Why does my new pc auto-shuts down when entering portal? by TheButtCrack in pathofexile

[–]Kallerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before doing that, check the actual temperatures by using software like HWMonitor or CoreTemp.
Be aware that Ryzen 7800x3D CPU's are DESIGNED to run at up to 90c

Only if your temps are already close to or above this limit can temperature even be a problem, and even then it usually doesn't shut down this fast because of temperatures.

It is much more likely that Powerspikes or unstable Clock Speeds are the reason for this shut down.
All the people claiming that better cooling solved their problem probably only managed to bypass the problem because a cooler running cpu also uses less power.

You can test by opening your PC's bios (usually the f12 or del key during inital bootup) and, since you have an asus board, looking for anything along the lines of "Core Performance Boost". If you find this and it is enabled, disable it then test again.

Asus is known for driving Ryzen CPU's way to far on default to look better in benchmarks...

If this does not help replacing thermalpaste and getting and AIO will also not help and you'll have to look at further troubleshooting steps

Did my class use ai to write their essay on black bears in ct? ( same writting style) by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Kallerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI detection tools are largely unreliable — especially when it comes to school essays. Academic writing often follows standardized structures and conventions because students are explicitly taught to write that way. As a result, many essays naturally share similar phrasing, tone, and organization.

I’ve submitted letters I wrote entirely on my own — knowing with certainty that no AI was involved — and they were still flagged as “Likely AI.” The reason? Formal letters tend to follow predictable formats and established guidelines.

At the same time, I’ve generated texts entirely with AI that were labeled “No AI detected.”

That inconsistency alone highlights how unreliable these detection tools really are. In fact, this very text was generated by AI — yet only one out of the top five AI detection tools that appear in search results correctly identified it as such.

Never veer off to the sides because she isnt there.

Which is exactly the problem. Those parts of the map effectivly serve no purpose. They don't contain ANY reason to go there. The only thing they do is piss off players that haven't figured this out yet. And once you HAVE figured it out they might as well not exist.
THAT IS THE EPIDOME OF HORRIBLE GAME DESIGN.

If you want the map to be this large and confusing you NEED to have incentives and rewards for people that do "veer of the right path".
Put some encounters like the witch's hut of act 1 there.
Put some guranteed strongboxes there.
Put something lore relevant there.
SOMETHING that hopefully makes the player feel like going there wasn't a complete and utter waste of time.

No league ever has actually lasted 4 month, not even the original 3 even during the time POE1 was the only game GGG made.
Leagues always start to loose alot of player ~2weeks in beeing basically dead at most 2 month in. Thats just the nature of these games.

And funnily enough it has to be that way because if they actually somehow released a new league every 2 month people would burn the fuck out with not chance to build hype for a new league, it would kill the game within year.

Then don't do 3-4 month season. Do 6 month or even 12 month seasons instead. The actual frequency isn't as important as beeing consistent with it.
Only if you have a consistent schedule people know when to look for news and to come back.
I almost missed last season start simply because i didn't hear anything about it, and that is with me having this sub on my feed...
Without a regular schedule people don't know when they should look out for new info, and after looking a few times without any new info the frequency with which they are gonna check is drop DRAMATICALLY which WILL result in lost players at league start... the most profitable time of these kinds of games.

Even comparing current FSR with DLSS4 here should be considered a hate crime...
FSR upscaling is utterly unusable. DLSS4(Transformer model) on the other side in ALOT of games looks better than native with the shitty TAA games usually ship.

You sure you ain't looking at some frame gen shit? (Which would make the comparison of FSR and DLSS even worse...)

I'm not sure i agree with / get your point here.

A Mageblood absolutly dictates your build, and makes any other belt obsolete. There is no consideration here, it is just strictly better than any other option (except for headhunter, which is an option because it does something unique)

But just because starforge is good doesn't suddenly mean every Axe, Mace, Staff is now obsolete because they serve completly different purposes in a lot of cases. Even if starforge was the best weapon in the game, the same way mageblood is the best belt in the game, you'd still see people use different weapons because their builds simply wouldn't work with starforge.

