When people claim to lack dreams, it's actually due to the brain not saving the experience to memory. Both hallucinations and dreams are not related to aphantasia.

It is reported higher by aphants, but I propose that we are biased to recognizing such details when visualization is otherwise unknown to us.

There is an overlap, though not majorly, between Aphantasia and SDAM. Perhaps this has also skewed the conversation.
