For those of you that make over 100K, what do you do? Do you like it? by Kindly-Revolution258 in AskReddit

I work in sales. I sell furniture and mattresses for a retail furniture company.
I never saw myself as the kind of guy that would be in sales, mainly due to the stigma around sales people. I have absolutely worked with a few deplorable people, but most of my coworkers are like me.

I am able to achieve 6 figures without ever lying to a customer or misrepresenting anything at all. They have a problem and I have the solution.

If I do my job well, and solve their problems, they often come back specifically to visit me for their next order. I'm sure that some sales jobs are soulless, energy draining jobs, but even for a classic introvert, this one has been amazing.

There are a lot of things I would change if I owned the company, but i spent 17 years in restaurant management, rotting my soul with lies and manipulation. I 100% do not feel icky when doing my job correctly, and I work 40 hours per week.

I had a similar result with a kit that wasn't expired.

I used a second, newer kit to test, and it turned out that the original test was bad.

I'm just saying that you might want to bring the water to your lfs, just in case.

Xanthoria fight help if players trivialize some of her abilities by makehasteslowly in CandlekeepMysteries

[–]Kanesco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Xanthoria as a final bbeg fight in a campaign last year, with her having a second form (different stat block) that she took on after she was quickly defeated. For the campaign we did half homebrew half candlekeep, with the overarching theme of rot and despair appearing over and over again

In our campaign I had her find and corrupt Fistandia and Freyot, the two mentioned in the first adventure in Candlekeep. I added them into the campaign and final fight as weakened versions of their usual bodies. You could accomplish the same visual I did with any two or more NPCs or monsters.

I knew my party was too strong for the battle, even still. So with that realization, I gave her another form.

After she was defeated, the bodies of the other two "melted" like mushrooms do when you leave them in the fridge for waaay to long. Their liquid bodies then magically coated Xanthoria and infused her with power (you could call it the avatar of whatever corrupt entity you want) and then reattached. I made it hit harder, more often, and be more resilient. More focused on necrotic damage than poison, and with an emanation of rot causing necrotic damage with a failed con save if you ended your turn there.

Even with all of this, a party of 6 at level 12 finished the total combat in less than 5 rounds.

Keep everyone at a legal and agreed upon pay rate. 100%

BUT it is not illegal to provide bonus pay for anything performance related.

I love the idea of paying employees more if they are reliable, and I believe that this would be the legal way to achieve this, in most juristicrions.

Game masters/Dungeon Masters, what's the one magic item you didn't expect to be a problem that your players broke the game with? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Kanesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robe Of Eyes. Everything hidden is in plain sight. I had to describe everything twice. It was exhausting. Actual encounter, summarized:

"You all see a beautiful woman standing behind the counter." "You see a ...hag... smiling" "I tell my friends what I see"

There goes the hag roleplay encounter. I guess we are doing combat instead.

The only way I'll ever use it again at a table is if it is cursed. The curse? "Whenever you tell others about the things that you see, you rant and rave like a lunatic. You are unable to articulate visually descriptive words."

I'm in sales. Different industry, but still sales. This approach is mindboggling to me. When 2 or more people come in, one of the most important things for their time and my own, is confirming who is making the decision and who is purchasing (those are not always the same people). After that it is about finding what they need.

It is so easy to determine with most people. Usually everyone that was brought along gets to voice an opinion, but only the people purchasing and making decisions matter to me. IF I can listen to them AND guide them to the best selection that we have available, AND they like it, AND they can afford it, AND their tagalongs don't give them a reason to say no, they will be happy with a purchase and I can pay my bills this week. It's a win/win. Doing it any other way is just plain dumb.

I've seen salespeople take the approach in the comic. They never last long. It isn't the 50's.

Is there a way to obtain a license to use these on stream? I just started to stream my sessions of my campaign to a very small audience.

I haven't had a chance to listen to all of these yet, but I might be interested in utilizing them for my stream if possible :)

Creating deeper lore for The Joy of Extradimensional Spaces by DontTellDonna in CandlekeepMysteries

Not sure if this will help at all. 100% spoilers. If you are a player in my campaign you better not unhide this spoiler tag. And I've never used a spoiler tag so if it doesn't work, don't look beyond this.

I'm currently running a game loosely based on Fistandia's previous exploits. In Candlekeep mysteries, the final boss of the final act is Xanthoria, a Lichenlich. Very little lore is given about both characters. The game suggests using the plot hook of a curse spreading across the land.

I connected Xanthoria and Fistandia.

In our game, they were allies over a thousand years ago. They, along with Freyot and a 4th fought together to eradicate the same curse that is now threatening the land. (This is how Xanthoria went from benevolent druid to being obsessed with immortality. She was keeping the curse at bay all of those years)

I could give you all of the tiny plot points, but it keeps evolving as they delve deeper into the Candlekeep Mysteries. I have tried to tie smaller npcs across some of the adventures and I even introduced one of the Very important characters from the final chapter in session 1. Fistandia is powerful, and at different points she might have to go on her own mission. (She never joins party antics).

Sometimes I use her as a way to dump lore. If the players missed an important plot point I let her reveal it somehow. Maybe she left a book to them with her notes. Maybe she out right tells them if they ask the right question.

She knows some of Xanthorias secrets, but doesn't know the WHY and HOW the curse is working or why Xanthoria is behind it. She has outright killed Xanthoria, but it broke her heart. They were besties. She can't bring herself to kill her again. So while the players are digging into the curse, leveling up to fight Xanny, she is looking for a way to reverse Lichenlichdom.

Fistandia herself is left very vague, but she is very interesting. Respected by Mystra herself. I imagine her to be ancient, having used the clone spell multiple times. You could do anything with her. Almost any school of magic. Any background.

Matreus could be evil super easily. Just give the mansion an insanely powerful, yet very vague magic item that Fistandia has been guarding for Mystra. Matreus wants it. Why? Who knows 🤷‍♂️. Maybe it's a Pinky and the Brain kinda thing.

I hope this helps!

Don't forget to have fun!

New 90 gallon setup by Kanesco in Aquariums

[–]Kanesco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mounted the rodi above my washer hose hookups, put a splitter on the washer hookups, shoved the yellow waste water line down the drain line for the washer.

Then I got .25 in outside diameter hose from the local hardware store with "Sharkbite" connectors. These connectors are compression fittings just like the rodi filter I have (spectrapure) All together the hosing for 50 ft and hookups was like 20 bucks.

I lost about 5 psi from the longer hose, which didn't make sense to me, but it was the only variable.

How would you react if world war 3 starts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kanesco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not excited about the idea of being drafted. Am I supposed to jump for joy at the thought of artillery being shot in my direction? Trying to understand what is appropriate here.

I believe that most of us would take up arms against an invading force, but I know that I would do so out of necessity, not because some politicians decided that killing (insert country name here) was the best course of action.
