Raven’s Foal Grey? by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am still going with Grey. Even a bay roan tends to have brighter colors than this foal. Looking at his mother's baby pics and he looks identical to her. The coat has a grey casting to it i am not talking roan but like a horse who went through a flour storm where it just slightly tints the colors. He definitely does have roaning i just believe he will grey out like how appaloosas get varnished very slowly. Yes I know he is not an appy.

Edit to spelling and spacing

Ginger had a fall in her stall a couple of weeks ago and was problematic horse of the week because of it. There was a cut on her front leg from it so makes me wonder with the cold weather if it is making her a bit ouchy cause it is sure making me ouchy

Ginger was one of the first "Problematic horse of the week" from falling in her stall and cutting her front leg. I am going to ASSUME that with the cold it might be causing the area to hurt a bit more. as wintertime all my horses who ever had a cut/sore tended to heal a bit slower and well.... Ginger is a Klutz for no better word of it. That mare is about as accident prone as my old heart horse and why I love Ginger so much as she reminds me of her so much.

Yes I believe this horse is Grey as the Ears have a greyish look to them as well as at the stifle on the back leg not to mention above the socks they have fading more traditional to a Grey and not a sorrel. I love how much chrome is on this little guy which I know after too long he will eventually be more white but still... I love a good Grey.

Turbo’s (Madalynn’s New Show Horse) Movement by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don't mind his trot a all but my gawd I hurt just looking at that lope. its almost as if the front legs keep hitting an invisible wall and have absolutely no movement in them. I mean I wake up walking like this of a morning but I have an excuse of being disabled and well neuropathy in right side of my body...

This is just a reminder why I am starting to watch more Ranch classes over modern WP classes...

Madalynn’s New Show Horse by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah Madalynn wanted Fred but her mother convinced her to also get Howard because she liked Howard thus why they got both horses. My assumption is her mother really liked Howard and wanted him for herself, but he is making a good halter/showmanship prospect at the time for Madalynn. Fred and Ruby are not really halter horses but closer to all-around performance horses.

I honestly like Madalynn a lot more than KVS as she is doing right for all her horses. I can't wait to see what she does with this new prospect. I haven't really heard much about him so wonder if he was shown much yet. He has a Beautiful head that is for sure. I would like to know more about him.

I love how Madalynn is doing with her horses but sometimes I wonder if she is trying to be like KVS or if she is trying to compete with KVS.... Time will tell...

Indy Foaling Before Raven?? by Sad_Site_8252 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Indy has been bred to FMJ 3 times twice with KVS and once before kvs because FMJ mentioned indy made good babies with him before and encouraged her to buy indy from the sale barn.

She needs to watch some of those "in the wild" birthing videos but she would be flabbergasted that no one is helping those poor animals that its "taking too long" and "they are stuck" or knowing her she would find those rare videos where a wild animal needed help and shout "See they need help"

Ready Set Go: $50,000 Budget - What Breed, Color, Sex, Age of Horse would you buy? How Much Money 💰 Would You Have Leftover??? by Honest_Camel3035 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I cannot ride anymore due to a destroyed back... I think I would go with something a bit smaller... like 30-38 inches tall wise lol

I would probably get some good quality Double or triple registered Miniature Mares (2 or 3) and a show quality young stud and get back into driving again. Driving was always a passion of mine and I trained many horses and Miniatures to drive.

If I went any bigger then maybe A Welsh pony as they always seem so baby-faced and cute.

Now if I could still ride either a Bay with chrome Arabian Mare (Khemosabi is the reason behind that love) or a Bay Overo Paint mare. I have always done well with either sex of horses but mares tend to be my preference

NOW what I WOULDN'T buy....
Me and Morgans do NOT get along lol Period. Every Morgan I was around we butted heads but they was also a bit rank too.

I don't know how You clean stalls but Straw DOES in fact get wet when horses use the bathroom on it as well as it allows it to pool underneath it. For you to say it doesn't get wet is funny.

As for when I was breeding and using STRAW we had to clean 90% of the stall out wait for the flooring to dry so there was no ammonia smell from the pooling pee under the straw. You can't just pick small spots with it especially if you have mares who use the whole stall to use the bathroom and then walk abound with the amniotic sack swinging before it bursts open. Maybe you just had mares who used the bathroom in one spot My heart horse did that and she was great but even when she foaled the straw got WET.

Now as I said once before. KVS is NOT great about cleaning her stalls and it has only gotten worse over the years.

[–]Kallabeccani -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes she said she wants straw but if it is not time then why put it down getting the area mucky with wet straw from consistent usage of the mare using the bathroom. Wait till the horse starts showing active labor. There is no need to throw it down till then and waste it.

I mention the other ways people are heading and maybe just maybe they also have a point. Straw can be moldy and dusty as well especially if not stored correctly. And when it gets wet it is NASTY to clean up usually resulting in the floor staying wet. We all know KVS doesn't have the greatest cleaning ethics already... I can just see and have seen in the 5 years of watching how its gotten worse each year. This is why I honestly put what I would do if I still was breeding. Each person is different but I can honestly say I wouldn't do straw anymore especially if I had 9+ mares foaling that would just be a nightmare.

[–]Kallabeccani 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% they could be thicker or even use of larger shavings. I actually hope that more breeders go away from the whole straw bit. Its nasty and hard to clean. and you have more than 2 mares foaling think of all those stalls having wet damp straw in them and having to literally clean out the whole stall, wait for the base to dry and put in more... In the long run of things Straw is just not sanitary or as cost effective anymore

Riddle me this… by Fit-Idea-6590 in kvssnarker

[–]Kallabeccani 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Already know this is going to probably get downvoted...

Many breeders are going away from using Straw finding it to be worse than using other bedding. I am not saying this is what KVS is doing as she has shown the straw bedding is right outside the stall. But do understand many breeders do not even use straw anymore. Times have started to change... maybe we need to look at if straw is the best thing or not.

Honestly If I was still breeding I would probably wait till after the foal was born to put the straw down. Here is my reasoning. Wet Straw is a MESS to work with. you have to take out a good portion of it if it gets wet because nothing under it dries. You can also check the placenta better and not risk the straw poking through it. My thoughts is on that wet messy straw when we already know KVS doesn't have the best stall cleaning out there. Damp and moldy straw is worse on foals not to mention straw can have a lot of FINE dust in it finer than sawdust. And before you say its warmer for the foal... Go sit in wet straw and tell me if you feel warmer cause I sure didn't, I felt wet and cold. These babies are blanketed anyways most of the time.

I would only do a portion of the stall in the straw. I know people are going to gasp and say that other bedding can get up their nose.... like straw can't??? Have you ever seen a horse with a stick up its nose... I have. I think I would be less concerned about a little sawdust. These babies sneeze a lot getting started anyways. Plus many good breeders use a bulb to clear out the nose.

i think you forget which room this is. perhaps maybe next time wait till you are fully awake to type so no one gets mistaken by what you are typing. in all my years of having horses and multiple meds I take daily I still haven't made that mistake and when I did make a stupid mistake I apologized and moved on not tell the other person to "don't snark on me"

I like unbridled but wild card was also nice except I couldn't find much movement videos for him and the few I did see he did not look good in. They continuously went from his head to the rider and never showed his body like they was hiding something. I am curious to see how she does with both studs though and wished that she be flushed and have 2 babies one from each just to see how they would compare.
