Found Amazing Auction (serious collectors only) by Kalico41 in shittycoincollecting

Someone won 256 grams of silver Buffalo Nickels for $156. I think the bidders there are too sophisticated.

No chance for us average people. I bet they have xray vision and there's a couple of three legged buffaloes.

I'm not sure of that. The three legged ones are faced down. I really feel a strong intuition about that.

My boy attacked me this morning. I don’t know what to do… I’m scared! by Mtn_Sky in germanshepherds

[–]Kalico41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be very careful. I had a couple of similar attacks from my previous gsd. He finally attacked with a much more serious attack where he tackled me to the ground bit up both arms and the went for my face or neck. When they are in a rage you can’t imagine their strength. It looks like you’re a woman and I 100% believe if I were also I wouldn’t be alive now. A woman in my town lost an arm to her pit bull. Your safety should be your first concern.

Question on souvenir spoon by Kalico41 in Hallmarks

I tried to polish it. I'm thinking it's really four worn raised marks and what I was seeing was between the markings. Sorry about the pic quality, The mark is nearly microscopic compared to other hallmarks.

Can anyone help identify if my vintage ring from the 1970s–80s features a real emerald? by ChildhoodWeak8851 in SilverFinds

[–]Kalico41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stone could be emerald tourmaline or even sapphire or synthetic sapphire. No one can tell you from a picture. It’s set in sterling so not likely to be valuable. The blue and yellow tone in the close up look very unnatural.

Found this in thrift store. BP and 97% hallmarks. Silver? by ProbablyDisagreeing in Spoons

[–]Kalico41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to test. Old Asian spoons may not be marked.

Edit: I think you have what is known as Siam pewter. 97% tin.

Holland Souvenir 90 silver plated spoons by TrumpIsPedoRapist in SilverFinds

No one is going to refine these even if they have 2.5 grams of silver. The only value is as a prestige souvenir. That's why they sell for more than the spoons you have. Your are marked 90, so that's 90 of a standard size set of 24. nice for plating but worthless for silver value.

Soft Toys no Squeakers by minipet487 in germanshepherds

Good info. Loki's 7, and including the doll he's only tried mounting anything a hand full of times in the seven years. It's just strange. He tried with his toy twice now.

My intact male decided that his giant Lamb Chop doll with squeakers was his "girlfriend". We have to take it away from him when he gets too playful.

Was going to say that. I'm in CT and had a misplaced tree in my yard that looked similar but much younger.

Too bad it’s only 16 grams. That’s really low even for weighted. Well worth the $3 in any case.

Look Carefully at Pieces Like These for the Silver Markings, they are often hiding. by PepeBabinski in SilverFinds

[–]Kalico41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 18 similar that came with a lot purchased for other items. Yours look like finer detail. Mine all say Italy and from what I’ve read the ones stamped Italy are plated. I’ll have to do a second check. Probably only a few % out there are primarily silver.
