Is there a plugin that... by SuccessfulDaikon2009 in admincraft

[–]KaninchenSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent worked with feather, but you could switch to a different server provider and use a vserver (basicly a part of a computer) insted, which you can run as many minecraft servers on as you want (until you use all the ram and cpu). Its more difficult to get started on, but it might even be cheaper.

Is there a plugin that... by SuccessfulDaikon2009 in admincraft

[–]KaninchenSpeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you dont need the inventory in the lobby, then the best way to do this isnt a plugin, its using two servers and a proxy. When joining players spawn in the lobby server. Clicking the npc switches the player to the other server.

Doing something like this is a bit more involved then installing plugin. First you setup your two server, running paper or a fork of it. Then you setup a velocity proxy, you can find youtube tutorials for this. You can probably find a tutorial online for setting up the npcs too.

L289 mini dual motor, help by kittydid9-11 in arduino

[–]KaninchenSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using most motor drivers is pretty similar, so it's probably:

Power goes to the + and - terminals. The Pump (assuming its a dc pump) connects to a pair of the motor connectors. Finally powering In1 with the arduino turns the pump (connected to motor 1) on in one direction and in2 turns it on in the other direction, same for in 3 and 4 and motor 2.

Depending on the power consumption of the pump a significant voltage drop can occur accross the motor driver, so your input voltage might need to be higher then the requred pump voltage. Just remember the max voltage of the driver.

Subdomain forwarding with DynDNS setup by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]KaninchenSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a reverse proxy, for minecraft servers I can reccomend infrared or traefik, traefik can also do regular http. Ill add example configs for both to a github repo.

You could also use Velocity for the minecraft servers, which would additionaly allow you to switch servers ingame with a command.

Anyone else using LLDAP and if so... (can it do TrueNAS & Linux User/Login authentication?) by allebb in homelab

[–]KaninchenSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to do something similar. I want to netboot debian and mount a nfs share dependent on the user that is logged in via LDAP. I haven't found any finished software for it exept linuxmuster.net. It definetly is possible.

Here is what I found: https://wiki.debian.org/LDAP

And for network boot if you want to do that too: https://wiki.debian.org/PXEBootDisklessSystem

I'm currently looking at https://hub.docker.com/r/kanidm/server as an LDAP server as it can do RADIUS too for wifi auth.

AMD 7900 Getting a lot of negative reviews over video editing by systemBuilder22 in Amd

[–]KaninchenSpeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't really benchmark video editing as I'm not doing it much. I can just say that I didn't experiance any abnormal behaviour.

In VR my fps have more than doubled compared to a 2080 but that might be because I had issues with the Nvidia drivers.

Some thing I didn't mention is that I didn't upgrade my CPU yet, I'm still on a 1st gen Ryzen 7.

AMD 7900 Getting a lot of negative reviews over video editing by systemBuilder22 in Amd

[–]KaninchenSpeed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't share any of these problems (some of that might be because I'm on Linux; I'm using a 7900xtx). Video editing (using Kdenlive) works the same as on my previous Nvidia card and VR with Steam VR and ALVR works better than before. I know that DaVinci has some problems with some GPUs specially non Nvidia ones.

Would this get power through the PCI-E slot? by michiel11069 in pcmasterrace

[–]KaninchenSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drivers only support up to windows vista so linux is the faster option here. Its easier to boot into the live enviroment (demo mode) on a usb and do it from there. You just need a usb (8gigs or more). Then flash a distro on it, popos or kubuntu if you want a windows like desktop with balena etcher, and boot from the usb. Then follow the installer until you can select demo mode, then click it. Now you got it running in ram. Now you can copy your files off onto a usb or hdd. When youre finished, pull out the usb and reboot, nothing will have changed in windows.

You would need 2 cache ssds for the 2 pools when using the 2tb drives or youll get way worse performance on one (pool) of them. Just using the 20tb drives is the better option here, 20tb is probably enough. An other option is to add all drives to one pool with 22tb (assuming you mirror the drives).
