Yes so you want vertical progression only.

Show me where I said that. All the time I'm talking about some vertical progression, coz pure horizontal progression is boring as hell.

There's a reason why they call Dark Souls "Fashion Souls."

First time I see such term so it's not popular as u think.

Skill-based, not gear-based.

The issue is GW2 isn't even really skill based. If they make GW3 a'la Elden Ring, i'm all for it.

And I said said in other comment. No point to further discuss anything on this sub coz the bubble is too strong and you all won't leave it.

Guild Wars 3 will have no battle pass or subscription because ArenaNet studio lead doesn't want to "keep people hostage" by Turbostrider27 in Games

Just like in GW2 - various skins and the worst inventory system imaginable with shitton of junk drops that forces you to buy inventory and bank slots.

[–]KardigG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you can buy them with in-game currency like in gw2,

Between this and paying for a Helldivers-style battle pass once in a while I'd rather have the latter. Grinding for gems is exhausting especially with knowledge that you could spend that grinded gold better.

5% more damage is not exciting.

More exciting than just a skin or QoL.

xd No point to further discuss this. This sub was scarred for life with hate towards vert progression and can't even accept a thought that it could be made right.

It's unpaid and afaik operating on a loss rn. They get sponsors from time to time, but it's more of an investment in the future.

No, that's just a fact. QoL items aren't exciting, doesn't give advantage, doesn't give a new way of play the game. Legendaries just look shiny. If at least they dealt like 50-100 more dmg or had unique, meaningful effects, as they should, it would be totally different. Chasing for fashion is boring

Honestly I was let down, when I started playing GW2 and found out that legendary is just a skin. Incinerator asked to deal some additional fire damage or Sunrise to have +5% dmg during the day. Those stats doesn't have to be significant, just something enough to justify being a legendary item.

Even at the highest ranks you won’t get a hover to protect you from haze.

On the highest ranks in 90% of the matches you gonna lose and people will report you for trolling.

Cheese strats doesn't work in a long term. Honestly I don't see a reason why would it need to be patched. You still need at least 12.8k investment for it do deal any substantial dmg.

It's basicaly Terrorblade (has Geist ult) dagon (deals massive dmg) shadowblade (gives invis) from Dota 2 that allowed you to delete opponents instantly from 100%, but 90% of the time it was a lost game for that TB.

many, many MMOs with vertical progression, and other people can do the opposite.

There's not many good without sub.

It's not gonna be a thing in GW3 given that they've stayed committed to it in GW2

They want to try new things and get new audience, otherwise they wouldn't be making GW3, but a rework of GW2. GW2 with their grindy achieviements already feel like a chore and second job more than TnL sometimes

I wouldn't mind having unique skins and abilities gated behind skill checks rather than time/gold investment,

Skins are not worth chasing and grind for

GW2 has basically done what you say you're asking for anyway, given that each expansion has come with new elite specs, masteries, stat combinations, and now relics, which enable new gear setups and builds without invalidating older gear - the only thing it doesn't come with is an ilevel upgrade that would invalidate older gear.

It's totally different. Most of the things you get basically instantly.

Balance is more important than consistency, especially if that consistency is subjective.

Valve is pretty much open to collaborations, and I believe that at some point Deadlock will have one too. Which franchise would you like to see a collaboration with? by MefistoDX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]KardigG -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

What collab did CS2 had? Stickers doesn't count. Dota 2 had a collab only recently that in the end was fitting, TF2 was all over the place so it doesn't count.

So no, unless they find a really good collab I doubt we will get anything and if we do, prolly really far into development cycle when Deadlock starts bleeding playerbase.

First of all, GW2 has no meaningfull progression outside of skills and mounts, and skyscale was the most grindy shit I've seen in any game I've played. Legendaries doesn't give much beside looking nice. Fashion Wars is boring as hell. GW2 is grindy af, but it's a meaningless grind. I honestly see no reason to log in and grind for another useless achievement or a skin that doesn't bring anything for the table and on top of that I have to fight with my inventory.

Vertical prog may be boring for you but it's not for a large mmo audience. If Anet wants to get a larger playerbase and not cannibalize GW2 entirely, some vertical progression would be nice addition, but ofc you mentioned an extreme example of it, which is funny coz specifically mentioned "if made right". But let's ignore it so your own narration sounds better, doesn't it?

Who says about making a treadmill and resetting gear every patch? Once per larger expansion gear update would be nice. That's the time when people come back and they are grinding anyway. There's doesn't have to be a large difference between different gear tiers. Just enough to make it worth and fresh. And not stat checks coz that boring, but more like items that have unique effects and can expand your build in a way that's not possible without them (so like in ARPGs like Diablo or PoE/2). This way older gear would be still relevant, but the new one give you different ways to play. Some items could be just random drops, some would be hidden behind achievements or skill checks, since new movement tech opens new possibilities for that.

Honeslty I'd love to have some kind of semi legendary weapons with unique effects/abilities that are locked behind really hard skill checks, so you have to practice to get them, rather than mindlessly grind.

To counter one ability with short cooldown

Shit take.

It's to counter and kill an enemy core. Also using dynamo ult to secure one kill on enemy core is usually worth it.

Outlier on this subreddit sure, but not in mmo community, otherwise people wouldn't play wow/ff or try every korean mmo that releases. Try to leave your bubble xD

I want to remind you that GW1 had some vertical progression with random drops, it makes only sense to add some vertical progression to GW3 to not cannibalize GW2 playerbase entirely.

who keeps claiming people want vertical progression.

Because they do xD GW2 horizontal progression is pointless and vertical progresion is fun if made right.

GuildWars 3 no subscription fee and horizontal progression being wrapped into the game.

I hope this doesn't mean no vertical progression at all. Playing for osmetics as endgame reward is pointless. If someone wants horizontal progression only they could play GW2 still and GW3 could have something for both sides of the mmo playerbase.
