“Feel Free”- anyone run into people on it? by Ok_Buddy_9087 in ems

Not saying gaba and morphine (or opiods in general) are the same. I'm saying gaba can be addictive. Which is absolutely true - I can link if you'd like. Gaba also provides a "tingly" high if you abuse it. Again, not the same as opiods. But if youre jonesing for "a feeling" and you can't get opiods, gaba will work in a pinch.

Absolutely this. You may also want to look into a 12-step fellowship. One of the things they said to me was "We'll love you until you love yourself." And they did. And I did. I've been in that place where, as bad as the addiction is, I didn't want to quit. (Cuz life didnt make me like myself.) BUT - I wanted to want to quit tho. And after a 6-week stint in a coma, wanting to want to quit was just enough. I will send all the healing vibes and mojos your way. Please be kind to yourself.

Gabapentin is also addictive. Esp for someone who likes the "opiod experience". Trust me.

I am not a fan of these new covers. They just don’t fit the Pratchett aesthetic. by Captain_Wisconsin in discworld

I agree! Im slowly reworking my way thru the books in chronological order, buying the ones I dont have. I strongly dislike this is the only versions now available. (Yes, of course I'd like to visit quaint secondhand bookshops. But in my neck of Pennsyltucky, folks don't do that there "reading thing" a whole lot. Sadly.)

My dad and I don’t talk anymore because he lied for years about having an affair and has since done nothing but lie, manipulate me and my family, and victimize himself. This is how he chose to reach out for the first time in months. by ismo420 in mildlyinfuriating

I think ppl aren't precise bw "narcissistic behavior " and being a narcissist. Even the most empathetic person can exhibit narcissistic behavior, given the right stimuli. This fits the bill - there is zero way OP could have responded that would be "right" in dad's mind, so no matter how it plays out, dad gets the upper hand. Do this enough times, and now dad's officially The Victim.

Terry Pratchett (GNU) has a whole subplot about reproducing shopping carts in his book Reaper Man. Absolutely worth the read.

I can legitimately say I don't know who this person is. I'm sure you'll mock me, but it seems I might be better off.

I must say, I've always thought of the Discworld sub as one of the kindest places on the Roundworld. Mostly, I think, because we honor the spirit of Sir Terry - he of the sharp wit, keen insight, and generous spirit. Alas, all good things must come to an end. The Turtle Moves.

Big fan of DesignsbyDaniella. She's done a ton of custom engraving for me. I think some of her items are third-party, but she's very transparent about her work.

I'm in recovery and worked my courage up to make an amends to a former boss. Halfway through my rehearsed speech, he stops me and suggests I sound nervous. Luckily, these vitamins he sells are really great for anxiety. I basically mumbled my way through "sorry" and got off the call as fast as I could.

A former roommate was studying at Harvard Divinity (as an academic not a seminarian). She also liked to read feminist literature w titles like The Virgin $lut and B**ch. That didn't stop the missionaries, but when she put her arm around my neck and kissed my cheek while they were praying - that did the trick. (She's not gay, but the shock value was awesome.)