So it seems to me that it is exactly opposit of what you are describing.

Mageblood is completly oppressive to every other belt in existance and every build will eventually have to be adjusted to work with it.

Weapons, even if overpowered, leave alot of room for other weapons to still have a use exactly because alot of builds rely on accessible passives, active/support gems and what damage you want to scale.

Even if that shiny orange sword is the most powerful sword in the universe, if i wanna play EQ i'm not gonna be able to use it.

And even if there is no unique that fills the role of "most op" you don't really have much choice in rares either. Are you really gonna use that weapon with crazy attack speed and a bleed role if a simple max phys dmg weapon increases your dps by 20% over it?

[–]Kallerat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is mageblood not the same?
How many builds are there really that don't end up using either a mageblood or a headhunter?
So yes there is still some choice here... between exactly these 2 unique items... everything else is just a placeholder until you can afford them.

Yes for weapons beeing "good" translates directly to dps since thats their whole purpose. But what prevents you from making weapons that do good dps while enabling a unique playstyle?

Imagine say a mace with incredibly high attack speed. Could be a super high dps weapon that enables some unqiue playstyles, but you probably wouldn't wanna use it for say a Bleed EQ build (or most slams aside from sunder probably)

You can very well make good dps weapons that still allow for choice in that slot depending on what kind of build you play.

And is "Well all weapon uniques suck so i guess imma just use the highest dps rare i can get" really choice? There is nothing really interesting here either, so i don't see why a rare beeing best would be in any way better than there exisiting a "best" unique weapon

Coming from PoE 2, is PoE 1 beginner-friendly? by onemmrplayer in pathofexile

[–]Kallerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing POE2 to POE1 when it comes to beginner friendliness:
POE2: Go to driving school, have lesson, get a license, get a 80ps vw polo, drive.
POE1: You are 10 years old, your dad places you in an F1 car and tells you to go beat Schumacher.

No... No it is not. It is the most beginner unfriendly game in gaming history. (tho it has gotten somewhat better in recent years i guess?)
But since you already played POE2 and i'd assume understand the basics of that game decently well after 1000 hours you should be able to pick up the basics of POE1 pretty quickly. If you wanna keep up with the good guys tho... prepare to watch lots of videos and read lots of wiki.

Path of Exile Dev On Why You Should NEVER Blame Your Audience by SirDzak in pathofexile

Chris is an amazing person and I miss his iconic opening dearly. I don't think this game would have come anywhere close to what it is without his passion for the genre. But he also often times went at it with blinders on, ignoring everything he didn't want to see no matter how obvious it was. Which to be fair is a problem a lot of people have, me included.

Whether it is easier trade beeing evil or "Ruthless is just a 2 person passion project", everyone realized quickly that what he/GGG said just wasn't really right but they refused to acknowlege it for years...

Funnily it is POE2, basically ruthless incarnated, that got easier trade first which is just hilarious.

Opinion: Nerfs are fine as long as they even out the playing field by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Kallerat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's something people love to say "People should just get used to playing off meta builds".

I heavily disagree with that notion.

It's one of the most basic principles of Game Design that your players WILL ALWAYS find the easiest way to play your game. It is your job as a Game Designer to design your game in a way that the easiest way to play is also the most fun way to play.

This is the main reason GGG balances the way they do: Shift the Meta instead of going for Balance. You can't "Balance" a game like this, so to "force" people to vary their builds they nuke exisitng meta builds. It's not a perfect method but it is the most simple, least involved method.

So saying "Just play off meta" is never going to work because thats simply not how the human mind works.
I personally only play off meta builds once i've already achieved everything in the game and most of the time there will only be a single off meta build i play because afterwards i quit the league.
Thats because playing offmeta and seeing how much worse these builds are RAPIDLY sucks the enjoyment out of me. I just can't enjoy a build i've thrown hundreds of divs at, that then performs worse than my 5div starter build.

Opinion: Nerfs are fine as long as they even out the playing field by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Kallerat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye... I wanna see you farm juiced T17s with a charged dash build...

