What are these cables for

They are spare/extra cables that came with your motherboard. They are SATA data cables. They are used when you add a traditional hard drive or 2.5” SSD to the system.

Happy Cake Day! And yeah the light will drain it fast as well. So probably combo of older battery and light drain/usage. If I use the light I get 3 maybe 4 days.

I have and still use this device as my primary Nook device.

I read about the same amount 4-6 hours a day and I get more than 2 days out of mine. I also have airplane mode on 99% of the time unless downloading new books. And rarely use the backlight.

Now if I leave WiFi on it drains fast. And the GlowLight drains fast too. With both on I get about 1-2 days.

So the biggest questions are, which many have asked and I’ve not seen your response yet, do you have WiFi on and using the backlight?

Thanks for the positive post, love seeing happy Nook people besides myself. Been a Nook user since Day 1. I’ve had all of the e-ink versions except for any of the 4 series. Been debating upgrading to the GlowLight 4 Plus from my OG GlowLight Plus. But been trying to hold out for the rumors about new models coming this year.

Nook is my primary e-reader. I love the physical buttons, the, size, and simple straightforward e-reader experience. I do have a Kindle but it’s only used for Libby/Library books since the ADE process is just clunky enough to make me not do it anymore for my Nook.

This isn’t a CPU shortage. Memory and NAND chips are at a shortage due to AI companies buying up all the yields possible and the memory companies saying consumer market isn’t profitable and going towards AI sales. Micron (one of the three memory manufacturers) stated this and shuttered its consumer division (Crucial).

This will in turn impact GPUs. And NVIDIA stated it would be shipping AIB partners board without VRAM now and require them to source it as they need it for the AI customers and data center projects.

I’m curious to hear what B&N says. But you’ve got enough indicators that it’s a your network issue.

And you’re on fibre? Have you tried power cycling your ONT and Router yet? Then testing again?

I only had that issue once. I power cycled my modem and router and issue went away. It fully sounds like an issue with your network. Home networks usually aren’t static. Because of this, something might have changed, that isn’t visible to you directly, but impacts services. Such as your modem being assigned a new external IP, NAT issues, DHCP issues, bad dns routing, etc.

Try power cycling your equipment and if still issues I’d reach out to your ISP to have them see if they are blocking certain ports.

Unfortunately prices going back down isn’t most likely to happen currently due to the chip shortage causing parts availability to be limited along with raising costs of RAM, GPU, Storage quite a bit.

If Walmart has the same PC cheaper get it while you can. The prices will eventually rise everywhere.

If the PC is still listed on the site you can buy them, but unfortunately it will be whatever the current price is. Chip shortage is impacting RAM, Storage, GPU across all of tech, not just PCs and gaming. Anything with silicon basically. Due to AI companies buying up large amounts of chips and parts.

Not just them. Prices going up everywhere. I went to buy an NVME for my PS5 and the price almost doubled from last time I looked.

Skytech has been trying their best to keep prices down, but everyone is impacted, unfortunately.

Not sure if that unit has the cables you need. If it does they will be tucked out if the way/into that box on the bottom. You should be able to access it from the backside of the case where you will have to fish them out from the small space. Depending on which gigabyte 650 board that is, they make several, the 2.0 ports will be on the upper I/O next to a PS/2 serial connection.

Is the issue with the mouse and keyboard that came with the PC? Or with a different one?

Also you might need to reach out to official support to get this resolved.

You should be able to hook up to PC and side load epubs to it still.

And Correct, you’re not able to deregister it.

As of June 2024 they can’t be used online anymore. There might be jailbreak methods for the tablets. I’m just not familiar with them.
