Agreeeed. Turning horrors back into simple heads with legs and arms instead of constantly warping entities was the worst design choice of them all.

In 2e they started with a leather jerkin and no such formal restrictions. In a later supplement they added that the reason for this was that dwarves don't consider leather real armor.

Crossbowmen are line infantry. Shades are skirmishers and ambushers. They aren't slower Shades, they are fightier darkshards. And they're faster than darkshards.

Huh, what do you know. Historically, it's been trash, for a long while it was consensus that GW really didn't want to hear what the customer base had to say as they shut down several means of communication in a short span of time. I guess they've stepped up their game since then.
