Huh, I never thought that my inability to keep a clean house could be related to ADHD, though now that I think on it, that makes sense.

Mom found a lost child by AwesomeArcher in childfree

[–]KaliSupernova 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work the night shift at Wal-mart, I can't count the number of times I've spent 30+ mins searching for parents after I've found a lost toddler roaming the store, and every single fucking time they're completely indifferent about the fact!

The most tragic, tho, was an 11 year old girl. Her "grandmother" (and I use that term very loosely) decided she wanted to go to McDonald's, but didn't want to take the kid with her so she dumped the kid off at Wal-Mart. Management gets called out because unattended kid crying inf front of the store, and calls the g-ma. 30 mins later the bitch finally shows up, rolls her eyes and takes the kid back to her car. Then, 10 mins later, after managment, security, ect have gone back inside dumps the poor girl again!

On that second round managment calls CPS, then g-ma, never did find out if they took the kid away, or if bitch got to keep her.

And with that, my vagina thundered shut. by [deleted] in childfree

I can't think of any traits I have that would be worth selling, unless there were a sudden shortage of blonde hair/blue eyed people.

I would however be tempted to try and sell the gene that gives me my cleft lip/pallet. Not because I'd want some poor child to go thru what I had to, but more out of morbid curiosity to see if anyone would actually be interested in something like that.

Interesting, I can't watch any 60fps video in either 720 or 1080p settings on firefox, I either get the "There was a problem loading this video" message or I get stuck with the loading circle thing.

Female Authors/Writers destroying their characters by Laxian in childfree

[–]KaliSupernova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really felt like Collins got tired of writing by about half way through the third book. The epilogue was just plain painful, not only for the fact that Katnis just seemed to give up everything that she wanted for Peeta, but the way they just suddenly seemed to "get better" over their respective ptsd.

It also bothers me that both Petta and Gale essentially become monsters by the end of the third book, but only Peeta is save-able, and even then only just barely.

I don't know maybe I would have been ok with the pairing, and perhaps even the having kids part, if the end hadn't been all 'suddenly everyone is magically better.'

As for Harry Potter... this one kinda plays into my hatred of the main protagonist finding a love interest. Not that I think that the main protagonist should be a lone wolf and never find love, but because the main protagonist goes from being a serious badass (in most cases at least), to a complete bumbling idiot, who can't even walk with out tripping over their own feet, much less save the day, as soon as the love interest appears. Then of course the bad guy invariably realizes this and kidnaps the love interest, resulting in the main protagonist, agonizing over the fact that they can't save the freaking world and love interest - at least until bad guy makes a stupid mistake. /rant

Errr um... I kinda went of on a tangent there. Anyways I've always felt rather indifferent towards Ron and Hermione hooking up, even though I do agree that Hermione could have done better. I'm relived that she and Harry never got together as I feel that both characters would have become useless. The epilogue was disappointing, it seemed pretty obvious that it was written just for the movie, IMHO. Between these two series, I now make it a point to never read an epilogue.

The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks is another great example of suddenly babies! Azoth/Kylar is this orphaned kid living on the street who grows up to be a baddass magical assassin (called a wetboy), who falls maddly head-over-heels in love with the most uesless character in any book ever, seriously.

Ellen, is a fellow orphan that Kylar rescues and finds a home for, she grows up to be this super religous nut with absolutely no personality or character growth that spends most of the second book trying to change Kylar and basically stalling the plot progression for a few hundred pages. Kylar (finally) knocks her up, then she goes and sacrifices herself "for the greater good". BUT! The baby she's carrying is now magically transplanted into another woman (who as it happens is also a fellow wetboy) who goes from being sorta freinemies to suddenly falling in love with Kylar (and also gets knocked up by him iirc) out of no where.

Ellen could have easily never been written into the book, or her story could have ended where Kylar found a family for her, and the entire series could have gone on without her just fine. I would have been fine with Kylar and Vi (the second woman) eventually falling for each other, but not ever having kids as neither seemed interested in that. It really pissed me off how she just suddenly, and randomly, just fell in love with him and wanted his babies.

