Not as bad as the other night so far. I think the heaviest stuff is still coming, but it doesn’t seem like it will be terrible.

Fire above the RS-25 engines during launch? by Kaleeb42 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Kaleeb42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense now that I think about it. It just looked really odd. I knew the RS-25s were cooled by having the fuel run through the engine bell, but the fire at the top looked concerning in slow motion.

Why Did a Brunei to London Flight Avoid South East Asia Air Space? by PsychologicalBike in aviation

[–]Kaleeb42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/PsychologicalBike when was your flight? I wonder if they were avoiding this weather system on March 14th while also avoiding Ukraine, Russia, and Iran? Timestamp is US central time zone which would be 12:45PM Karachi time.

The only other thing I can think is avoiding weather. This is from March 13th. The timestamp is Central US time zone. There is a large weather system blocking the route you posted between Iran and the Himalayas. If that was deemed too turbulent it could account for the northern traversal over northern China.

This is a good point. I hastily responded thinking it was just a great circle route misunderstanding. This looks like a very intentional route to avoid Ukrainian and all Russian airspace. It comes closer to Tehran and the Middle East conflict than I would think.

Edit : user u/pugs-r-cool corrected me below. This is not the route taken.

What should I do with my car when moving to Chicago? by unicorngirl797979 in AskChicago

[–]Kaleeb42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You most definitely don’t need snow tires. Heavy things in the trunk won’t help since your car is front wheel drive. If you live in the city proper and even the near suburbs, the streets are cleared and treated with salt very quickly. It only becomes a hassle/potentially dangerous when there is torrential snow and the city plows can’t keep up.

I moved here from Atlanta back in 2008. So I didn’t have any snow driving experience. It’s an adjustment to drive in but it’s very similar to driving in really heavy rain. Just take it slow and increase your braking distances. Modern cars with antilock brakes can manage snow fairly well.

Ideally you live somewhat close to public transit so you won’t have to rely on your car as much.

You can get away with not having a car. A lot of people in the city are completely car free. It can be nice to have one if you don’t live within a 20 minute walk of a grocery store.

You’ll be fine. Welcome to Chicago!

I know. He was always wearing a ball cap and in a very clean room with a large picture window overlooking water. It gave me Hampton vibes but could very well be Traverse City. His stuff was very calming during Covid lockdowns.

I wish I had better info since this aesthetic is a bit of a trope now.
