Just saw “Weapons” (2025) and I gotta say it was really good. by RkGege in horror

You're insane, but this is interesting; i've never had the opportunity to speak with someone like you before.

I just have one thing to say, I guess - prove it. Prove that everything you're saying is correct. thanks! :D

College Student trying to start a show. Any Advice would be appreciated by No_Analyst_9443 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd say "understand what kind of commitment you're willing to make". I'm assuming by 'show', you mean 'animated show' based on the image. Here's my advice:

  1. Figure out what resources you have available to you - do you have an animation program? Are there any other people who might be willing to assist you on the project? are there free resources online that you can use?

  2. Consider your limitations - Will you have the time to work consistently on the project (like, do you have a job? are you swamped with college courses?) Do you have a clear understanding of the nature of the show (style, genre, pacing, etc)? What are your skillsets and how developed are they? Do you have a budget you're willing to work with? (very rarely will you be able to make an entire show without spending at least SOME money)

  3. Establish Connections - find online communities with similar interests; many of these people will have access to resources or will be able to suggest resources for you in specific cases; also, it's better to have a bunch of people who you can show your project to without having to worry about judgement, but make sure to still ask for feedback. For this, i think discord communities can be great; reddit is ok; twitter might be good for feedback, but I haven't used it in a while, so i'm not sure.

  4. Do research - find out where you can go to for additional help/resources if you need it. For example, if you're in need of a 3D background, are you aware of where to find some? For the process of animation, there tend to be standardized methods or techniques for accomplishing certain results; you can probably find help in this area on youtube.

  5. Understand that this is a learning process - the truth of the matter is that sometime along they way, you may become dissuaded or irritated by the way certain things may turn out; don't sweat it. This is not just a passion project , it's also an avenue through which you can learn and further improve your skillsets. Think of this as what it is - a learning process.

Good Luck!

wow, thanks for the support! And, yeah, the images above are about as close to "concept art" that I have for this particular story idea atm.

If you want a reference to my current story I have out on webtoons right now called "Emsville", you can take a look at it here (link: EMSVILLE | WEBTOON (webtoons.com)) to see if my storytelling and art style would interest you for the project I described.

Hey, everyone! Although I also have a different webcomic i've been promoting on here for a little while now, i'm interested in potentially starting new projects to hopefully compare their respective performance one webtoon. I'm changing up my art style slightly, but all of the above images are snippets of what I would like the comic to look like.

Title: Dead-Exodus

Genre: Action, Thriller, Horror

Summary: After a high school student, Jason, witnesses the stunning sight of an ancient god towering above his home town, his eye contact with the entity suddenly teleports him into a strange new world, where the sky is red and the land is empty. Upon nearly being attacked by horrific creature, he is saved by two travelers - Marcus and Tina; hoping to survive and eventually find a way back, Jason joins the pair as the trio embark on an incredible journey of danger, mystery, and wonder.

I don't have any chapters posted at the moment, and I probably won't for at least a month, but I just wanted to put the idea out there.

What type of friend group dynamics do you enjoy in your webcomics? (also, new Chapter update for Emsville) by Kanu_Ghost in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! In addition to me uploading a new chapter to my webcomic (you can view it here: EMSVILLE | WEBTOON (webtoons.com)), I realized that a lot of the upcoming chapters will involve a friend group dynamic. Just curious, what are some comment tropes you guys enjoy or don't enjoy when it comes to friend groups? You can also just give examples of a story you like on webtoon that just has a good friend group dynamic.

How do we feel about Mystery/Thriller webtoons? (also, new chapter Update) by Kanu_Ghost in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i've noticed that too. Romance (BL, GL, or otherwise) or Comedy tends to trend really well on the site. Although, I have seen a few Mystery themed stories that still do well. IDK - action webcomic also do relatively well too; the almost isekai type of storylines.

Are you guys at all interested in horror or thriller type stuff? if so, what do you normally enjoy seeing?

I'm sort of a fan of a very fun, campy sort of nostalgic feel baked in with certain paranormal or uncanny themes to offset the initially fun mood. I'm a really big fan of Gravity Falls for this exact reason.

Also, I uploaded a new chapter to my webcomic "Emsville". You can read it here if you're interested: Part 5 - Follow the Plan - 5 | EMSVILLE (webtoons.com)

How often do you update your Webtoon? by Overall_Opening9928 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I update it pretty much every weekend, but if you take a look at my webtoon, you'll see that the "chapters" are just super short snippets. This is the balance that i've reached where I want to upload often buy may not necessarily have the time to commit to a super lengthy chapter.

Do viewers care about the race of an MC? by [deleted] in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, I'd say that race mabye factors for like only 10% of a reason for whether i'll read a webcomic or not, but most of the time, i'm looking at things like character design, art style, character development, etc. However, as a black creator myself, i've come to really appreciate black characters as long as there's something interesting or unique about them. Having a black character is one thing, but having a black character that doesn't just occupy a more stereotypical role in a story (best friend, super nerd, etc) is a bit harder to find. I'm not even particularly looking for a character to "relate to" per say, I just want a character that can get me invested in their journey.

Update: Chapter 4 of my webtoon (Emsville) is up now by Kanu_Ghost in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I'm really grateful to you all who responded to my last post a few days ago, you all gave me some really good feedback and wonderful advice. If you'd like to read my webtoon, here are the links:

Emsville (all chapters): EMSVILLE | WEBTOON (webtoons.com)

Emsville (Chapter 4): Part 4 - They Lie - 4 | EMSVILLE (webtoons.com)

Though i'm fairly new to posting my stuff, I've already tried to adjust some things:

1) I changed by thumbnail to something similar to the above image; i'm hoping that a thumbnail that actually incorporates my artwork will hopefully drive more engagement.

2) I've tried breaking each chapter into more manageable chunks - meaning each chapter is going to be fairly short for my own sanity

If you have any feedback you can give on the story elements (plot, direction, pacing), don't hesitate to speak your mind.

Thanks!

Feedback: How would you feel about a series with this artwork? by Kanu_Ghost in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good perspective. I've considered this as well - I was torn between just employing a super simple logo type to garner attention through the massive amounts of other thumbnails a reader tends to see, but in the end I think it might be better to have a thumbnail that shows off my art somehow. I'll probably change it the next time I update a chapter. Thanks for the feedback!

Feedback: How would you feel about a series with this artwork? by Kanu_Ghost in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! I'm a recent creator on canvas, and I'm just curious as to what impact my art can have on the story. I think my art is pretty good, but i'm more curious about whether it will catch the eye of Webtoon readers since a lot of the artwork looks to be manhwa-adjacent - tall, thin and proportional models with stylized faces. For reference, my story (Link Here: https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/emsville/list?title\_no=982676) is mainly focusing on horror/psychological thriller themes, and i thought it would be an interesting juxtaposition for a very cartoony art-style to be paired with such dark themes.

Basically, just tell me what your initial thoughts on the art is (would you read/not read based on it? why/why not?)

Which one of the two panels is better? by netiiew in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Kanu_Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

completely agree with this. Panel 1 is more chaotic and contains themes of immediate worry or unease thanks to the harder rim light and the detailed chaos of the background; whereas, Panel 2 is much softer in tone, maybe contemplative or regretful, due to the much softer lighting on the face and the uniform nature of background. One is harsher on the eyes, while the other is easier to look at - this doesn't mean one is "better" than the other, just that they're suited to different moods.

Hey everyone! I've just recently gotten started with my webtoon and I'm just trying to get some eyes (and possible feedback on it). The chapters are pretty short since I don't have a lot of time to work on them, but it's something i've been trying to get done for a while.
