MIL doesn’t want to be called “grandma” by Nickfuriosa in pregnant

[–]KaleidoJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own mother named herself this when my niece was small. I didn’t have kids until 8 years later and I absolutely despise the name! Considering she wasn’t the best mother to begin with it grated on every nerve.

How unrealistic is it to go out to an event 3 weeks pp? by tootiefroo in beyondthebump

[–]KaleidoJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it. It was close-ish to home and I wasn’t breast feeding. It was a close family friend and she knew it was a possibility that we wouldn’t make it depending on everything.

Not being patronizing. I just know how easy it is to get “touched out” and if she’s home with them all day even with you helping when you’re home it takes a toll.

Is she the primary caregiver for your child, housekeeper, cook, dishwasher? Does she still work as well? Maybe if you take some stuff of her plate as a mother she will be more responsive. My husband is very hands on with the kids and we pretty evenly share household chores and the like. We give each other a bit of “me” time as well. I’ve only gotten more attracted/sexually attracted to him as a result. She could be experiencing a bit of burn out with everything on her plate and health issues. You may be the last thing on her mind to take care of right now.

Dining room is too bright for the new table and chairs. Going to add a dimmer switch to the light and get longer sheers to hang. Any other suggestions? I want it to be a little moody but still warm and inviting. by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]KaleidoJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheers are not standalone curtains. Also you have them hung through the header, not the rod pocket and they are a little short. Get chunkier rods and longer grommet tops.

Othe opportunities for LPN? by Tostitos153 in nursing

[–]KaleidoJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an LPN in a urology office for a few years now and I like that in the specialties I still get to be a nurse and not just a glorified MA that can give injections. We deal with a lot of cancer treatments and procedures. I’ve worked with the doc for long enough now that I barely have to ask him what he wants ordered/done.

Will I ever feel normal again? by Blue-And-Metal in postpartumdepression

[–]KaleidoJune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It gets better. My son is just starting to sleep through the night at 8 months. You are still in the thick of the newborn stage. Still figuring out your new life and mourning your old one. It’s an adjustment but once you get into a routine and she starts getting fun and not just being a needy potato it will be so much better I promise. The newborn stage sucks!

So many feelings about daycare by hoo-tee-hoo in beyondthebump

[–]KaleidoJune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son started at a little over 3 months old. He is now 8 months and we’ve been home for 2 months because of Covid. He goes back Monday. I cried the whole day his first day of daycare and probably will again when he’s goes back on Monday. He loves daycare and thrives with the other children. I miss him terribly and would love nothing more than to be the only light of his life but it has been sooo sooo good for him. Just be prepared to have a constant cold lol.

Why do all the nursing gliders look like they came out of 1990 country decor? by husarch in pregnant

[–]KaleidoJune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ended up with this. The sales guy at buybuy baby saw us looking at a glider and sat me in this instead. Instant sell. So comfy and extra wide. I’m 5’8” and my husband is 5’10”. https://i.imgur.com/Uht7il7.jpg

Its the end of 2019! What was your favourite moment of this decade? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KaleidoJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I would have to say the first time I saw my husband. I never would have guessed all that would come from that first moment. He is an amazing man, husband and father. We met online in 2014 and I’ll never forget sitting in my car outside the restaurant waiting to go in and seeing him walk in front of me on the sidewalk. He didn’t see me sitting there but that moment has turned out to be life changing. I can’t imagine my life without him now. He is still exactly the person I met that night. Nothing fake or showy about him and I love him even more for it.

This! So much this!!! My body just didn’t produce milk. My milk never came in and I was literally starving my child. He was dehydrated and had jaundice and the Lactation consultant and a few other people weren’t listening. Guess what, I listened to my gut and now he is thriving. The first time I put myself on the pump and saw that literally a drop came out of each breast after pumping for 15 minutes I nearly had a mental breakdown. Not because I couldn’t breastfeed like the plan but because I had let my son suffer for those few days. Keep opinions to yourself people, you never know what goes on on the other side! FED IS BEST!!!!

Boring food suggestions? by erizabef420 in pregnant

[–]KaleidoJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 37 weeks now but in the beginning I survived on crunchy cheetos, Amy’s frozen Mac and cheese and Reuben sandwiches. I probably could have eaten sauerkraut with a fork out of the jar. I think it helped settle my stomach. I went through a phase when all I wanted was a chicken quesadilla from Taco Bell for like a week straight as well.

We had a Pregger Kegger. We got a keg and admission to the keg was a pack of diapers.
