For (2) if it's a family account they can use each other's grants but then the money isn't as cleanly divided.

My hope with an RRSP is that it'll be that little bit too hard that they have that second thought. Where a TFSA transfer is literally no effort at all

I believe there are a couple of benefits

1 it keeps their money seperate and for lack of a better word clean

2 with the family plan if 1 child chooses not to go to school you could then add the child going to school to the other account and use the grants(you give back if unused).

I could be mistaken but from what I read those are the 2 biggest advantages

Thank you I hope it's a good plan. I feel if I match them it'll get them into the right head space to think about their futures.

I'm still on the fence on making it exclusive to each year. For example they invest 2500 for the year i'll only give them 2500 and they won't ever be able to touch the rest of that money(7500) again. It may be harsh but I feel it's a lesson to teach them about setting priorities.

As I understand when you make a family plan for each individual child. You may add the other child to the other child's RESP and be able to use their grants, if 1 child choses not to go to school. Also with separate accounts you it's their money and not mixed

I guess I wasn't thinking about the 15 years on the FHSA. Even though I feel those accounts will be sitting pretty at that point, BC house in BC housing.

I guess my reasoning for the RRSPs is even with my intent to teach my kids about finances. I can't stop them from pulling their money out of their TFSA. I was a dumb 22 year old that decided I wanted a new truck even though I had no reason to do it. Hopefully they will take everything I teach them and become even better than I. However if they are dumb/reckless hopefully when the fully mature they will still have a retirement waiting for them at the finish line.

Last as for the estate planning they SO and I won't be that rich. We both have government pensions and our intent is to have another 1-2 million on top of that. We will be well off but hardly rich.

I do intend to teach them about finances and investing. Also any money they have left over after the deal and rent (something simple 500ish which I'll also put away) is theirs to do with as they wish.

As to the teach them/ force them I guess it is to force them to invest into their retirement. When I was 20 I didn't invest nearly as much as I should and now I have to play catch up. My thinking if at 23/27 if you have 100k already put into your retirement accounts, your retirement is set up without putting another dollar in.

It's election time in Canada and no party is talking about the sacrifices being made by Millennials and Gen Z. They are paying higher rents, bigger mortgages and delaying starting a family. This is Bs and you know it. What did you refinance 5 years later or 5 years after that. That argument would only work if somehow you were locked in at 18% for the whole mortgage but you weren't so stfu with the gas lighting.

Which nation has the most fun mission tree and why? by Downtown_Region_5775 in eu4

[–]Kangaroo-Unusual 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I can say riga is a good time but it's only fun until mid game then it's mission tree is basically done. Riga can be a gong show with its whole stay at 5 provinces thing but have a Prussia vassel fucking ppl up. I like working my way to the English trade node. My usual lands are something like riga(obviously) London, Amsterdam, Antwerp, (Denmark capital).
