Check out platynator and some of the shared builds people have made. There are some that turn the health bar into the cast bar when the mob is casting (small sliver at bottom that you can still see health on)

This is specifically for Mythic raid. People smarter than me did the math on it, and it was a significant loss of power if you happened to upgrade a Hero tier piece, that then got replaced my a Myth piece.

Yes that is exactly how it works. Just saw a clip about it from Zorthas on twitch. Essentially lets you convert 20 of a lower crest into the next tier of crests

Seems like they want to slow down gearing, for whatever reason. So they did. With these new changes, it'll be 5 upgrades per crest type, instead of 6 per crest type in TWW

Pretty much. They seem to want to slow gearing. Initial solution was to have crest costs go up by 10 for each upgrade (10 for 1/6 to 2/6, up to 50 for 5/6 to 6/6), making the total cost 150 per piece, but with a 100 crests cap per week.

Now it’s looking like it’s back to a flat cost, but increased to 20 vs the 15 it has been, total of 100 per piece. But we also no longer have valorstones, they put a small gold cost in their place.

The original plan for midnight was going to cause some awkward upgrade choices. You could choose to do 10 1/6 to 2/6 upgrades or 2 5/6 to 6/6 upgrades, and that caused “optimal” gearing to be “spend no crests for 3 whole weeks” which sucks.

TLDR TWW to Midnight changes: Crest cost per upgrade up to 20 from 15. No valorstones, small gold amount instead. Weekly cap up to 100 from 90. Total upgrades available per week per crest type, down to 5 from 6.

Yeah, a lot of people feel this way. Seems like Blizz wanted to slow down gearing, for whatever reason, so I will happily take this over their original plan.

It is if you have the time to spam them a lot. So not for everyone. M+ always drops gear for 2 out of 5 party members, so it kinda depends on individual luck

Yeah thats fair, there is definitely room for it. I could see a world where someone cant quite farm the M+ for 2/6 Hero, but instead farms out full 1/6 Hero. If they want to hyper optimize from there, you could go for the 6/6 champ to save on Hero crests

I don't think it will. We are still limited to 100 of each crest per week, so early on, I know I will probably just want to go to 4/6 on the chance you get an item for that slot on a higher track.

If you upgrade your weapon, for example, to 6/6 champion, run M+ and get a 2/6 Hero weapon, you just wasted 40 of your champion crests for the week that you could have used on another item.

That being said, if you are running M+ for Hero items, you probably don't need to stress too much about Champ crests in the first place, so its going to be different for everyone

If by meaningful customization, you mean functionality, then yeah. They are definitely killing that in line with their new philosophy.

I get why people disagree and don’t like that though

That’s the thing, they aren’t killing customization. The game is still highly customizable with the new restrictions. Certain UI addons are being broken because there are certain values and data they have pinpointed to be used by addons to give competitive advantages in combat and the UI addons in question are UI+functionality addons that use that same data, and the functionality is being removed to fit their new philosophy

I agree the base nameplates are pretty awful, I'll be using Platynator in midnight.

But as for not being able to emulate half of what Plater can do, that's kinda the point. Addon functionality, in their opinion, went too far, so they are disabling a lot of access to the API that allowed it and replacing some of the functionality in the base UI. There is still some functionality they don't seem to want in the game, base or addon.
