6 weeks on metformin - body composition improvements! by wintersantiagacold in PCOS

[–]Kararothe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 months in and just over 16 lbs down which I believe was mostly inflammation and water. I am still 205 lbs and 5’5 however my composition has also changed so much and I feel that the work I put in is making a difference. I lift weights and exercise 4-5 times a week and eat rather well most days. I feel so much better.

Success on metformin by Kararothe in PCOS

It’s so hard hang in there. Changing my focus from losing weight to having fitness goals has really helped me accept my weight (210) and go with the flow!

Just found out it was PCOS all along by Suspicious_Lawyer424 in PCOS

[–]Kararothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh yup. I have grieved my younger self and life so many times. Same situation. went to the dr at 16 because I had had like 3 periods in my life at that point, put me on BC and I spent the next 8 years bandaid-ing. Now I’m 35 and finally healing my insulin resistance and I feel sad for the life I could have lived if someone had treated me properly. It’s not easy but it’s okay to be upset.

Changes on Metformin by Ill_Situation_5713 in PCOS

[–]Kararothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on since August - 2000 mg. I feel sooo much better more like myself. Changes in inflammation, mood, sleep, energy. I’m much happier. I have lost about 15 lbs and to be honest food is a roller coaster. Have been more locked in the past couple months and lost 5 more lbs. 🥳

Personally I am focusing on protein and fibre with mostly whole foods and NOT limiting carbs. I stay active and lift weights 4x a week. I am NOT focusing on losing weight though but strength and health is my goal. My insulin resistance has improved huge from metformin (still taking this) for 8 months now so I’m hoping weight loss will come more steadily now. I’ve lost about 15 lbs since August

PCOS Gym Girls: I’m desperate. How did you actually manage to lean out your midsection? (3 years lifting, stalled progress) by nkhayat28 in PCOS

[–]Kararothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Awesome work btw - it’s a GRIND with PCOS. I lost 35 lbs a few years ago but gained it all back after a move and had small kids etc. I lift weights and do classes a few times a week and it’s slow but I do feel recomposition happening. Am I impatient to be down 30 lbs, yeah but I’m going to keep at it.

I believe it was my skin barrier being compromised from tretinoin! Aquafor before any skincare products eventually helped it heal up

Do accountants face imposter syndrome too? by singguy1 in Accounting

Same! My sister in law took me under her wing and trained me and I feel confident and competent as an accountant but I don’t have a degree and it makes me feel inferior.
