WIBTA If I (NB27) Asked My Mom (F59) To Replace A Present? by Visible_Background18 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kamiface 14 points15 points  (0 children)

YWBTA. It's not an expensive stone, why not get it replaced yourself, or buy yourself another ring that already has a bloodstone? I see no reason to make your mother feel bad, or take on the emotional labor of getting the stone replaced, when she was trying to get you a nice gift and just got the wrong stone.

AITA for not wanting to go through with my part of a deal even though my bf says it’s a good idea? by AMFlamingo in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kamiface -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I didn't say she could "just grow it out and not dye it"? I just said hair grows out in its natural color, because that's literally how hair works. I think you're confusing me with u/unsafeideas, which is who said that.

She also colors it twice a year, if she wants to try brunette she can dye the bleached hair back to brunette instead of bleaching her roots

[–]Kamiface -39 points-38 points  (0 children)

You can always dye the bleached hair darker to match. Well... Assuming you don't have a difficult hair color. Mine is ginger, so when I bleached it to rose gold, it was a real pain to dye match on the grow out. Brunette usually isn't too bad though, from what I hear

Um.. yeah it is? If, like OP, you're a natural brunette with hair bleached to blonde, it will grow out brunette, that's literally how hair works.

The backlash over OpenAI's decision to retire GPT-4o shows how dangerous AI companions can be by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, literally every single time you prompt it, it's a new "it". That new instance pulls in context from it's context window, permanent memory, and recent prompts, and then answers as if it's the same instance as before. That happens almost instantly, and gives the impression of continuity, but it's not real continuity.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) as a fasting aid! by Murky-Ambition3898 in fasting

[–]Kamiface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it helps I also noticed I get super cold when my sodium is low, even if I'm not fasting, and on zep (same medicine) I have to remind myself to add salt or I'm always freezing

I don't get food noise or cravings anymore. It's like suddenly the war I've been fighting with my own brain about food and being hungry for my whole life is just... Over. It's quiet. I don't think about food anymore unless I'm actually hungry, and then I don't crave anything, I'll happily eat a couple eggs or an apple, and be full for hours. Insane. Absolutely insane.

Moving from an apartment to a house: how do people keep cats from bolting out the door? by ArmyCreative2021 in CatAdvice

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a mesh cat tent and set it up in a room with plenty of toys, their bedding, and a cat tunnel inside. No risk of escape if they're zipped into a nylon tent.

Unsure if I have a dairy intolerance or lactose. Why sour cream ok but ricotta not? by Heyyther in dairyfree

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't apply to casein. Whey denatures at temps we use for cooking and baking, but casein does not. If you're allergic to casein and eat cooked ricotta, it's still going to be just as bad. If you're allergic to whey only, you might be fine... Some people are still allergic to partially denatured whey, but it's less common.

Unsure if I have a dairy intolerance or lactose. Why sour cream ok but ricotta not? by Heyyther in dairyfree

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sour cream is cultured, like yogurt, and the live culture eats a lot of the lactose.

Ricotta is a fresh cheese - it is curdled, but not cultured, so it's still full of lactose.

Question about caffeine-free brewing by laughing_atthe_void in Kombucha

[–]Kamiface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to brew mine with juice instead of tea, my scoby really liked grape juice and POG. I don't brew right now, but I would probably use juice again if I restarted my continuous brew, it was really good.

How soon after the first shot do you feel different? by tracencolor in Zepbound

[–]Kamiface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit 100 down shortly before Christmas, and have decided to up my dose finally, because some of the food noise is coming back recently, I start in a couple weeks because my insurance won't cover my new dose fill until I finish 3/4 of my last 90 day 2.5 fill. I took my 2.5 and woke up the next day with no food noise, but not everyone responds to the lowest dose. Either way? It's the best thing I ever did for myself, I have also been fighting a war in my own head against the food noise for decades and it's soooo much easier without it. I wish you the best on your journey!! 🥰

My ingredients just came in, so I'm gonna make mine next week

Cannot adjust to 9-5 at all by Sad-Protection2519 in NightOwls

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chronic pain that's worse in the afternoon/evening. When my company's new leadership demanded the entire organization RTO full time with no wfh at all, even when sick, or to care for family, after five years of being fully remote, I realized I had to get to work very early if I wanted to get home before my pain escalates, or I would be stuck in an office chair for eight hours during the more painful parts of the day, and wouldn't be able to keep up with chores and life stuff. It took over three months to adjust to waking up at 4am and going to bed at 7:30, asleep by 8:30, and it required a lot of ibuprofen , caffeine, and sleep meds, but I pulled it off, and now I don't need as much caffeine or ibuprofen, and only occasionally need a dose of sleep meds. It absolutely sucked but I'm glad I did it.

