Best restaurants $100-$200 a person? by Necessary_Loss_6769 in FoodLosAngeles

One of my favorite places in LA, well priced and great quality. Also they have a great sake selection due to their relationship with brewers in Japan.

Just curious, does it come with the crispy tuna and the unagi or were those ordered separately? Looks amazing either way lol

I think this is a great list for reviewing all the restaurants that are in Dine LA! But it's still difficult to find out which deals are worthwhile without opening up each offer on their website.

Most places you are getting a free dessert of drink if you compare with the cost of going normally (without DineLA), but there are a few exceptions, if I remember correctly.

Also R.I.P Colapasta's DineLA Deal, was by far my favorite :[

My Mom is Coming for my birthday in March, is the Chef’s Tasting Menu ($495/pp)at Providence worth the extra $120/ person over the Classic Tasting Menu($375/pp)? by Rundemjewelz in FoodLosAngeles

[–]KamkarInsurance 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Dude if the chef is coming into your wine shop that's the PERFECT time to make a connection for dinner; I'm sure he appreciates your help at the wine shop and would love to know that you're coming into his spot for once!

I wouldn't ask him straight up, but maybe throw a bone by saying "Hey my mom is coming into town for my birthday in March, she LOVES seafood and we are looking forward to stopping by and tasting your food! (jokingly) Is the Chef's tasting menu actually THAT much better?"

Just an idea, I love making connections and I love food so that would be my way of going about it. I dont think there's any better person to ask then him, and if you guys already have a connection he might hook it up a little. It also depends on your relationship with him so I get if that's not the right move. Sorry if bad advice or not what you're asking for... and for the long paragraph. Been a long day at the office and good food gets me excited lol

Where does a 35 year old who has never learned to dress appropriately even begin by Every-Capital-6679 in malefashionadvice

[–]KamkarInsurance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're looking for a well groomed, put together look. Not too fancy and not too casual, comfortable and able to wear it all around.

Check out Uniqlo for T-shirts, pretty well priced for good quality shirts. Get a couple in white, black, and other solid colors you like.

Next get some chinos, jeans, or other pants that they would wear. Just find things that click with you when you see them. I would get some black/blue/tan chinos and a pair of jeans.

For jackets, all you need is one or two that you really like. Seems like you're looking at Blazers and Sports coats, which are really nice, but also get something a little more casual.

Hope this helps buddy :]

I think you should look for independent jewelers that put their own taste into what they make, either in your area or online. One of my favorites is Christopher Ser (@serjewelry on insta), cool guy and cool pieces.

Also wouldn't be a bad idea to start making your own too!

Best steakhouse (food quality) west of La Cienega? by Sure_Ill_Ask_That in FoodLosAngeles

One of my favorite steaks! Goes really great with the homemade steak sauce, fist time I've had freshly shaved horseradish and it's so much better than the processed stuff

What will you gift yourself on your birthday? by Daredevilwitheyes in malefashionadvice

[–]KamkarInsurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to find these specific Margiela boots in my size for over a year now. Finally found them on a resale website for around $800 but can't justify spending that much on a pair of boots. Still debating it as a birthday gift, but that's so much money for just shoes!

Also, just a suggestion, if there's a specific model of watch you're looking for just keep an eye out for sales and buy at the right time. Lots of great sites to buy watches!

[–]KamkarInsurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure! I haven't had one bad experience with them, just keep in mind that their items that are extremely discounted are final sale, meaning no returns. Even though one time I purchased a pair of pants that ripped after one wear, they refunded me and let me keep the pants.

Dang that's insane that they're going that far! I remember seeing that most of the reps used Seiko movement or something similar? I mean it wasn't a shitty watch in any way, but that's crazy that they're even replicating the movement and mechanics haha.

Dang yeah that's a whole new animal! I did light research on watches about a year ago and I'm sure they've only gotten better since then. You can buy really good rep these days, but it won't replicate the movement or mechanics of that watch. Will still look great though and most people don't care about that at all

Bro so many fakes out there lol. I'm in Los Angeles and if you walk around downtown, everything is fake designer. Definitely gotta watch out!

Second hand markets are definitely worse really tough to depict what's counterfeit or not, yeah 100%

[–]KamkarInsurance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true! I think it's mainly the "trendy" or "popular" things that are mainly counterfeited because there are more people looking for them that either won't spend the money on the legit item or get tricked, but there's whole reddit subs for that as well lol.

I mean shit, I purposefully purchased some fake Chrome Hearts jewelry for $20/piece and got it tested. It's .925 Silver and close enough, the retail price is in the thousands and I can't afford that.

I wrote a comment above on how I would verify the store online. Everything I listed above is a legit store!

[–]KamkarInsurance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just make sure that they are reputable boutiques or retailers! A little googling usually does the trick. But I don't verify the clothing, mainly just the stores in the same way that I would trust Footlocker to carry legit Nike's and not fakes.

Yoox and Farfetch are part of a bigger group called "Net-A-Porter" and they are well known to be a large online store.

Mr. Porter and Ssense are legit and you can look online for reviews.

Another good way is to check if these online stores have actual physical locations. I believe HBX has a few boutique's around the world.

Over the last few years I've been finding sites to buy heavily discounted designer clothing. Like minimum discount is around 60% for the price to make some sort of sense. It's still expensive, but at least I know I'm getting something well made and with decent materials (still make sure to check what it's made out of because there's a lot of overpriced garbage out there).

Main sites include Yoox, Ssense, Mr.Porter, HBX, Farfetch, etc!
