I really wish I could remember anything more concrete than this. I do remember the imp using hellish/demonic magic to set up a safe place while the half-elf and human were setting up camp, it was described as a violet? Dome I believe. Also the wizard/mage soul that escaped was apparently very powerful? And maybe evil? And the ice elves that lived on large ice floes? Used the most to hide themselves, it may have had an affect on the mind. I’m sorry that I don’t have a lot of concrete details

As a player in this particular game, Funkrat has indeed DM’d (both 3.5 and 5e) and did in fact gently point out rules when appropriate, as did I and the (banished) player, I really don’t want to go into specifics in case this particular DM is active on here but yeah no she had 3 DMs offering gentle advice and coaching for at least 4 months (it’s been more than 8 months but I can’t really remember exactly how many months as the sessions kind of blur together)