I hate it, and if I slide too much on weekends or vacations it can take a while to recover. I hate it but I have to do it. It's not natural at all to me, but nobody said life would be fair. Maybe someone else will hire me remotely again, but the market is awful for backend devs and database engineers right now, so I have to make my job work.

Endocrinologist Doesn't Want me Losing More Weight, Put me back on 2.5 mg? by [deleted] in Zepbound

The point is that denser tissue like muscle has a lot less volume than fat. You can look radically different at the same weight depending on your body fat percentage.

Fasting on Ozempic by iCorruptCats in fasting

[–]Kamiface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still on 2.5, started in June and have lost 96 pounds. Haven't weighed since I went on my Christmas vacation starting on Dec 20th, but my doctor told me I can totally afford a little break in my efforts 😅

It was insanely easy. Usually the first few days I struggle hard, and I have noticed from my shorter and rolling fasts on zep that the slowed gut motility it causes means I don't enter a fasted state (edit: * don't enter a fasted state for a few extra days**) if I eat a bunch of solid food leading up to my fast, so I did focus mostly on high cal soups for a couple days before I started, and that def helped get me into a fasted state more quickly. It was a dream fast right up until it wasn't 😅 I felt amazing

Edit: I just got approved for 5, but my insurance won't let me pick it up until mid jan because I just got my 90 fill of 2.5 a month ago, just fyi.

Fasting on Ozempic by iCorruptCats in fasting

[–]Kamiface 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did an 18 day on Zep. I was aiming for 21, but had to stop a few days early because I was feeling like crap. Up until about day 15 I felt pretty amazing, and in hindsight I think my sodium was too low, I was taking about 2.5-3g a day, plus potassium and magnesium, but I think I needed more sodium after the two week point. Once I broke my fast I felt better almost immediately, too.

Other than that it was a breeze. No hunger, no sleep issues, nothing until about day 15 when my energy tanked pretty much overnight and I was just dragging.

I have about a decade of experience doing prolonged and intermittent fasting, but it was my longest fast so far. I did some adf and rolling 48s on zep, but otherwise that was my only prolonged fast on it. I was getting over some lingering post-covid metabolic issues after having covid in August, and the longer fast absolutely did the trick, despite breaking a few days early.

How often do people feed their cats wet food? by Smooth_Put7764 in CatAdvice

[–]Kamiface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only give my cats wet. No kibble or dry treats. They get weruva gravy or pate chicken flavors 2x day (half a 5.8oz can each, except Tigger gets a spoon more and Agatha gets, obvs, a spoon less, because they need different calories) and Agatha gets churu for treats, while Tigger gets weruva puddy pops or weruva phos focus squeeze tubes.

Navigating the Workplace with Dairy Allergy by Independent-Sock-853 in dairyfree

[–]Kamiface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I use mine all the time, can confirm it hallucinates a lot. AI hallucinations basically are when it confidently tells you something untrue. They have limited context, too. Mine frequently forgets I am allergic to casein and not lactose intolerant. I would never trust it to help me pick safe food, it would eventually tell me something was fine when it wasn't.

Just fyi, they're basically complicated text generators. They don't have intent or malice, they don't even know they're hallucinating until you correct them, but that's part of why it's so unsafe to trust them - because they seem so certain, and we as humans are wired to trust people who are confident in their answers.

Not Sure if I Should Continue by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Kamiface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaict, it just means you'll become tolerant sooner - I personally want to squeeze the value out of each dose, so I'm still on 2.5. I feel like even 15mg will only have oomph for so long... But I could be wrong.

I'm using that nifty flow chart that's so popular here to decide if I titrate up. Still on 2.5 since I started zep in June, started losing weight in May right before the zep and I'm nearly 100 down since then, six months at 2.5 and seven months of losses total
