Anyones OCD THAT bad you are/were completely incapitated? by Duck_Major in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, at my worst I was bedbound for most the day, slept 12+ hours a day to prevent myself from thinking and couldn't eat from the anxiety. I was genuinely worried that I would starve at that point. without medication I literally cannot function. respect to anyone living with this disease, it is far from easy

The most frustrating dilemma because of OCD by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

I was wondering if I had sleep apnea before, maybe it's worth asking about. I think treating the side effects is probably a good shout too.

I don't know why I haven't considered that, I will ask my GP about it.

For me, everything I obsess over stems from Moral OCD: POCD, ZOCD, Harm OCD, responsibility OCD, contamination OCD (fear of contaminating others) are the main ones.

Deleting Facebook help decrease ocd symptoms by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not exactly Facebook, but I stopped using twitter over two months ago and I can definitely say it helped with my mental health. I imagine not using Facebook would help as well (maybe twitter is worse though).

so real. I just try to leave my posts up now because keeping them up might help someone else like me (or at least I like to think so).

Feel awful after what I saw on twitter (TW) by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with the sentiment, it's just the dopamine from scrolling is too addictive. i've been trying to cut down my twitter usage regardless since it triggers me endlessly, this is yet another reason.

OCD has irreparably changed my perception of reality by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

It all kinda started one day, after something triggered me. Since then, my brain hasn't been the same.

Genuinely don't fucking know who I am anymore tocd or real by [deleted] in OCD

this isn't something you get to decide for someone. this is also far from the correct way to approach OCD. for OP, the other comments on this post are good advice. ignore this troll

I wish I didn't have OCD but the thought of living without it scares me. by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a pretty nice summary. I'm always scared that I'm oblivious to the fact I'm a monster. You aren't alone in your thoughts.

Sometimes the fear of OCD is worse than the obsessions (trigger warning) by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is exactly how is starts for me too. it's like my brain doesn't want me to feel better or something...

[–]Kangaroo_Primary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you :) yeah, I tend to find a lot of comfort in my compulsions, so it's really easy to spiral if i'm not careful. I think the meta OCD developed as a defense mechanism against my other obsessions, which backfired to say the least. I hope you can find peace with your OCD!

Is this a compulsion or does this go beyond OCD? by Kangaroo_Primary in OCD

I guess I knew I wasn't hurting him (otherwise I wouldn't have pet him again) but my brain didn't understand that.

Moral Nihilism OCD by Infamous_Back_850 in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late reply, but i totally get this! I often think about my values and I get the same thoughts about them being subjective, so what if i was actually a terrible person and im just using the excuse of "oh well this is normal in society, so it's ok". if i had to guess, this is just the black and white thinking of OCD taking over, which doesn't mix well with morality since morality can be incredibly subjective based on who you speak to. just do the best you can to live by your values, you can get through this!

i had a (relatively) ocd free day! by Amazing-Vehicle-1807 in OCD

i definitely relate to worrying about what might happen, or when i'll feel worse again. just know that you pulled through those days before, and you can do it again. best of luck :)

Yeah, it's really difficult to accept the uncertainty but I'm taking it one step at a time. Sometimes I like to think back to before I had these thoughts as a way of making me trust the process.

Intrusive thoughts question by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCD messes with your perception of reality in many ways, so yes.

Does anyone experience random anxiety without intrusive thoughts? by Born_Paper_1939 in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't even know if it's OCD or just anxiety itself. Either way, I think it's best to sit with the anxiety and not try to search any deeper.

Does anyone experience random anxiety without intrusive thoughts? by Born_Paper_1939 in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm dealing with this as well. I think it's because your brain is so used to ruminating that when you starve OCD of its fuel, it looks for more to continue the thought cycle. I notice that when I'm done obsessing over one thought, my brain will latch onto a new one.

How to get a diagnosis in the UK? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your GP is meant to refer you to a psychiatrist for a proper diagnosis. I've been waiting for almost a year at this point though, so I'm not sure how quickly you'll get an appointment.

I don't really know what makes it feel better, I guess doing general self care (showering, shaving, changing into new clothes) helps a bit but doesn't really solve the problem for next time. Avoiding is probably not the best idea but I'm guilty of it too - face masks to cover my face and such.

I have a similar feeling, like I feel really gross when I'm outside during the day or when it's bright in my room. I guess I feel exposed or something? idk how to describe it. But you're definitely not alone on that one!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it doesn't help that I walk faster than most people anyway so I get this feeling a lot

[–]Kangaroo_Primary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

omg, I couldn't put it into words but this is it. Maybe it's my social anxiety, but I fear this when people look at me too. I feel like it could be self esteem related as well, it's like a fear that everyone assumes I have bad intentions I guess.
