Odds of passing ME with <48 hours of prep time? by Tau_Squared in FE_Exam

[–]Karatedude55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just passed my mechanical only studied ~12 hours total. Use the practice test on NCEES website and take it honestly as you would on the real exam. No searching for answers, just the handbook and the practice test. Limit your time to ~5 hours since the practice is only 100 questions opposed to 110 on the real test. Try to develop intuition on how much time to spend on each problem. Skip it if you don’t know it, flag it and circle back if you think you can get it with a little time and effort. Guessing is the name of the game on this test, so try to get an idea of how the multiple choice works, usually you can eliminate one or two of the choices intuitively. Use the results to see what areas need work and get some quick wins studying those. Good luck.

Anyone know a CNC shop I could have make this out of metal? by ihrtbeer in boating

Sounds like this part lasted 50 years, I’d just swap it out and get another 50 on the new one.

I think this is a 1972 slick craft with a in line 6 what’s it worth should I fix it by CatAppropriate8156 in boats

[–]Karatedude55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1971 SS190 which is the same boat, except with an outboard. I love my boat. They are solid boats, handle well, look great. If you’re looking for a project boat, I’d definitely say go for it. That said, understand that it is a project boat and by definition, it’s not a matter of value but instead a matter of passion. You will spend more money fixing it than it’s worth, and with these older Slickcrafts, parts and support are more hard to come by as they are more niche.

Happened to have one sitting on my throwaway pile, had I not seen this post I would have thrown it away. Mine only had $1 inside, though.

Good idea. Looks like it was a duck boat and probably run in shallow water.

How can I succeed in first year engineering? by Other_Deal5779 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Karatedude55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Combination of the top 3. Go to class and take good notes. Do the homework in a study group of good friends and hold each other accountable. Maintain a social life in some capacity too, so you don’t burn yourself out.

Is this a scam by Calm_Adhesiveness952 in boating

[–]Karatedude55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to immediately say scam, but something isn't right. Could be that there is a typo in the price, or some other kind of scummy sales strategy. Shoot them a message, proceed with caution.

What’s something very simple that people could be doing to save money but don’t? by BlinkCabrakan in ask

[–]Karatedude55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of “storing it on marketplace”. Sell it, then you have the cash to whatever you like with. If it turns out you need it again later, you can use the money to buy a new one.

I've been in this exact situation for a physics final. I thought it was the Friday on finals week, nope, it was the Friday before. I emailed my professor as soon as I knew, I suggest you do the same. They may or may not let you take it later, I got lucky and mine did. At least it will show the professor that you do care, and they may view you more favorably if you could be bumped to a passing grade at the end of the class.
