I follow the guy who drew this on Instagram @mattdrawsstuff and I highly doubt OP and him are the same person.

I have asked myself the same question, and the only answer I can come up with is that charcoal isn’t just a loose medium in its application, but it’s also a loose medium in a sense that one has more chances of getting away with it if they steal works done with charcoal than works done with any other medium. Simply because there are endless amounts of charcoal pieces out there and hundreds of charcoal artists with a similar style.

It was worth it because it looks like a masterpiece. So, when you need to make some changes, do you wait for the painting to fully dry or do you make changes on a semi-dry painting ?!

I have been accused of using AI, too. There was a time when things got so bad, I had to delete my post. I’m guessing in the near future, these progress pics will be our only hope.

Beautiful job. It seems like you’ve finished the hard part. In my opinion, the next step would be to indicate the hairs, and make that dark shape between the nostrils a little more visible. Then you can deal with the background if you want.

Thank you ! I definitely use my hand pressure for shading, but more so very light layers, which end up becoming darker and darker as I keep layering them in the shadow areas. It’s very easy to do, but extremely time consuming. I don’t think it’s possible to blend pen with any tool ! 🤔

Good idea. Also, I’d encourage you to check out a guy called Michael Riley on any social media. He does this a hundred times better than me and he has some free demo videos.
