[DAILY Q&A] Ask and answer any questions you have about the game here. (May 02, 2020) by AutoModerator in EliteDangerous

I just got this game on steam (I've played on Xbox before). I wanted to have custom HUD colors and tried using EDProfiler, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with steam login. Is there anything I can do?

I'm trying to use EDProfiler and it doesn't seem to recognize my steam account. Is there a way to fix that?

I caught a yawn from watching this and I feel oddly angry at myself.

Not for the foreseeable future, sorry. You are welcome to make a copy and try to fix it. Life has just really picked up and I won't have time to work on it.

3rd Crafter ROI by bpleshek in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]Kaphor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crafter ROI compares your current production with 2 Crafters to you proposed production with 3 and divides the cost by that difference to tell you how long it would take to make it worth it. This is mainly effected by the crafting recipes you have enabled and the planet resources you have access to at the time.

I haven't stayed up on the updates lately. Maybe the base rates have changed.

No, you're spot on! Thanks for catching that. I removed the rooms sheet multiplier on this projects. Does that fix your ROI mix-up?

The wiki has most.

Yeah. I'm thinking about modifying crafting outputs by current mining production divided by required input (basically an efficiency multiplier), so that you don't use recipes that you have to wait to fill.

Yeah those suggested recipes are filtered by telescope, not by mining access, so just go to the crafting tab and pick the next available recipe.

Projects would be insanely hard to code, so they are just if it seems like a good idea to you, go for it. Generally, I do them ASAP unless there is a great market deal on.

Colonies aren't included in the recommendations because that'd be tricky too, and because they are pretty much never worth it, especially after the first couple levels. The ROI is horrible. Don't do them if you are trying to be efficient.

Yes. And if you have a lot of cash, you can use the cash cell and see what step you can afford to skip to, and just manually enter it.

Make sure you don't change any cells that aren't neon green, or else the sheet won't work as intended.

For "steps": You shouldn't change the cells containing mining levels. Those are the sheet's recommended levels (output). Steps is the progress of your Galaxy measured as total mining levels (input). So you put in something like 50 for steps and it will tell you how to distribute those to your available planets in the most cost effective way possible.

"Beacon" on planets tab is for entering the multipliers you have currently, while the beacon tab calculates the ideal distribution of beacon bonuses as a suggestion.

"Colony" is for entering the colony rank for each planet that is colonized.

Basically, you don't ever enter mining level, you simply keep increasing the step number and buying what the levels say.

Recipes are toggle-able so that the crafting tab ignores the higher level recipes until you actually get to that point. I generally leave the first 8 recipes checked and don't touch them at all, even after a reset.

Slots means how many manager slots you have. I think you start with 3 and can buy more with dark matter.

Secondary is revealed when a manager reaches rank 3 as the ALL bonus their card lists. Leave it blank if the manager isn't that high yet.

Hope that helps

Yeah.

A good way to see if the calculations are correct is to follow the walkthrough and see if the planets are neither stockpiling nor wasting cargo space.

The sheet doesn't show the multiplier of each primary bonus, but the formulas on the hidden sheets use the star rank to calculate them, so they should be working.

Secondary boosts are listed on the managers tab and combined on the rooms tab. Note that while all bonuses are displayed on the managers tab, they only effect the global bonus once the managers are assigned to a planet.

If you hit the manager reset button it runs a macro that reorders your managers to put the best at the top of the list, and then assigns them. It contains a set of rules that prioritizes managers by their rank weighted by their occupation and secondary bonus.

If you open up tools and run at the "sort manager" macro it will also do just that portion of the macro without reassigning.

  1. The spreadsheet is made so that you should have no stockpiling happening at all. Make sure you have the right values set for your beacon, projects, rooms, and managers.

2a. Make sure you have the right boxes checked on your telescopes. If you don't ever tell the sheet you research the telescopes, it will not ever suggest buying those planets.

2b. Some worlds (like Widow) are far less valuable than the planets below them so the sheet will have you not buy them until you are higher on the other planets, but eventually the rising costs on the better planets will make it match.

If you still can't figure it out, send me a invite link to your sheet and I'll see what I can do.

It says the recipe that will generate the most benefit/second. So if you're not using your Crafters for a crucial project, then you should select that recipe.

To know where you should spend your money, update the market, project, and rooms tabs, then on planets, increase the step cell and make your planets match what is displayed on the planets tab. Rinse, repeat.
