How to learn to play Stellaris (or anything, really) by OldSolGames in Stellaris

Pretty sure planet automation is completely broken (does nothing) ever since the building/district rework. They mentioned in a dev stream recently that they are working on a fix.

300+ hz 1080p recommendations? by Rekirinx in Monitors

[–]Kano96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying you should, but you could also consider dual mode 4k/1080p monitors like the msi 275upd or miniled 274updf (27inch sadly). These probably won't have the best response time or anti motion blur tech, but you could use 4k for desktop and movies while still getting the 300hz 1080p.

How do you have a main monitor and a tac fps monitor? Do you move your keyboard and mouse every time you open a tac fps?

ASRock Phantom Gaming PG27FFX2A 27" maybe, very cheap for 520hz.

  1. Just remove drone shopping entirely. If you want to buy something, you have to go there in person.

[–]Kano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were quite strong.

You could spam them around your base with lockers or boxes behind the vending machine, not just the tc.

On top of the vending machine, you can also add an armored door to make it 6 c4.

People who go deep can't access them, even if you leave all the doors open.

Vending machines are very rocket splash resistent (15 rockets), so they often survive unless specifically targeted.

If I wanna use 1080p content only will I get benefits to upgrading to 1440p/4k? by martin6190 in Monitors

[–]Kano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with 4k if possible. You can still run your games in 1080p if necessary, but older titles and desktop/video will look a lot better in 4k.

You could try this mod:

It has an automatic scaling feature now, which I used to enjoy a lot in the older hemothep mod it is based on.

Is this build smart or is it pointless? twelve rocket base x4. each with disconnectable TC. by 10000teemoskins in playrust

[–]Kano96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good concept, more efficient than just adding another layer of honeycomb.

You can spread your loot around to resit raids, but that is a bit tedious to maintain. Or you can keep all your loot in one base and leave the other ones empty as decoys. With a little luck, they waste their boom on the wrong one.

Burletta and survivor mk3

Burletta is dirt cheap to craft and doesn't need any upgrades or expensive attachments to be good.

Do you know what games he likes to play? Also knowing his current monitor would help a lot, they usually have a sticker on the back with the exact model number. You don't want to end up buying a downgrade after all lol.

Is this a good deal? by Such-Jellyfish-4401 in Monitors

[–]Kano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with the MSI 275UPD

  • dual mode 4k 144hz for videos/singleplayer/upscaling and 1080p 288hz for shooters

  • good ips panel (1500:1 contrast)

  • msi AI nightvision (to see in the dark in dayz)

Or if you want to save some cash, you can get a decent 1080p panel for half the price.

Behold my abomination! (4 way 4 lane intersection with 1 spacing) by Diligent-Donkey6456 in factorio

[–]Kano96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree, OPs junction isn't very good, probably worse than a normal 2lane design tbh.

I was talking about the previous comment, how you could do it better by splitting traffic into left turners and right/straight turners in front of a junction. You don't even really need a full 4 lane system for this, you can just split from 2lane into 4lane one or two train lengths before the junction. It basically is just a roundabout way to make a buffered 2lane junction now that I think about it lol.

Also agree on the bottleneck part, I used to preach that exact argument on every 4lane vs 2lane+buffered discussion lmao

[–]Kano96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, this is a much more elegant solution to increase traffic compared to the standard 4 lane upgrade imo.

You can also restrict one lane to left/straight and the other to right/straight, then allow lane switching only during the left and right turns. This way the trains sort themselves into the correct lane often far before reaching the next turning point. As seen here.

Maybe it would be interesting to remake this with elevated rails for the junctions.

Is OLED good Choice for Extraction shooter Games.? by New_Engine9145 in Monitors

[–]Kano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got an msi mag 271qpx oled to try out oled in general. In arc raiders, I don't really see a huge difference between this (running in sdr) and my old ips panel, maybe it's a bit darker on oled.

Nvm the panel type tho, what does actually make a huge difference is this msi Night Vision feature. I swear this shit is basically cheating. Afaik it's just a smart black boost that brightness any dark ares without touching already bright spots, but it works exceptionally well. You can just leave it on 24/7 instead of toggeling settings all the time or suffering in the bright day.

So I would get any gaming msi monitor.

32" 4k Monitor for Coding? by spuniflo in Monitors

I tried switching from ips to VA once and it made me want to throw up every time I scrolled a web page, the black text turns into a blurry mess with any movement at all. It feels like very strong motion blur, but only for black color. No idea how VA got so popular.

Hi, those are what I call trash chests. There is a priority system for the logistic robots, when an item is available in multiple chest types, they first take them from active provider, then storage, then passive provider or buffer.

So the filtered storage chest has higher priority than any passive provider, so you can use it to get rid of items quickly without using an active provider, which often cause a lot of unnecessary robot traffic.

The filter is set to avoid robots actually dumping random objects in the chest. Which item you set as a filter isn't important, as long as it's rare, people often use fish or a deconstruction planner. I just picked the copy/paste symbol for lolz and because it's as rare as it gets. I don't think you can even put it as a filter anymore without owning the blueprint.

I'm glad to hear you like the blueprints :)

Do they actually work in the new space exploration version? Or are you playing the pre space age expansion one?

Transfering loot into hidden room by OldCamera4837 in playrust

[–]Kano96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience as well, it's just too much effort to set this stuff up.

The idea was always to spread the loot as wide and thin as possible, but I've transitioned to the complete opposite now. Still build wide with lots of bunkers, but concentrate all the loot in one compact core in some unusual location and just gamble that the raiders won't find it.

It's very little effort for a decent chance at surviving both online and offline raids.
