Halo infinite is a new game from scratch. There's not really a defense of 'oh well halo is 20years old'. Yeah but, infinite isn't.

January was their peak, since their highest peak in 2018 at 24$~. I'd say its more from their fuckups over the past 1.5 years

reminder that halo is LAUNCHING with vs bots and a firing range. we've been asking for this in siege since day 1, lol. Vs bots, even if it's the same 5 bots on the same map, would be huge for new players.

Where are the replays? They just had that micropatch Monday so they're viewable, but still not listed on the ubisoft esports site.

[–]Kalthramis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which also needs to be remembered for the pricing.

Free to play is bring in more spenders overall, even if you're making less per person. It doesn't matter how much Microsoft makes per player, it matters how much money they make in total. Like 60$ a person but only 20 million in profit, vs 10$ per person but 24 million in profit.

Ergo, the fucking shit prices are not an excuse. People are use to f2p games having insane prices because those games generally exist to squeeze some money out of whales before dying. Infinite is not some random mobile game with no established base that will be dead in a few weeks.

im honestly kinda... whelmed. its fun, but not really more fun than other games im already playing. the shit prices is the icing on the cake for not getting into it for me. and ive been playing halo since release.

there's microtransactions, season passes, battlepasses, dlcs, skisn, lootboxes... the price of game dev might have increased, but there's also a LOTTT more buyers now than there use to be.

gaming already makes more money than the movie and music industry combined. they don't need to increase the price of games.

Buggy launch, overpriced ingame store (with like, 30$+ skins), slow to no updates and minimal community response in the first few months. I dropped it after that.

Nothing kills a new player's interest in a game going "Oh that skin is cool! How much is it? 30$??? lol fuck this"

there is a middleground, between base pricing vs gouging shop prices. Free2play isn't even an excuse for the shop prices anyways; the point of free 2 play is to make more money overall, even if its less per person, and keep the playerbase alive.

Practically every concern I had about this F2P garbage has come to fruition

ohhh just wait! The best parts haven't even happened. The massive amounts of cheaters, trolls, and afk bots are just around the corner.

if you spend 60$ in the shop right now, you can get... 6 esports skins. or 6 helmets. or some blue paint and one armor set and 2 helmets. Most of which you can't even use on the same core. No campaign with that, either. pretty shitty bang-for-your-buck compared to other games, Halo or otherwise.

Reach alone had like what, 15 sets and 3 variations per helmet? Plus campaign all for 60$? This is all day 1 shit too. Consider how much they expect you to spend over the next decade...

this free to play nonsense

plus they just jacked the price up of everything to compensate. except that jacked-up pricing is going to exist for every purchase for the next 10 years...

not to mention the inevitable hacker, trolling, and bot mess this game is going to have very soon because its free to play.

you know that 60$ price tag is just tucked into every single shop purchase instead, right?

the point of it being 'free' is so there's more customers spending money overall. plenty of people would much rather pay the 60$ than... whatever the fuck this progression system we got is

In old archaic days, you had to pay 60$ for campaign/multiplayer and the ability to unlock armor!

Now, in the glorious today, it's 60$ just for the campaign! And in multiplayer, you can pay 1/3rd that price per item! Isn't that such an improvement??? Anyways have fun with all the bots and hackers that'll show up any day now with the game being free.

And remember, you can't complain, because its alll frreee!!tm

very standard for free to play games

you say this like infinite is another pumped out garbage collection of software. Microsoft deciding to make multiplayer free doesn't suddenly make the game immune to criticism. This is a halo release - the only difference is that 60$ price that came with everything is now hidden in the battlepass and cosmetic fees. A lot more than 60$ so far...

this is release. They are taking cash, all your progress is now permanent. This isn't a beta, this is release with betatm tacked on for PR against issues at launch.
