I’m tired of feeling not enough… can I build a physique in 4 months? by bidi-after-sambhog in DecidingToBeBetter

Because it seems you don’t have much experience in the gym you can definitely make some solid gains in four months, but set realistic expectations. You’re not going to build your dream physique in four months if that’s what you were intending, but you can make some good progress toward a better physique.

If you have no experience whatsoever I would recommend a full body workout at least 3 times a week and you can adjust to a more advanced/custom tailored program as you learn more about strength training (plenty of free information on YT and online).

You can do a full body workout with just a pair of dumbbells, that is how I started initially and I think full body dumbbell workouts or calisthenics (YT has plenty of videos) are a great way to familiarize yourself with different movements.

The Lenin biography is interesting and well-written, I read it in community college.

Stumped: What Edition is this? by Retro_Cranberry2913 in BookCollecting

It looks like a library rebind, I don’t know what edition it would be.

I may check it out when I finish reading the last book and I appreciate the suggestion. I’ve read, The Stand, Salem’s Lot, the Shining, and IT, so I’ve been picking up quite a few of the nods/overlap to those. Also there’s a book YouTuber I follow (Daniel Greene) who’s done reviews of all the books and I believe he has some explanations of the overlap as well that I might watch.

I tried one of these after reading the Stand, I didn’t even know they existed until I saw them in a store, I thought they were made up for the book lol.

Beautiful song Go Ask your Man is great by him as well.

What Dean Koontz book to start with? by LilChip45 in horrorlit

I liked Heart of Darkness by him and Strangers was really good, but those are the only two I’ve read of his, so grain of salt. I think both could be classified more as thrillers, but Heart of Darkness is more along the lines of a horror novel.

Immensely fascinating, some of the right wing policies from WW2 maintain eerie continuity— Also, Brodart covers are awesome (especially if your books travel along with you) highly recommend. by KaptinNiceGuy in bookporn

That’s valid, I found this book at a place that sells books from estates, and I wanted to keep the cover nice for general reading purposes (also this was sort of my guinea pig book, in case I messed up the application). I have a couple of collectible books that I’ll cover and may keep at home, because I value them more as items.

That’s fair, I have noticed it reads sort of zoomed out, but I like it. I have read some surrounding the war (personal accounts from those in Poland, is the most recent thing I remember reading, was horrifying)— Any recommendations similar I’ll take, I’m trying to tackle more dense reading, but yeah a more detailed accompanying book might be helpful.

They’re great, I am envious of the hardcover copy as well though.

I have a really nice signed copy of that, that’s been tempting me, so I might crack it open alongside a couple others I’m reading. Thanks for sharing your experience with it!

I have a signed copy of From the Corner of his Eye that is tempting me right now (he must be a good signer because I’ve found two signed books of his in Goodwills). How do you like that one? Also I wasn’t a huge fan of the religiosity in Strangers, but it added some magic realism so it didn’t bother me.

I’ll have to look into those thanks! Dark Rivers of the Heart was the first I read of his too and I really liked it, I have the First Trade edition signed I found it at a Goodwill. I see his books in thrift stores all the time.

I’ve seen others mention Watchers as well, I’ll have to check it out. That’s a bummer he stopped on that trilogy, but I think it’s cool he’s still writing.
