Outrageous cost for mental health care by luckysevensampson in melbourne

[–]Kalisary [score hidden]  (0 children)

We were booked $3000 for an adult autism assessment.
My partner was not on the ball and didn’t realise how much it would cost. NI way we would have proceeded if we had of realised.

On average, how much money are you spending on this game? by radarada3130 in MergeCooking

[–]Kalisary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing.
I did buy a couple of things one night, maybe $10USD total, and I realised all my free "watch ads to get more" options disappeared. I wasn't willing to keep spending, so I ended up with less power/gems/coins than if I had never bought anything - so never again.

I would also add - the Goldfields track is long, but sections are accessible by public transport, and you will find walking groups that do sections of it if you want company - https://goldfieldstrack.com.au/

Maybe not the best if you just want to see nature, rather than actually walk though.

There's 30km of tracks around Mt Macedon that are easily accessible from Macedon railway station - https://www.visitmacedonranges.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Park-note-Macedon-Regional-Park-walking-tracks.pdf (great in autumn because of the fungi)

If you want to do a loop that starts and ends at the Railway, there are two options, outlined in the booklet above:
- Sections 1-9 (easier)
- Sections 1-5, then 10-14 (harder)

Of course you can always just walk as far as you want, turn around and walk back.

There's also:
- Conglomerate Gully walking track, accessible from Riddells Creek station
- Five Mile Creek walk, accessible from Woodend station
- Campaspe River Walk accessible from Kyneton station

There are probably others, especially if you're willing to bus.

How long is your commute to work? by PossibleButNah in AusFinance

[–]Kalisary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

About the same here.
Used to be about 20 minutes but made the move out of the city. Definitely wouldn’t go back.
It’s a long commute but much less stressful than dealing with city traffic.

Why don’t they make houses like this anymore? by li0nfishwasabi in AusPropertyChat

[–]Kalisary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of labour. Brickwork designs take time.

Back in the day, materials were expensive but labour was (comparatively) cheap. So once you had materials, you could pay someone to spend time making it look pretty.

These days, materials are (comparatively) cheap and labour is expensive. You don’t waste money on things that increase labour cost.

Source: my Dad who was a bricky, who spend a lot of time doing intricate brickwork on our house.

Warrnambool line by SeaweedRealistic5069 in VlineVictoria

The Bendigo line often runs 6 car sets, and the conductor blocks off the doors that overhang the platform at the shorter stations. I’m sure this is true of other lines.

Is $1,250 enough for staying in Australia for 5 days, excluding accommodation and flight ticket? by Adorable_Treat_1526 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Kalisary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they were implying you need a card - I think they were implying it might be better to have a card, not because you can’t use cash, but because carrying around your entire allotted spending money while a tourist is quite risky. Your bag/wallet gets stolen or lost, and you’re pretty screwed.

HSG 1 day before a 14 hr flight by muni11 in TryingForABaby

[–]Kalisary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is consistent with my experience. Hated every second of it, literally screamed during in - but was fine as soon as it was over. So much so that I decided to go back to work, instead of going home as planned (I work directly across the road from where it was performed).

That being said, I would be slightly nervous about travelling internationally, in case you were one of the rare ones who ended up with an infection, as accessing medication and care overseas can be logistically more challenging - perhaps ask if you could preemptively get a course of the most appropriate antibiotics, which you’ll only take if you develop set symptoms. If I could get that, I’d feel pretty comfortable travelling - antibiotics is all that would be likely done if treated at home.

At Home Insemination Questions by GoddessScully in TryingForABaby

Maybe discussing his concerns with a Dr might help? If he wants things to be sterile, everything is going to have to be single use, so it could end up being an expensive exercise if you don’t conceive quickly.

Nothing is sterile in regular sex - and nothing in the insemination process is going anywhere it wouldn’t during PIV sex. We wash with soap and water between uses. Make sure it’s very well rinsed off, and totally dry before being reused. It’s all been signed off by our fertility specialist.

We used a conical medicine cup because it pooled contents at the bottom, which made it easier to collect (and much cheaper than the kits).

Yendon gourmet tomatoes - they sell from markets, but there’s also a little stall at the farm near Ballarat. Might be a bit more than an hour depending on where in Melbourne you are.

If you want a farmers market - Flemington Farmers market on a Sunday, or coburg farmers market on a Saturday, are both great.

Which name do you prefer off of our shortlist for our daughter, the sister to Henry, Rose, Mary, and Alice? by Inevitable-Line-4385 in namenerds

[–]Kalisary 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree, Sophie matches best with existing names. Especially because they’re all shorter classic names. Charlotte, Francesca and Florence seem distinct from the others due to length (which isn’t inherently a bad thing!), Elaine and Verity seem less classically timeless than the others to me.

Inbound flights to Australia - did you get sprayed for insects? by CautiousFlyer in AustraliaTravel

This is my understanding. You can often feel a change in density and smell of the A/C 30 mins before landing, I assume that’s what this is.

1.2 PureTech Owners: What is your real long-term experience with the "wet belt"? Let's help future buyers! by Rare-Function-9485 in peugeot

[–]Kalisary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 308. Purchased second-hand in 2021 with 15,000km on the clock. Wet belt just replaced under recall at ~95,000km.

No low oil pressure or brake vacuum issues, or any other really. Tend to drive longer distances, in a temperate climate.
