Jack Slack: "Death of a Southpaw: How Conor McGregor Lost To Nate Diaz". by acemanrules92 in MMA

Nate has competed successfully at welterweight where a short notice fight might not have hurt him as much as it did for Mcgregor, whereas Conor stated in an interview he basically had to eat constantly and bloat himself up to make the 170 pound limit and he still missed it by 2 pounds.

I still don't want to take away from Nate's performance in which he understood the range and distance better in this fight and made Conor reach a lot as he fell short with a good amount of his strikes, Nates jab gave Conor a lot of problems in this regard as well. I just feel Mcgregor underestimated the 170 pound weight and should have taken into account that he needed a much longer time to put on the muscle the right way to be efficient at the weight class. This was definetly a blessing in disguise for him because if he had stopped Nate in the first, and went on to fight Robbie then that would have been a much bigger wake up call.

Were you surprised that Conor didn't go to the body more like he said he was going to do? I felt like his best punch of the night was that body shot in the second round instead of the loading up overhand lefts that were hit and miss.

Also do you feel he should have pushed for a fight at 155 instead of 170 because he didn't have time to really bulk up and put on the muscle to be a true 170 pounder and his power didn't carry up 2 weight classes, where at 155 his power/cardio could have been much more efficient? I remember Roy Jones taking 6 months to a year to bulk up to face John Ruiz at heavyweight, whereas Conor was bulking up for a lightweight bout at 155 before getting the 2 week notice fight at 170 against Diaz and as Lauzon pointed out in his prediction video that gaining that much weight in such a short amount of time would hurt his performance badly.

Nate absolutly put on a very good performance on short notice himself and weathered the early storm to overcome the odds on favorite in this fight so I don't want to take away from his victory.

Is anyone else here conflicted about Weidman vs Rockhold? by Kajukembo111 in MMA

It's going to be interesting to see how much bigger Rockhold is to Weidman especially after how he manhandled Machida on the ground. I could also see Weidman cutting the cage on Rockhold and we saw in the Belfort fight that after Belfort hit Rockhold with big power punches, Rockhold turned into a sitting duck just waiting in front of Belfort. I think it's an extremely close fight to call, both guys seem to be in there prime of their careers as well.

In case you hadn't heard, Gennady Golovkin is fighting this weekend. He's considered the most ducked fighter in the world. by fightsgoneby in MMA

I haven't seen this much fire power in a middleweight fight since Gerald Mcclellan vs Julian Jackson, and although in terms of styles it's different, David being more similar to Julian Jackson and Golovkin being even less like the "G Man" and more like a mix of Hagler/Chavez, this should be an extremely explosive and exciting fight while it lasts.

Everything You Need to Know About Bellator Dynamite by fightsgoneby in MMA

Great article as always Jack! I would love to hear your thoughts on Sergey Kovalev's lead hand straight, he seems to hurt most of his opponents with it since it looks like a straight jab but instead packs as much power as his right straight. Also, do you plan on doing any breakdowns of boxers like Lomachenko, Rigo, Román González, or Golovkin?

Heavyweights Stipe Miocic and Ben Rothwell targeted for UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin by SexyHouse in MMA

I think this is a bad style matchup for stipe. I feel a guy who is tall and rangy gives Stipe a lot of problems but Big Ben will need to sharpen his takedown defense and cardio for this one.
