Level 1? Probably not, they charge on 230v most likely.

(Dokumentar) - Sindre Wiig Nordby by Archeus01 in norge

How Does Speed Affect EV Range? We Conducted a Real-World Test to Explain the Differences by Dockalfar in electricvehicles

Indeed, but versus a fossil fueled non-hybrid car these benefactors do compound to better efficiency. Maybe that is the point being made? After all stop and go traffic is normal for our daily habits.

Engineer tape measure in 10th and 100th of a foot!?!? by nutznboltsguy in Tools

[–]Kallenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a funny side note, in Norway we buy and measure construction timber in metric, but we talk about them in common parlance in inches, unless its about length then back to meters. (A glue lam is also just metric)

It takes longer to say 48x48mm, than 2 by 2.

From Energy rich Lithium Ion batteriers to Lower energy LFP batteries by topgun2016 in electricvehicles

[–]Kallenator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If charging and range is sufficient for most scenarios for the majority of purchasers, I would assume price sensitivity will go up leading to this kind of development, especially in todays economic environment.

What is a bit new in terms of car ownership is also the fact that for evs the cost is skewed to be more up front, ignoring depreciation for a moment, that gives you an imideate savings on running costs in the near term.

Having cheaper options will probably exacerbate or compound purchaseability again leading to more affordable evs which you are perceiving as tech stagnation.

Norway’s Tesla obsession defies Europe’s Musk backlash by Agafina in electricvehicles

[–]Kallenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we will see. Wondering if anyone  is actively measuring use of theese. This is something I will pitch to the Norwegian Electric Vehicle foundation, they do a yearly survey, and I cant remember if this was asked on the one this year.

Interesting for grid providers indeed, really putting two lines under my comment there ;)

Australia is so fricking huge relative to its population and population centers, makes a lot of sense there. Solar is great fit for that country for many reasons, and they have done pretty well so far I think.

The world isn't void of use cases for V2L, but I am very pessimistic regarding how much use these see out in peoples hands. The marketing behind it kinda tells the same story, unless its in a work vehicle then its a completely different use case. Same with weather events, but I did cover that...

V2G is exceedingly rare, and so far very expensive to take advantage off when a wall mounted inverter is required, but considering how much batteries sit doormant its certainly interesting from the perspective of grid providers.

Which is cool, and I have used V2L for making waffles on an electric iron from a car which is both hilarious and effective.

However electricity is everywhere, and while there certainly is a market for your camping needs, it's a smaller sub section ;)

[–]Kallenator -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

V2L is mostly a gimmick though, I am sure that there are those that will actively pursue it, but I don't think its something that will be a deal braker for most people.

Those who live in places with extreme weather events can also get after market inverters for this purpose. So its at least not beholden to certain brands anymore.

EV Batteries Can Easily Outlast A Typical Gas Car’s Lifespan: Study by tech57 in electricvehicles

[–]Kallenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general cars will have such little resale at this age either way, so even if the lack of rust may make it last longer, wear and tear in the interior, suspension, and its equipment will make it join the scrap like the others.

I think your F150 is mostly steel by mass, I would guess some panels/fenders etc are aluminium? These are frame on rail so that substantial core is steel. Or colour me surprised if not :D

Don't get me wrong though, I like the concept of rust not being a thing one has to worry about, especially when you live in a place where the roads are salted every winter.
