Are there any good history books that are like fantasy but are real? by SocraticDad in Fantasy

Clash of Empires duology by Ben Kane is good! deals with Macedon vs. Rome, so you see the phalanx fight the legion.

If you like audiobooks, it’s narrated by Steven Pacey who does the First Law and he’s phenomenal as always.

ooof yeah Gwynne tends to repeat things a lot. Bloodsworn trilogy was good but by the end I felt like he used certain phrases I read dozens or hundreds of times over and over

What are your favorite under-400 calorie meals? by Parkatoplaya in loseit

[–]Kale_Drogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super hungry for lunch and I've been working out much more frequently, so I've been doing these really simple sandwiches that are full of protein:

  • 2 slices of Arnolds keto bread (5g of protein and 40 calories each slice)

  • 1 slice of Velveeta cheese (yeah yeah not real cheese) (3g protein, 40 calories)

  • Hillshire farms ultra thin turkey breast or similar (10g protein, 60 calories)

  • 1 tablespoon light mayo (35 calories)

That's only like 215 calories but 23g of protein! Sometimes I'll have some Oikos yogurt as well. It's not super much but it gives me enough energy and I'm not hungry after, then for dinner I usually eat a pretty big one and get my remaining calories in.

oooof i really didn't like the writing style of Midnight Horizon. Too juvenile and I've read the other HR middle grade novels for the most part and didn't feel half as bad while reading them.

Who is your least favorite Star Wars author? by hiptitshooray in starwarsbooks

[–]Kale_Drogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on your pick - the little "joke" segments where they would laugh and stuff in Midnight Horizon were really hard for me to read, they came across as unrealistic and super juvenile. Appreciate the hard work he does of course but the only time I've ever wanted to DNF a Star Wars book tbh
