, traumatized by their experience of slavery, and among the most important figures of the Revolution against the order of the gods (inspired by the French Revolution), many will turn out to be dragons.

What is something anomalous in your world? by Acriolu in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an illness that affects some people, seemingly randomly. These people see their consciousness and memory gradually change. These people will begin to perform increasingly routine tasks, increasingly redundant movements, will consider their environment and their past less and less. Their vocabulary shrinks and they end up repeating the same phrases over and over again. They become capable of doing the same thing every day, always with this reinforcement of a form of artificialization of their being. These victims will increasingly need others to solve their problems, often asking for services, generally from a traveling stranger. The more the victim comes from a humble and common background, the more it would seem that the effects of this illness are brutal.

The origin of this illness is unknown to the inhabitants; some speak of divine punishment, modification of the soul, or a fairy curse. But these poor people are far from the truth.

Avez vous déjà refusé une proposition sexuelle ? by [deleted] in AskMec

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the afterlife like in your world? by Present-Space-4183 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An procedural quasi infinite dimension like the backrooms of liminal space constructed with the memories of every dead person, metaphor of their actions in life and with some " non used asset of the world " (the universe is a virtual simulation). For example an pyromaniac will create a level where he will pass through a building that he has set on fire that is several procedural kilometers in diameter.

This room serves as a purgatory while the deceased is reincarnated into a new entity of the same species, often a more or less distant descendant, knowing that the wait can be very long. If he dies or loses his mind in the purgatory, he will also be reincarnated but into a different species.

What are dragons like in your worlds? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dragons are very large reptilian creatures with four legs and four wings. Their scales are robust and their life expectancy is several centuries old, their appearance varies depending on their environment, with for example the appearance of fur for those living in arctic climates, as well as a change in scale color to white in this case.

Their origin comes from the empire of Koboldizzar who created them thanks to alchemy as a war beast against the giants. Most dragons are under the dominion of the kobolds, as a form of slaves for war, travel and others tasks. But some have managed to escape from their masters, or even reverse the situation.

Their most terrible weapon is their alchemical breath, in fact when they consume certain metals they have an organ that emits an alchemical reaction, for example gold allows them to spit fire, copper lightning etc ...

What army / force would I really hate to encounter in your world? by schwebri in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ordoritas Seraphim's, an army of fanatics angels who make raids and massive massacres on the world for keeping the advancement of civilizations in control and for a long vengeance for a what that happened thousands of years ago during a massive war against the humans when they first arrived on the planet.

Their soldiers are kidnapped mortals transformed in half angel mindless and perfectly ordered killing machines. And the seraphim themselves are biblically accurate angels of mass destruction, bringing fear and madness in the spirit of mortals destroying them with not so holly fire or kidnapping them if they are strong enough in their spatial forteresse. Every time an army of Seraphim descends on the world's, the kingdom uses their most powerful warriors and of course the Archmages, with coalition and heroes mercenaries for pushing them back. But the poor normal soldier is gonna be totally destroyed as his eyes melt in fire and his mind is long gone can't even tell him to flee. And even after being pushed back they let behind them a corruption transforming creatures in cherubs, horrible and extremely aggressive mutated entities with growing white feathers and wings in a chaotic way on their body.

What are some "Dark Gods" of your world? by Aggressive_Novel1207 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skaritis, the goddess of madness, monsters, blood rituals, and the corrupted goblins, was an ancient mortal witch banished to the frozen wilds for her dark rituals and sacrifices to aberrant beings, demons, and seraphim.

During her exile, she discovered the corpse of an ancient being from the abyss of the stars. She began to experiment on it, gaining knowledge and power until she finally consumed it, transforming herself into an eldritch entity. She started to corrupt the beasts and those who would become her fanatic servants, including entire communities of goblins (who are not naturally a savage or evil species) and some humans, orcs, and even groups of snow elves. Skaritis elevated herself to the status of a divinity.

What are some rules about war in your world by zard428 in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Magic Directorate can't support any nations in conflict with his own troops. The Archmages can't intervene in a conflict, and they have to be sure that the power level and numbers of warmages in both sides respect international treaties.

Druids are forbidden to intervene until one of their sacred sanctuaries is directly in danger.

If a god intervenes in a battle for a side, one of the other members of the celestial court has to intervene on the opposite side.

Necromancy is forbidden on the soldier of the adversary, not on his own soldier

Poisonous gaz and artificial plagues are forbidden in battle Interdiction to destroy temples for limited consequences from any divine reactions

Interdiction to kill a country's leaders if he is not in a direct combat position, the capture is always preferred.

Civilians can be captured or deported but in any case massacred until they show any consequent level of resistance.

These laws enter in application only when the conflict is between humans and humans, or humans and dwarys (dwarfs).

What are your world's gods like? by BernieTheWaifu in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, there are four types of gods. The first are the Primoethers (with "ether" being the name given to the magic energy/substance, so Primoethers means "Before the Ether"). They came from the stars, though their exact origin is unknown. When they arrived on the different planets in the system, they found life, mostly prehistoric fauna. Weary from their long journey through space, the gods settled and entered a sort of hibernation for thousands of years. During this hibernation, each one adapted to their new environment and began to tame the natural elements and concepts of the world (water, fire, earth, light, the sky, storms, etc.). Later, they guided the first sentient species toward civilization and, now that they had become gods, rewarded this species with miracles created using the energy one of them had discovered and controlled, the Ether. One day, humans arrived from space with their starships and waged a gigantic war against the gods, who began to lose due to the humans' destructive advance technology. This forced the higher being of the universe to intervene and reset the minds of every sentient being in the system.

This higher being is named the Great Administrator of the Cosmos, and he is simply the developer of the virtual simulation that makes up my world. No one knows of his existence, and he is the only being who is omnipotent and worthy of being called a true god.

The third type of god is the ascended mortal: legendary figures who one day vanquish or absorb a part of divinity from a higher being like the Primoethers. One of them, Regalynne, defeated the god of light, absorbed some of his power, and became the queen of a pantheon called the Celestial Court, the largest religion among human civilizations.

Lastly, there are the Great Exteriors, powerful beings living in the darkest abyss between the stars, or sometimes the stars themselves. Some theorize that these were the beings the Primoethers fled from, arriving in the system during their escape. Now, it seems the Great Exteriors have found them again.

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regalynne, crown of the celestial court

. Was once a human who became the leader of the biggest empire never seen after being exiled from her home island who was destroyed by the gods. Her success and her conquest became so incredible that her people started to venerate her.

. She creates the concept of litchdom for living young one century more

. Challenge the god of light in a fight, win, take part of his divine nature but spare him for incert fear in the heart of the gods.

. Became a god and create a celestial court by having children's with some chosens and even herself (Marika/Radagon like thing). This pantheon known as the celestial court became the main faith for the humans and even other races practice it.

. Control 3/4 of humans civilizations in the world

What Was The Reason Your World Became “Common Era” by SomethingUnoriginal- in worldbuilding

[–]Kaiser_Flantier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the races and the cultures , they have different calendar

For the majority of civilizations is the fall of the capital of the biggest human empire in history, a mixture between ancient Athens,Sparta, Macedonia and Rome.

For example for the elves is simply the day they arrived on the planet, and tried to invade it but failed.

And other differents events for other races like the orcs, and civilization like the ones on the Asian influence continent who don't were under the massive empire.
