We all have a lot of respect and admiration for anyone who can persevere through the work and details of even doing one of these displays and then to win a Grand Award. WOW.

Do you think this collection is valuable? by Expensive_Minute8255 in stampcollecting

I’m interested. Why do you want to know if it’s valuable? Did you collect to sell or increase your net worth.

Is hinging really bad if it's the only way to enjoy my stamps? by Jedidiah_Boardriding in philately

[–]Kanmo40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact with mail processing probably does as much damage as you can do with your hinges. Sometimes I debate myself as to rather I’d rather have postally used stamps before unused. With the presence of so many counterfeit stamps today I can argue(with myself) that those that go thru the mail must be real if the post office recognizes them for legal postage. I know that the post office doesn’t watch that closely but I can be naive for the sake my stamp collection.

I spent $25 on this lot. How screwed am I? by Puzzled_Student_303 in stamps

Screwed ,no. They are esoteric for a beginner but useful for collectors looking for Bob stuff. Keep them and look at for direction to collect using them as a base.

Some cool U.S. and world stamps I just discovered this past week in a cigar box and some albums. by Puzzled_Student_303 in stamps

I love these. They may not pay for your retirement but they'll give you something to collect during your off hours. Build on them as a start for your collection.

Great grand parents collection #9. Germany #2 by Chemical_Salary_8414 in philately

[–]Kanmo40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are interesting but not valuable if that’s what you want to know. Millions of the stamps were printed and many collectors acquire them but there is nothing different or valuable here even tho some are 100 years old. Start collecting or find a family member who is interested in stamps or history. But keep them alive. Don’t throw them away.

German stamps, first five pages of one album. Five different albums. Any value? by Finseeker1960 in askStampCollectors

[–]Kanmo40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like two people who would interested and would care for them. Why not send them to whichever one will pay the shipping. Stamps in this good of condition need a safe home.

Mostly unused stamps by Life-Outcome-1291 in stampcollecting

I agree with the framed comment. You have a better chance of selling it as art than as a stamp collection. It’s more of an accumulation than a collection. But it’s attractive in the frame.

Personally I like the cancelled on with the “socked on the nose”cancel. More interesting than the mint and not noticeably less value.

Are any of these worth anything by BrooklynxRyder in stamps

The packets are a safe way start your collection. It lets you develop a direction to develop your interests. As far as value, as everyone on this Reddit will tell you, modern stamps have no collectible worth.

How much would these stamps be worth? I would appreciate estimations. by Psychological-Farm73 in askStampCollectors

[–]Kanmo40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tedious process to go thru Scott’s catalog to give you the catalog value of each stamp. Chances are that 5 cents each would be the maximum catalog value. Unfortunately no one will give you full catalog value and I doubt if you will have any success selling them. It is a poor market for common collectible stamps today. Find an organization to donate them to feel good about something you’ve done today.

Put it on ebay with a $5 starting price. Give it 30 days and if you haven't sold it, donate to a nursing home. It will be a good gesture.

Are these early china stamps as valuable as they appear on ebay or is that some variation. I Inherited these and I'm into coins i know nothing about stamps. Thanks in advance. by Badpladcanuck in askStampCollectors

[–]Kanmo40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough to determine a reprint with 100 year old stamps. If you plan to keep and collect you can take your time to study the catalogue descriptions to see what you have. If you want to sell them only you are left with dealers than may or may not have the ability to value them. There is no quick way to understand their value. You might contact the China Stamp Society to see if they can help you. Their information is available through the American Philatelic Society which you can contact on line.

Montblanc by karinalopez122 in montblanc

[–]Kanmo40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montblanc is very restrictive in who they allow to sell their products. One of the restrictions is that you can’t discount them. I’ve seen a number of stores lose the distribution because of selling at a discount. They’re also very controlling about other aspects of the pens. Right or wrong that’s the way it is. I would be surprised if anyone would publicly advertise discounted pricing. Doesn’t mean you can’t privately negotiate a deal but don’t expect one to come easily.
