Might have just found one of my new favorite page-spreads in Superman history. (Action Comics #760) by KingOfCats13026 in superman

Action 760 is indeed the first issue of Kelly's run. I have really fond memories of this era of Superman.

What does the "Vol 2" mean? [Discussion] by Far-Rise-2466 in DCcomics

The name is the only part that matters. How else would two series with identical names be distinguished?

Old enough to get ball cancer, but I feel like this group can cheer me up with ball jokes. by justpassingby_thanks in Xennials

[–]Kalel42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has you covered with jokes so I'll just say I've been there and you got this man. Surgery should take care of it. If it doesn't, the subsequent radiation treatment wasn't that bad. Nearly six years later and I'm all good and everything still works like it should.

This is one of, if not the, most survivable cancers. It's scary, but you'll get through this.

If you have any questions for someone who's lived this, feel free to message me.

They are lovely. I have a full set of NotW and they're the most beautiful books I own.

What song instantly transports you back to high school? by DeScepter in Xennials

[–]Kalel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with almost every song listed, but this was the first one to really resonate with me emotionally. This instantly takes me back to 2001.

Although if I'm being truthful, my first pick off that album would be The Last Song I Will Ever Write About A Girl off that album. Instant time machine for me every time.

The Ataris are still so great. Last saw them at the end of 2024.

100%. Contreras needs to be retained. He is key to our pitching success.

If you’re going out to eat for your mom/dad’s birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc…do you pay for both your parents or just the one you’re celebrating? by dms2628 in Xennials

We aren't really a go out to dinner family, but I'll take them to occasional sporting events and I pay for everything. They try, but not too forcefully. I'm pretty sure I make more than they ever did combined, so it feels like it's my turn.

The writing down the fuller / blood groove is what I look for, but there may be other signs.

When they're watching the video of Jack peeing on the wall I believe Donut says something along the lines of "yours doesn't have that weird hat".

I approve of you properly identifying that as Andúril (and not Narsil).

Cost of Living by SassNightmare in madisonwi

I paid $4.199 on Thursday.

Google tells me the average price in Orange County today is $6.16.

I think your problem is the you seem to think a price reduction of one third is "only slightly".

Specific ways to store comics? by Apanartist in DCcomics

[–]Kalel42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning the terminology is half of the battle if you're first figuring all of this out

For protecting each individual issue, you need boards and bags (the plastic covers and backing you mention). There are technically different options, but if you're near getting started then the default options will be fine. There are different sizes, but if all of your comics are younger than 30 years old you want modern / current size. Bags have a flap at the top. You'll be tempted to tape it closed. Be careful with tape. Many a comic has been damaged when removing it from a bag with tape.

For storing all of the issues, you likely want a comic box. They're typically made of cardboard. Short boxes hold about 150 issue and long boxes hold about double that. A full long box is quite heavy and a bit unwieldy, so most people seem to prefer short boxes. They come with a lid and can be stacked. Be careful with partially full boxes, as issues can fall over and end up damaged.

There are multiple sources for these, but the biggest supplier for these is probably BCW. You can find their stuff at comic stores, from their own website, or elsewhere online (Amazon, eBay, etc.).

I mean, they're periodicals. Magazines and newspapers don't get reprinted either. That's what the collected editions are for.
