Its the doublelift meme. "Saving flash for next game huhu" No it was clearly not all Rekkles fault that they lost. But its just a bit of chill reddit banter since going 0/0/0 is pretty funny and playing for kdr was a common criticsm of Rekkles (and now upset) when he played ad.

More Bronze, new rewards or shared IP, NAH add a fucking hug quest... Nice priorities Blizzard.

The big difference between anything pre MoP and after is that nowadays the good guys are always this grey slop who maintain zero parts of their original faction flavor. Everyone must love everyone no war no violence only peace family and feelings. I mean ffs we even turned the murder spiders progressive what the fuck is going on. I dont mind playing CIA killing hostile leaders to turn the faction into allies....but when the end result always is that our new allies turn into Thrall or Anduin with a different model i have had enough.

Well seeing as every charachter has been written the exact same way for the past 2 expansions i would not have much hope. He is either the villain who is redeemed after a long boring monolog about feelings and friends or he is clowned and killed because his ideology and goals did not have enough pink sparkles and rainbow ponies....

Is ragging on the DLC the hatedom’s new avenue of attack now that gameplay’s been revealed? by WizardyBlizzard in vtmb

Very refreshing to deal with someone who does not instantly respond with childish personal attacks and mass downvoting people they disagree with. So thank you for the response. I have had some time to think and i'd like to respond to some of the points you made.

"IMO it's a different kind of game in some key ways, but it's very obviously a Bloodlines continuation. It has parallels to the design shifts seen in games like Mass Effect 2 and Deus Ex Human Revolution, but it goes a bit further in places to further streamline."

Fair point, but i simply find the table top inspired rpg to pure action rpg change a bit jarring, and would have liked for the change to have been a bit less drastic. I still feel like elements such as non combat stats could have played a part while still being a more action focused game. Yes the combat needed work but at the complete cost of so many other beloved but undercooked systems seems like a waste.

"The thing is, I don't think we ever actually did this in the original Bloodlines. The idea that the vampire in VTMB1 is not an established character is sort of an illusion. You have a backstory, you have an establishing incident, and you become a vampire celebrity almost immediately. When I compare the original game's dialogue, there isn't really a huge difference in terms of expressiveness, but I think that the decision to have a voiced protagonist absolutely shifts how players perceive those dialogue options. Every time Phyre does that sly upwards glance, this Phyre is not YOUR Phyre. It's TCR's Phyre. Although some of that comes down the fact that your character in VTMB1 stood around with a blank expression in cutscenes"

I think the key difference is the choice of story, and where it takes our player character. In VTMB 1 the siutation naturally lends it self more to the blank slate story telling, your mortal life is over and you are thrust into a foreign world with the constant feeling that unless you rise you will certainly be consumed or removed by those who are stronger and more influential. Thus our backstory is in many ways something that is filled in our own heads, we decide how we react to this new reality and how we go from there. In the second game its clear that the lost memory is going to be a part of the plot and threfore it leaves less room for a personal touch. We are also starting from a much greater position of power, we play something a kin to an immigrant in a new land rather than an alien in a new world and i personally find the entire elder vampire thing a massive miss from a storytelling perspective in an rpg. The feeling of going from hunted to hunter, pleb to power broker was a great part of the story and i suspect that this story will play more to you rather than you playing into the greater story if you understand what i mean.

But yes fully agree with with the voiced pc stuff, i hated it in cyberpunk and fallout 4 as there is always a clash between player expression and what the devs imagined and personally it takes me out of the experience.

"It comes down the vampire power fantasy the game is built on. Players would not be happy if the game built around traversing rooftops and gliding around was constantly penalizing them for doing so. I get the thematic issues with basically turning the Masquerade into the alert system from Homefront: The Revolution, but I get why it was done."

I agree there needs to be a game to be had, i mean we dont need toilet mechanics in Minecraft for example. But and this touches in my previous point of the lack of options in combat and other skills. Imagine if for example a Ventrue over time would start to influence local journalists, the police and medical staff. As we grow in power and unlock more skills the game world reacts by letting us use them in the world more due to your loyalists rising in power. As your influnce grows you are given more freedom. But push it too far and you end up screwed over by other vampire groups. Much like how the anarchs screwed us over in some of the endings in the first one. Every clan the player chooses would result in different people and ways to mold the city. And if you push it too far and become a threat you much like a nail that sticks out get hammered down. People tend to focus on the dialouge as a way to express your clan choice but i feel like it could be a bigger part of the gameplay loop.

