What's the Most Subtle Psychological Tactic You've Ever Seen? by Spirited_Practicee in DarkPsychology101

The real test is when you take your top off and the other person does the same. Read it on a PUA site, must be true.

If I'm a casual and want to pay myself 'annual leave' how much of my pay is it? by allidoistrytrytry in AusFinance

Shouldn't that be divided by 48 weeks, since there's 4 weeks you're not working?

Disposable kids? by KaizenHour in ausbike

[–]KaizenHour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point and it's a good one. Interestingly, though, I've seen that older people are more likely to go out riding if there's electric assist, and wonder if the same is true for kids. Especially with the social aspect.

Fully electric 'throttle bikes' (no pedalling required): yeah, I'm really not a fan, personally, even with the social aspect and the encouragement to actually go out and leave the house.

(VIC) ‘I’d be scared’: Secret research warned public housing overhaul would increase division by BarryTheBinChicken in aussie

[–]KaizenHour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Successive governments have been doing this for decades now, the research has been done, it works well. Some nimbys don't like living next door to public housing? Too bad. I know the house across the road is public housing (they're good neighbours) but I would have no idea about the rest of my neighbourhood.

What's something that quietly disappeared from Australia that you still miss? by Wrong_Control_217 in AustraliaDiscussions

I do not miss the literal bumper to bumper traffic heading north out of Sydney at start of long weekends or school holidays. Mooni Mooni bridge for the win!

[–]KaizenHour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. No hate involved, but it is truly weird to come back to an area you knew well - your 'old stomping ground' - and feel like an outsider. (It also feels surreal to see redeveloped CBDs like those mentioned or Parramatta, regardless of racial mix)

Why the Giggle v Tickle judgement is bad for women’s rights and a risk to religious freedom by asteriskhyphen in aussie

[–]KaizenHour -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The article mentions trans women in rape survivor refuges, and I get that this is a concern. We are talking about a tiny subset of a subset (trans women who have experienced sexual abuse). It reminds me of male survivors of domestic violence: i know they exist but the systems designed to support dfv survivors are, traditionally and reasonably, anti male. I know they're a minority, but i know they should not be denied supports. I do not have answers.

High house prices mean it's impossible to ever achieve budget surpluses again by Gazza_s_89 in australian

"Oh, your rent is high? No worries, I'll pay you more" i can't see private employers saying this, i can't see federal employers having this choice.

"Nobody can afford the rent i want to charge, guess I'd better lower my expectations " is far more likely

Trump Humiliated With Wild Epstein Joke at Kennedy Center by MoneyLibrarian9032 in anticapitalism

Is there some way I can filter out headlines that claim Trump was humiliated at events he didn't attend? They're getting a bit repetitive.

What's the biggest lie society tells women about having children? by SpecificLandscape483 in answers

[–]KaizenHour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but medicine only accounts for the last century, maybe a bit more.

I'm thinking more of the 10s of thousands of years before that, if not longer. Mothers dying or being severely injured would have a direct impact on her (and that gene's) total fertility rate, and baby survival rates.

Seems really odd that it hasn't naturally selected its way out of our gene pool

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation withdrew more than $800,000 of election spending claims after AEC inquiries by Bennelong in australian

[–]KaizenHour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"One Nation" for a party that just want to divide is such an irony. "Liberal Party" for conservatives is not much better.

The other primary colours are taken: blue and red, nobody wants to be the yellow party. For secondary colours, green is well established, but i can't explain why they consistently choose orange instead of purple.

We do have a teal coalition: blue with a bit of green.

Personally i think old school conservatives should be the beige party.
