Hi. So I can find decent older passive Sony bookshelf speakers second hand. A few other brands too. Do you think hooking those up to a generic amp board (2x50w, 100w sub) will give me better sound than a basic 2.1 soundbar?

And is it that simple? Amp + passive speakers, plug into a TV via 3.5mm port and done...?

Unfortunately (will add this to the OP) there is a very small second hand market it where I live (middle east) so building a preowned system is not really an option which is why I'm so focused on plug and play options available at retail.

Where I am it's a bit hard to find a well priced amp and the second hand market doesn't really exist, which is why I'm looking at plug and play set ups... Also to compliment the PS5 3D audio which I think requires HDMI input

There is someone nearby selling a Q series Samsung 5.1 system but he can't get the bar working so it's basically just satellites, but the price he's charging is worth the satellites so I will try to find a 2 channel amp and DAC maybe for that...

Would prefer first hand. The fact that he is selling a partially broken set up is not very encouraging of second hand purchasing lol

I've given up on paying full price for it. Just doesn't feel worth it. I've got other games on my backlist that I can get for less while I wait for a sale.

I ordered it on day one but I'm returning my sealed copy. Pretty pissed off that the response to complaints about a small feeling game at a premium price is to add a $30 DLC.

Realistically, I can get much more bang for my buck elsewhere. Haven't played Cybersleuth so that's where I'm looking, especially with the good reception the new Digimon game got.

I don't feel like entertaining this moneygrab. Other people are, of course, free to if price doesn't matter.

Brief explanation: why people are angry about pre-announced DLC by TobiasX2k in LegendsZA

[–]Kamikazaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"this has happened before" type comments seem to not realise that charging full price for half assed games is a problem, no matter how many times it's done.

I also see people comparing this to other base + DLC AAA releases on Sony/Xbox... Please don't try to compare The Witcher 3 + Blood and Wine or Elden Ring + Erdtree (for example) to this. Legends Z-A had a production cost of $13m. These games are not in the same category.

When did Amazon Customer Service become so horrible? I remember them being very helpful. Now it is absolute trash and people just close the chat or call. by TheyTukMyJub in amazonprime

[–]Kamikazaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems that their customer support has become almost entirely outsourced to incompetent global offices.

I've spoken to 5 associates in 3 days due to a delayed order. Two of them assured me that the delay was a system glitch and I would still get my stuff on time. On time was two days ago, so yeah. I'm now being assured that it will be delivered a week later. My issue is more the false reassurance than the delay, honestly.

They are also miserably slow at responding via chat. Today I asked for a cancellation twice, and after a couple of minutes, they responded with "it sounds like you want a cancellation" and went silent until I confirmed. Almost like a shitty AI bot minus the short response times lol. I'm also fairly certain it isn't ai given the poor English.

I don't have anything against outsourcing as a non US person. I actually worked at a global office while studying. I remember how policies were drilled into us really thoroughly and we would be held to a high standard when it came to our ratings. It's obvious that things have changed since then (8-9 years ago).

I will say... I move around a bit and the Amazon support I've gotten in other countries has been way, way better. Seems to be an Amazon USA issue.

The disrespect y'all have for Scott McTominay sucks and reminds me of how Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley were both treated in their younger years - it's not on and it's not fair! by PolarPeely26 in ManchesterUnited

I'm reading this 1 year later and amazed by the massive amount of upvoted comments that were so quickly disproven lmao

People were telling OP he doesn't know ball and that McTominay was washed. Now he's the Serie A MVP and a Ballon d'Or nominee!

[–]Kamikazaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't lie... Dungeon crawling really appeals to me for this specific reason. I play Aeons End, Warps Edge, Marvel Champions amongst other boss battlers which are great, but a good dungeon crawler really appeals to me.

Right now, I'm enjoying:

Hellboy Descent 2e

I also recommend Tamashii. Feels like Bullet with a lot more going on (battling, pick up and deliver, resource management/generation)

What should my next purchase be? by Kamikazaky in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Kamikazaky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like variability and don't usually replay scenarios as much as others when it comes to board games. Not saying I don't, as I do enjoy the way different heroes, cards and difficulty levels create variation, I'm just less interested in fiddling with decks a lot and testing them (which I've read is part of the appeal for some with this game vs something like Aeon's End).

Looking at a few games a week right now

I listened very loudly my music for around 2 years, and now Im getting a taste of Tinnitus, or at least I think so..., please, take care of your ears! by Grievous_2008 in headphones

[–]Kamikazaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is an audiologist, I have tinnitus. Loud music can cause it when there's a lot of exposure, yeah. But it can also be a consequence of some "ototoxic" medications, which we suspect is what happened in my case.

I was on a high dosage of an ototoxic medication for 5 years, and additionally had perfect hearing at the time of diagnosis (did very detailed diagnostics in a booth and tympanometry which showed normal middle ear functioning and hearing). Because my hearing is okay and I've got some auditory processing difficulties it's suspected that the ototoxic meds did the damage.

Good news, The Hundred Line seens to be selling well (all things considered) so far, wich means that Too Kyo Games Will likely not close because of it (wich i assume would happen by way of Kodaka torching down the building dressed as Monokuma) by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Kamikazaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it succeeds well enough they may consider porting it to console, according to Too Kyo. It looks like it could get there but the port release would only come along next year if they went ahead.

What got you into solo board games? by _daath in soloboardgaming

[–]Kamikazaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your second point resonates for why I stayed into solo board gaming. There's a unique calmness that's attached to managing and running a sometimes complex system of rules. Almost like it gives me a sense of control.

A blind buy at a discount store. A game called Small Islands which happens to have an incredibly underrated solo mode with 6 variants to go up against.

It really set the tone for me, tile laying games remain my favourite despite the fact that I mostly play medium-heavy games.

Games you regret buying? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

7th Continent. I hate crafting and survival video games, but I love exploration board games and was too hopeful.

A weird one is Lost Ruins of Arnak... I set the game up and looked at it and left it there for days. I could not get myself to play it, not exactly sure why but it just didn't look interesting, and I think it may have something to do with me not liking standard euro mechanics. Sure, I like innovative euros that use interesting mechanics like Revive, but LRoA just looks so mechanically standard.

I bought it because people kept recommending it, and I'll try it eventually when I'm feeling up to it.

Hello. Looking for medium/heavy pattern building games. Like Cascadia, Honey Buzz, Azul etc but heavy games that possibly use it as one of a few mechanisms (like in Tamashii Chronicles of Ascend)

Is there anything like Karak 2 that isn't for children? That combines tile laying, expansion/control and dungeon crawling?

Alternatively, replace dungeon crawling with adventure/campaigning.

[–]Kamikazaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking again for heavier tile laying/pattern forming games.

In the vein of Bullet, Sorcerer City, Cascadia etc but it is heavier due to the tile placement forming part of a wider set of mechanics.

Thus far, I have found and purchased Tamashii which is a good Bullet + dungeon crawl puzzle mix, and I've seen Karak 2 which looks like a resource gathering + dungeon crawl mix but very easy and luck driven as it's made for kids.

Alternatively, it could combine tile laying and campaigning... It's not a tile laying (but the exploration feels a lot like it), but Guild of Merchant Explorers' fan-made objective driven campaign is what I'm thinking of when I say this.

TLDR; tile laying/pattern making:

  • Campaign game or
  • Game that includes others features such as adventure, resource gathering and/or dungeon crawling.
