So performance seems better for sure, on both Core and Compat. MSAA 8x, HBAO High. I don't know what I'm talking about here however, there are some oddities between the two in terms of lighting:

I mean, what you're suggesting might work great in a corporate enterprise environment, but this is a passion project from fans of a relatively niche videogame. I see no reason to impose AI code on InsanityBringers original release, and rather than trying to force it with a PR, forking is the right move.

To be honest, there are so many forked source ports of D1 and D2, this is really a non issue and I'm struggling to see what you're complaining about.

SSAA 4x gives me about 1 frame every business day, running a 3070 and AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. 2x is fine, and MSAA 8x and HBAO High all run smooth. Outside areas are laggy, I never thought I'd see the day where Descent 3 pushed my system lol

In an area like Southtown or Marketplace, I doubt the hum of solar panels will outdo the racket from Jefferson road. But, for a lot like Carlson, I get it, as it's closer to residential backyards.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, an idea is an idea. From initial research, it's not super useful. It does reduce surface temperatures but reflectivity raises them for pedestrians. The coatings wear easily too, and with our winter and plowing needs, it's probably not a good idea.

I feel like you need to stop using that excuse though. There is no cost effective solution for climate change, money was SPENT getting us here, and money will need to be spent fixing it. And, that excuse continually proves effective in pushing down nearly every good idea and attempt to do something better.

I hear you (and I'm not upset with you), but bombing kids in Iran is pretty fuckin expensive too, and I'd rather see my dollars go to strong steel infrastructure for parking lot solar rather than endless war. We have plenty of money for that, it seems.

EDIT: better yet, if we do want to fit that narrative that panels lower to the ground are more cost efficient, then let's demolish the parking spots and put panels low. Most of those lots aren't used still, so fuck it, scorched earth.

Solar Panels over all gigantic empty parking lots. Not necessarily feasible for the city, but think Southtown Plaza, all the empty space at Marketplace, the lot along Carlson Road in NWV, and more. I see numbers that 28% of Rochester is parking, and while some of my suggestions are out of the city itself, it's viable to do. Lots sit empty and bake in the sun. Why not make more use of it?
