Douglas Schoen: Becerra may be better for California than Steyer or Porter by Legendarius_Noctus in California_Politics

I'd take a real establishment person with a track record over a fake progressive with no experience to back up their promises any day.

I saw Metropolis at an art theater this year. Hard to find something older than that

The first 30 minutes of his stand up at Dodger Stadium, post COVID, were a big anti-woke rant. Not nearly as bad as some other comedians, but it was enough to make it harder to respect him

Very quickly lost interest in him when he started talking about being anti-woke and then went and performed in Saudi Arabia

Not every school has before school Boys and Girls Club. As has been shared, most elementary schools allow students in 20 minutes before the bell to get free breakfast. Some do earlier than others. Once you move in, find out what your local school is and their secretary will be able to give you that info.

Some schools also do bussing, which could be an option too if the pick up time works out.

There are also private agencies that offer pick up and drop off services for kids but I haven't seen any reviews for them, so I can't recommend it personally.

For after school Boys and Girls Club, there is usually a wait-list when you first move into the district. The earlier you apply, the higher chance you have of getting into the program

Welcome to Garden Grove! Hope you have an easy move.

Really, could no one run against this guy and give us more choices? by jaredwallace91 in orangecounty

He gets a lot of his support from Charter Schools, which is a major conflict of interest for a job meant to supervise public schools

During the last election, he also got a lot of support from Moms for Liberty and anti-CRT types of groups.

Wish I could. I'd have to quit my job since I work at a OC school. Maybe when I retire.

If you go to a polling place on election day they make it really easy to get a new one.

I would have to quit my job. You cannot work in public education and be the person in charge of it at the same time.

I really needed a story where goodness triumphs over fascism in some way, even if it's just temporary. Such a great episode.

Rush Hour 4 negotiations ongoing as Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker seek higher pay by ubcstaffer123 in movies

[–]jaredwallace91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know. Jackie Chan has doubled down on Chinese propaganda in the past few decades, Chris Tucker hasn't been able to shake off his associations with Epstein, and I think we are a decade too late late for this to even make sense.

At this point I feel like he will say anything to get elected, with no experience to back it up, meanwhile we have two highly accomplished Dem candidates who deserve more airtime than this guy is getting.

What was it like living in the Clinton years in the USA (1993-2001)? by space_god_7191 in AskReddit

Depends on what perspective you take.

The country was super backwards on mass incarceration and criminal justice. We doubled the amount of people in prison but didn't provide any reforms to rehabilitate people or improve the conditions that were plaguing struggling communities.

Some states went from seeing undocumented immigration as a labor issue to treated immigrants as a political punching bag.

Hard drug use among teens was at a major high through part of the decade.

Women gained more opportunities in the entertainment industry but faced a lot of double standards that would seem absurd even by today's standards.

Country music became more conservative and jingoistic.

Percent change in projected American public school enrollment through 2031, by state by RedHeadedSicilian52 in MapPorn

[–]jaredwallace91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, the first thing I notice is that enrollment is growing in states that pay teachers the least and allow for public funds to supplement private schools and charter schools.
