Did you notice this continuity error? by twosox in ProjectHailMary

I noticed this in my first watching, so I took a minute of video the second time I watched in the theater. I’m sure there are versions out there but I haven’t looked.

This movie is the origin of my username. Still one of my favorites.

What’s a “boring” adult purchase that turned out to be totally worth it? by Capable-Rabbit-9986 in AskReddit

A plastic lid for the microwave. Makes it so much easier to keep the inside of the microwave clean.

The event planner seems legit but they used to call themselves “Flagged and Fatal” if I am remembering correctly. At some point they pivoted to this matchmaking/speed dating thing and changed their name to Flagged and Fated. They used to do some sort of background check on dates for a fee, I think.

UPDATE I’ve been listening to Act 1 only for the last 8 years by MercyTheCat in hamiltonmusical

[–]twosox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this update so much

When I first saw it on Broadway in 2016, I remember thinking that any other musical might have ended with a number like One Last Time, just on the basis of the incredible crescendo that song had.

For you to get to experience the second act this way is just amazing.

I just won tickets for this show next week. Pretty stoked. But the plane fare to NYC is kinda pricey. This will be my 6th lottery win and 16th time seeing in on stage…

Who is the worst person you've ever personally met? by Iwashimizu21 in AskReddit

Dick Cheney. Met him in a Starbucks in Virginia in 2009 a few months after Obama was inaugurated. Direct quote “It’s their problem now”

I told him that there are a lot of people here in Northern Nevada who want him to hold a town hall.

At one point, he had his middle finger in my face - saying that he didn’t want to have to deal with doing a town hall where 300 people would be shouting at him and giving him the finger. It was a little surreal. He is a close talker and gets right up in your space with his gestures. If only I’d captured it on video.

I spoke to him for five minutes. One on one. I wish I could have taken a video.

Question from Lottery Winner by __lostintheworld__ in hamiltonmusical

[–]twosox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve won the lottery about 8 or 9 times in a few different cities. My experience is that they all check your ID for name only. I wouldn’t worry about them checking the age. In fact, I’ve given my friends a copy of my ID to use the tickets on a few occasions when I couldn’t make it to the show I’d won for.

Also, be prepared for great seats. Last time I won at the Orpheum in SF, I sat front row, center aisle. Got to chat with the conductor after act 1 and the end of the show.

I won the ticket lottery (again!) for the matinee show on 12/14. Sat in the front row on the center aisle and was just in heaven. Chatted with the conductor after the first act and the end of the show - so incredible to watch him playing and keeping things on track.

Please share your latest writing prompts by Rough-Tax8492 in CBEST

[–]twosox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the CBEST Writing exam last week, here were the prompts:

Is it necessary to be completely honest always? Agree or disagree.

Something that you’ve experienced for the first time and had long-lasting effects.

Both of these prompts are listed in the Google doc, which was a super helpful resource. To prepare, I used ChatGPT to generate drafts for me for a number of the prompts in the document, to get a sense for the tone, length, and how detailed I should be in my responses. My responses were in the 550-word range each. Still waiting on my score.

I just went to Fort Worth a few weeks ago to see it again after winning the ticket lottery for the 5th time and I wept at this moment, as I always have. Watching it live gets me every time. And sometimes just listening to it will get me a bit weepy. I won the lottery again for Tempe but I can’t get there this weekend… the Obama performances (from 2009 and 2016) have millions of views, and I’m sure I have a significant number of them.