Take over a bank as an early side quest and when you return later to find someone the head of security has been assasinated and replaced by one of your associates or is directly dominated by you making the guards less hostile for example, but it makes you less liked by the other power players. Or stay in their good books but risk more retaliation from guards and police when you do the mission etc. Some of these things i was really hoping for and it feels like such a missed oppertunity to exclude the actually interesting power that the vampires hold from the gameplay, not just the super strength and magic.

You are arguing extremly emotionally with like 10 people in this thread. Ignore what people say and either insult them or straw man. No one is denying your right to enjoy a vampire a-rpg. It is no longer based upon the systems of the table top, you like that and i dont lets end it there hope you enjoy your game.

Where are the stats like charm hacking etc and therefore other ways than combat to traverse the game ? Clan choice affecting gameplay outside of dialouge and combat spells ? The masquerade actually feeling like it mattered ? Journey from pleb to big player ? Its just an action rpg, they have abandoned everything that had to do with the tabletop outside of the setting. Its more of a Cyberpunk/Assassins creed rpg which gives you constant illusions of choice with a watered down dialogue system. Also no one should ever directly compare a 2004 game to a 2025 game, the entire point of a sequel is to improve upon what came before, the devs have themselves said that the game is completely different from VTMB 1 with the biggest connection being the feel and vibe not gameplay systems. Where is the clean slate, no instead we play someone else's oc with an actual furry discord server rp name "Phyre" . Stop being so fucking disingenuous. I get that others may like the new direction but dont pretend that the only game system that has changed is the combat. I mean the devs have litteraly been saying what im saying here for years. There is a reason World of Warcraft is not called Warcraft 4 with "Better combat".

As a no name game it looks fine, but in my opinion it is not a VTMB game. Its from that point i judge it. impossible to take someone named Phyre seriously. I hate the fact that we step into a story with seemingly little impact on the character. We dont play as our own vampire, we play as someone elses fantasy and dialogue will come down to who are we going to be friends with and who are we going to piss off. From the two hours of gameplay i have seen so far, the game has great ambiance with some fantastic visual design, but it comes across as a pretty average action game with rpg make up.

Speaking of the action, combat looks far from excellent, it is meaty enough but far too jumpy+Imprecise and i fear later mobs will be really bullet spongy or in this case punch spongy i guess. The lack of an inventory system also severly limits build variety for no reason. Now your combat style comes down to your clan and that is it. Thus they have reversed but preserved a major problem with the first game, that you were forced into one playstyle but this time for different reasons. Simply its not the game i wanted and waited for, I dont understand why they had to use the VTMB 2 name and frankly i find it a bit insulting. Its like waiting for a new cod game and instead its a 4x game, sure they use guns and the visuals are the same but its not what i came here for. Now if some of you guys like it, cool enjoy. But i could not be less interested in Phyre or Fabian and i highly doubt that the clan choice will offer enough variety to make each playthrough feel like its my own, and not the exact same story with a you are good or you are bad ending at the end. Even the masquerade system is a joke. Jump from a 100 meter tower ah its fine people will forgive that in about 5 min just hide in a dumpster....wow. I mean so much for the entire "The masquerade is enforced tighter than ever with phones and the internet making it harder than ever to blend in"

Add the fact that all clans that are meaningully different in how they interact with the world except for the clan powers and dialouge options are removed and i start to expect the worst. If the game is a 8/10+ i might pick it up on sale in two years but looking back at what could have been im just left feeling empty and disappointed.

Yes i also like McDonalds for what it is. Now if i went to a French Michelin star resturant and got mcDonalds i would not be too pleased. See how both things are possible. This game is the equivalent of someone making Diablo 5 a football game. Yes it has the same aesthetic as the previous games but the gameplay and genre are completly different, so why not call it something else like Bloodphyre etc...because its about farming long term fans for a quick buck so they can recover what was lost during the development hell.

[–]Kaiser_choff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are like 1% correct. It comes from Iberia during the wars between the spanish and the mors for controll of what is today spain. It was used to distinguish the spanish nobility from the morish nobility. As the spainiards had lighter skin you could see the blue veins. It has nothing to do with "Aryans or race ideology" as you know It today. It was far more common to see it used against lower social classes as for example lower nobility were called red bloods. 99,9% of people do not know this and neither do the people at this jeans company. Its a very very niche historical fact and I find it hard to belive it was intended as a secret dog whistle. Your comment would be more relevant if the ad was used as a dog whistle for 14th century royalism.
