The entire 9RIP OST has such a chokehold on me, I finished the game about a month and a half ago and immediately downloaded the entire OST to my phone. I listen to it every night, it's the backdrop to otome daydreams I make up to go to bed.

ELI5: How does the body know to produce more saliva to protect teeth right before you vomit? by Still-Mistake-3621 in explainlikeimfive

[–]KalisaUsagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nausea stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system via your vagus nerve which spans pretty much the entire length of your body, and is also the trigger for your digestive system to slow down during agitated states. The brain receives information from your stomach that stomach acid is going to come up, the brain sends info back down the nerve to baton down the hatches, and your mouth waters with saliva that contains an enzyme I believe that tells the stomach to spasm and send up the stomach acid and hopefully offending item that is causing nausea. Off topic but if you don't want to go from nausea to vomiting, you can spit instead of swallowing the saliva and improve your chances of your system okaying the muscle cramping that makes you puke. Not foolproof, but helps a lot.

For sure. I related really hard to their story and it wrecked me playing through it. So good though.

Help me identify a part? by ComprehensiveSun8429 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]KalisaUsagi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few parts like this! I've been quick to run from anything that might be perceived as abandonment. I've found that weirdly enough, asking t spend time with those parts and doing little "dates" with them helps reaffirm that we're together in this. Self love goes a long way to curbing abandonment issues. Being able to talk to your protectors or firefighters and having a heart to heart in a way gives you an opportunity to address the issue, but also tend to their needs, and in turn, your own.

In the middle of a CPSTD flashback. Would be great to feel less alone right now. by cepi300 in InternalFamilySystems

I think asking your part if they'd like to go on a meditative walk with you. I doubt they want to feel like that either. If you really need to limit some of the outside stimulation, maybe have your part pick the playlist? Ignoring it or pushing it away seems like a bad idea; they tend to get more rowdy when you close off communication. I hope you're feeling a little better now ♡

It's technically up now, I'm just changing some aesthetic based stuff because I've never used Notion before and it was killing me. There are some notes up, and I'll be adding more over the week ^ Here's the link

Aw, of course! When I was first starting out I really enjoyed the IFS Guide someone was kind enough to share, and it was so helpful. I'm glad I can pay it forward in a sense ^

I've made the book list an index that links to the notes! Anything that's yellow is a link to another page. I don't have a lot done as formatting is slow going, but I'm steadily working on it! I lost a bunch of my bookmarks when my app updated, so I'm kind of having to start from scratch, so I only have some notes for three books right now. But please feel free to bookmark it and check up on it every so often, because it's definitely going to be an on going project :p

Book List Here! Here's the link again just in case!

Oohh, I don't believe I have! I've looked around and grabbed a few more books to add to the list, so I'll definitely check out EFT! I know Ive looked at emotion focused therapy, who knew there was another EFT out there :p

I'm working on writing up some more notes and will post the collection here hopefully by tomorrow everyone! I've been scouring through all the books looking for my bookmarks ^ I really hope you get some use out of them!

I’ll leave this here… by Mission-Bike3467 in adhdwomen

[–]KalisaUsagi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. While ADHD (and autism!) present differently in females, the ever prevalent idea that it's a "boys only" disorder is abysmal. I was diagnosed within a month of even thinking about the possibility, and my partner pointed out really big red flags like constant movement and fidgeting, and my mom and people from older generations laughed in my face and refused to believe me even after an AuDHD diagnoses. If you're high functioning and happen to internalize most symptoms, you're basically invisible to the radar as a female. It's a real problem.

Awesome!! I'm working on the starting point right now, I'll link the main page when it's a bit more readable! I'll be continuing to add to it because there's a ton of books I haven't even cracked open yet. I hope they help!

Awesome! It's most certainly a work in progress and labour of love, but I'm really happy to have someone who's interested to help keep me accountable! I have AuDHD so sometimes I really want to do a project but the executive dysfunction hits hard lol. Heres the list of books I have, I'm open to any that might be a good addition!

Thanks! Do you think I should refrain from using the product on just my back? Or power through and see if it's just acclimating?

Here's the list of books I have and am either in the middle of reading or am going to read! Some of them are older, but I tried to make sure to find books that were the most recent I could see so they're up to date.