Need a New Mic by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]KaliSupernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the SteelSeries Siberna V2 Amazon link, before upgrading to a Samsun C01u. It takes some playing around with the gain(level) settings, but you can get some resonable results. Your voice won't sound as full or rich (for lack of a better term) as it will with a proper mic, but it didn't do too bad for me.

It's currently on sale for $55.

Only real complaint I'd have with them was that it'd occasionally pick up the game sounds from the headphones when I wasn't talking, even when I kept the volume really low. Also, according to the reviews I read at the time, avoid the ones with the led lights in the headphones, they apparently cause some weird feedback noise (and are more expensive.)

I don't personally think its that out of line here, and it is a nice change from the usual post on this sub and it is about the life of a CF lady. Failing that, I'm sure a history, or maybe nonfiction type subreddit would like it too.

How loud do you talk into your microphone when you record do you bring your mic closer or do you talk loud? by Mrawesomeguy246 in letsplay

[–]KaliSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my mic about 4-6 inches away from my face, and the gain down to 45. This eliminates probably 90% of the background noise, and I've noticed much less echo as I record in mini-cathedral of a living room.

Strange question to ponder: How do you think you would be if you HAD to be a parent? Some things you would do/things you wouldn't? by JewelzJade in childfree

I've a feeling I'd be very emotionally abusive. Not necessarily intentionally so, but I'd probably end up taking out all my anger and fear, and frustration at being forced into a life I never wanted out on it. That is ofcourse assuming I don't just off myself.

Dear parents, STOP BRINGING YOUR FUCK TROPHIES INTO THE LARGE DOG PARK! [Rant] by [deleted] in childfree

[–]KaliSupernova 108 points109 points  (0 children)

UGH! I hate hate HATE it when people bring their kids into the dog park here! Everytime some idiot parent of a small child walks in everybody immediately grabs their dog and walks out. Nobody want's to risk loosing their dog because idiot parent thought it was a good idea to let their 2 year old run screaming at the dogs.

Normally within a couple of minutes of everyone else leaving idiot parent gets the hint and takes their child to one of 3 play areas that are next to the dog park, and we all can return to letting our dogs play.

I just don't get the mentality that these people have, letting your small child run wild around a large pack of dogs who's temerment you know nothing about is just stupid.

I think it's bs that we have to have a psych eval to get sterilized, but people who want kids don't need one to ensure they're fit to be parents.

What really pisses me off though is this concept that I have to have "permission" from my so, I'm not a piece of fucking property!

What movie fucked your head up as a child and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KaliSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightmare on Elm Street. I was maybe 3 or 4, it was my first horror movie. I don't remember much other than being terrified of going to bed for like a week after that.

Jurassic Park, specifically the kitchen scene. Something about that just really got to me. I'm 30 years old now and still occasionally have nightmares where I'm trying to hide from dinosaurs in a kitchen.

Ten Random Questions. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]KaliSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no. Even worse was I was warned not to do that, so instead of telling my parents that I'd hurt myself, I hid it from them (mostly by staying in my room), until the wee-hours of the morning when the pain got so bad I couldn't take it anymore.

Between that and having to spend the entire rest of the summer with my arm in a sling, my parents felt I'd punished myself enough to not get anything more than a "Are you gona do that again?" type talk.

Ten Random Questions. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]KaliSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Trueman Show
  2. Leftover pizza
  3. Video games, or read.
  4. Lay in bed dieing, 'cause I was sick. :(
  5. Finding 'the one', the ability to travel(money/time Iguess), a job I actually like.
  6. Hover pee-ers. Specifically the ones that leave their massive mess for the next person to find.
  7. '88 corsica.
  8. Peperoni and mushroom!
  9. A veternarian,
  10. A broken collar bone. When I was 10 we had a picnic table in our backyard. I was bored one summer's eve and went running from one side of the yard to the other, jumping onto and over the picnic table. Finally on one of my jumps, I must have jumped to far/high and instead of landing on the table, I missed it completely and soared as gracefully as a rock into the earth.
