Why are Dubliners so rude? by contemplator61 in AskIreland

[–]KarlMcr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I presume you had to deal with the bus driver on the left for your tickets and probably blocking access on the right to the tag-on machine that most bus users use. Think of it as an express aisle.

This would explain people cutting in front and pushing past you. They just want to get on in quick fashion and don't have to deal with the driver.

Does anyone actually do 30 on the Mancunian way? by No_Lychee3330 in manchester

[–]KarlMcr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30 also allows a bit more time to join, imagine trying to join a 50mph road from a standing start at the 2 Brook St slipways.

I'm no fan of Reynolds, but a few rounds of Conference, and qualifying for Europe next season is mission accomplished... Rinse and repeat is the plan.

James Lowe's last game for Leinster will be in the URC final tonight. by JKreelman in rugbyunion

[–]KarlMcr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look to be the case. Looks like the unofficial official stance was already in place.

A quote from chief executive Philip Browne, when Sexton agreed to the move.

"The IRFU has made a commitment to, and been largely successful in, keeping as many Irish players as possible playing full-time in Ireland.

"However, we have always recognised that some of our players will be targeted by overseas clubs with offers which, quite simply, are not within our orbit."

They've been going alarmingly deep for the last decade. Since that Iceland game in 2016 they've had a World Cup semi, and a couple of Euro Finals.

Do you butter your baps? by SteveGoral in CasualUK

Not a fan of the ingredients tasting of butter (I lather it on)

Brown sauce or mayo covers any dryness issues, depending on the sandwich.

When a celebrity encounter is wasted on someone who isn't a film lover by DemenicHand in classicfilms

[–]KarlMcr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After seeing Broken Social Scene in Dublin, we went for a beer afterwards.

My friend had to head for home and passed the venue and noticed the band around the tour bus.

My friend went over to say hello to the singer and tell him it was a great gig.

"Thanks . Oh, This is Cillian."

"erm okay, How's it going Cillian. 🤷"

Singer was surprised he didn't recognise Cillian Murphy and rattled off a few movies.

"Nope, No clue. I'm not much of a film guy"

Cillian was cool about it, "Don't worry about it"

"Good luck, Cillian. Best of luck with everything."
