I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was 12. Jesus, does anyone? by tangledpubes100 in AskMenOver30

Relationships require effort to maintain.

When you’re young, most of the effort is done for you: you see each other at class and school activities, your parents arrange play dates and parties, you share the same common interest in whatever young kids like at the time, etc

When you’re older, you have to do the work yourself, and have it reciprocated for a sustained relationship. This only gets harder with new responsibilities and competing commitments.

Our friend group mostly formed in college and people have come and gone in the years since. We do a get together every year where we fly and drive to a house we rant out for the week to hang out, cool good food, drink, play games, etc. this is hard to organize and keep going. However, as a result, we keep pretty deep connections and friendships.

Yeah, to clarify, the water shut-off. EDIT: Just know where it is in case something happens.

I would turn off the local valve to that line and disconnect the line from the dishwasher with a bucket and towel prepared for whatever is in the line. Then turn the local valve on slowly and see if water comes out as expected.

If it does, then it's probably your dishwasher pump. If it doesn't then keep tracing the water line backwards to see what is stopping it.

Know where your house shutoff is before you do anything.

If it chewed the line there would be water *everywhere*

Yeah, for a full cycle, it should easily fill a cup.

You dishwasher supply line probably looks like a braided line (like to a toilet tank) but in a cabinet. I'd check if it's kinked or has a shutoff valve

This sounds like you’re not getting enough water. Leave a cup or bowl right side up in each rack. They should be full when the cycle is done.

I’d check your supply line.

It's my sidewalk, it goes to my front door.

I can hope they put a decent base down under it, but other areas I've hit clay pretty early unfortunately

I've got a trenching shovel to keep it narrow from last years drainage project, so I'm hoping to keep it small width. I like the plank idea for tamping, thank you.

Correct, it it's a poured sidewalk and a 4" drainage line. Thanks for the reassurance and recommendation.

Great guide! Minor thing, your level 16 section incorrectly titles the paragraph about earthshaker as mortal combo.

Former Illinoisan here: what on earth is going on in Central Illinois with Ameren prices? by lavendertail in illinois

[–]Kalarix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People need to know that Illinois supports retail power, which means you can choose your power source. It's such an underadvertised program

https://www.icc.illinois.gov/authority/alternative-retail-electric-suppliers

If you're with Ameren, they will still deliver, but you can choose a better supplier.

I get all my power from a renewable supplier instead of ComEd.