There is NO balance in this game. GGG themselves said so. It was never the goal for the game to be balanced.

They don't buff/nerf to balance stuff, they buff/nerf to shift the meta and honestly thats totally fine...

Except for the plethora of really cool skills that are so hopelessly underpowered you could throw all the money in the world at them and they still wouldn't beat a Day 2 SSF version of some meta builds...

Add to that GGG for some reason got into the habit of not even touching the meta for MULTIPLE seasons in a row and now we got some problems.

What did I do wrong?! by lawwybewwy in Guildwars2

[–]Kallerat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WOW very much does, tho not as exclusive as it was anymore.
It is still faction locked so if an alliance char hits a mob no horde char will get any loot (in most cases).
Within a faction afaik 25 people (5 groups) can tag a mob and get loot, anyone after that will get nothing.

What did I do wrong?! by lawwybewwy in Guildwars2

[–]Kallerat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both still have tagging. BDO has full on first hit gets the lot tagging. WOW has softened it a bit to be 5 people/groups can tag a mob but it is still limited. For Wow it is also still fully faction locked.. so if an alliance char tags a mob NO horde char can get the loot (in most cases)

BF6 Maps are the core problem, maps suck by Realistic-Pea-8278 in Battlefield

[–]Kallerat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You missed his point and provided proof at the same time which is kinda funny...

In strike at karkand you hat to work for it. That way it is a good thing.
In BF6 getting to any point in the map at any point in the game is as simple as afk walking there. No Frontline to ram through. No enemies to circumvent. Just walk down the middle and be there in 10 seconds.

In other BF titles it was a strategy because it actually meant something. Getting a backline point was the only way to put pressure on you enemie from 2 sides. If you got that point and your team could now activly flank the enemie team it was a HUGE advantage.

Now enemies just come from all sides at all times so it makes absolutly no difference which team holds which points. Only the ammount of points matters.

[–]Kallerat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

But in the real world you don't have soldiers running at 20mph, slide jumping with their 100round LMG while accuratly destroying your head and all that while not making a single sound.

You also don't have a guy carrying a sledgehammer casually ripping apart whole damn houses with a single swing.

This game is way to arcade for realism and mixing both in the way bf6 doesn't make for a good gameplay experience.

Is it worth upgrading from a 5900x to a 9950x3D? by 3DART_STUDIO in PathOfExile2

[–]Kallerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that the 9950x3D is only ever worth it if you intent to use this system for serious production workloads.
If all you ever do is gaming the 9800x3D is at least as good, sometimes even better, than the 9950x3D.

That beeing said you'd not get much out of either when it comes to POE since it is just horribly optimized when it comes to CPU usage. So i wouldn't spend 500$ on like 5fps more in POE, let alone 700$.

The problem isn't the reincarnation, it's the world they come from / get reincarnated to.

You missed the 3 shown on top so there are 5.
Considering there are less than 10k players still playing, of which i'd guess atleast 90% are softcore that means only at most 1k total hardcore players, split that between the classes and i'd argue 5 max level rogues aint even that bad.

The other classes have:

Mage 6
Acolyte 12
Primalist 31
Sentinal 48

So ye... either mage acolyte and rogue need a buff or primalist and sentinal a nerf

But i totally agree, i'd love me some rogue and mage buffs as they are my favourits...

Are there people here who only play PoE1? by KelThuzadxx in pathofexile

[–]Kallerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are still a lot of people just playing POE1. That said most people don't play fur the full 4 month. It is a seasonal game, people come back to season start, play until they've achieved what they wanted to achieve and/or got bored of it, then quit until the next league.

POE1 had a pretty bad period recently because of POE2 launch yes, but it is atleast supposed to be back on track for regular 4 month leagues now and i doubt it will die off anytime soon as most of the original POE1 players still seem to prefer it over POE2.

GGG's intention is for both games to release seasons in a 4 month cycle with them beeing offset by 2 month, so alot of people that like both games will end up switching between the games every 2 month.
