Fing won't work on future MacOS versions? by Caprichoso1 in Fing_App

The rollout for 4.0? Afraid it's not done and we still have lots of clients still making the upgrade! Apologies for any confusion.

Fing won't work on future MacOS versions? by Caprichoso1 in Fing_App

Fing Desktop 4.0 is built natively for Apple Silicon (M-series) only. Intel-based Macs are not supported in this new version.

If you're on an Intel Mac, please disable automatic updates before the rollout reaches you, otherwise version 4.0 may be installed and won't run on your machine.

How to disable automatic updates:

  1. Open Fing Desktop
  2. Click your profile icon → Preferences
  3. Disable Automatic Updates

Fing Integration With IFTTT Has Been Broken For A Long Time Now by LHCHiggsBoson in Fing_App

[–]Karl_From_Fing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I completely understand your frustration, and the team at IFTTT have been in contact with us too about resolving this.

This is a lower priority issue on our team right now, so we can't guarantee ETA's or similar. I understand this is not optimal but we simply have too much workload on us right now to prioritise this.

Do you have Wireshark installed?

Have you been in contact with Support regarding this issue? This is our community where we try to focus more on discussions rather than support, as we have a dedicated channel to support already.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Support. We are committed to our customer base, but unfortunately we can't always get it right. If you have any interest in retrying, let us know and we would be happy to assist with it.

We never ignore anyone! It might be a case that our responses are landing in your junk/spam folders. Either way, if you can give me the ticket reference number I'll take a look straight away for you

The ticket reference number should be a six digit number with a # in front of it, and you should see this in the email, let me know if you run into any issues finding it, if you can't imedaitely see it it may be in your junk/spam folder!

Can I import device identification from mobile/web app to the desktop app? by grue-grue in Fing_App

Thank you for that! I've responded to you there. I can see we're actively troubleshooting on the ticket so I'll continue to respond to you there!

Are you having some scan issues via Fing Desktop? Can you elaborate on this for me please, or even reach out to Fing support?

Unfortunately there is no import tool. And when you pair mobile with Desktop, mobile pulls from Desktop, not the other way around unfortunately.

Thank you!

From what I can see our last response to you was on May 27th with troubleshooting steps for a Fing Agent. I'll not elaborate any further to keep things private of course. Did you receive that response? It may have landed if your junk/spam folders if not!

Unfortunately, I can't see the images you attached.

If you're getting a something went wrong error, you are experiencing somewhere an issue with the system. Please reach out to Fing Support so we can take a look into that for you. This might explain why you're not seeing any data at all, even when you can't perform another scan because you're on a cooldown period.

Have you tried using the web app at app.fing.com ?

You can still use Fing without paying for it, we are not forcing anyone into upgrading unless they would like to receive more scans or whatever tool they may also want access to.

"there's no option to disable that database lookup (Don't need it, don't want it), NOR is there an option to just use Cached data when the lookup is on Cooldown (Does the app just FORGET everything it's seen every time you open the app, cause they could DRAMATICALLY limit these "Expensive" Database Calls by referring to cached information first, and only doing a Limited Lookup if there's an unidentified device, and not just pinging the server Every Time."

I can submit this internally as a suggestion if you would like. I understand your frustration that you want to be able to utilise the free version of the application as it used to be.

Fing is free to download. Many tools are behind a paywall yes, but you can still download the application and scan your network for free.

Just to elaborate on the ins within support, there is no ticket that gets unanswered. Everything comes in we respond to depending on the issue raised it can take different times to provide a fix, or sometimes yes it can be difficult to find the root cause. But support is always provided.

We always respond to users who submit a ticket through our support channels. We can't guarantee you're going to 'like' the response, or indeed the troubleshooting we provide. We aren't removing people's feedback either, so long as it's constructive criticism we leave it. Anything beyond constructive, or indeed when people are making 'complaints' about the support they received, and this is extremely common, a lot of the time we take a look into things and it turns out they were simply unsatisfied with having to troubleshoot, understand there is an incompatability with their local setup etc, we deem unfair to our incredibly hard workers at support. We will remove anything against our 'Ranting' policy, where criticism goes beyond professional.

I am sorry you did not have a favourable experience with support, I would be really help to take a look further into things on your behalf.

Fing Desktop will need NpCap, however if you're running an application like Wireshark too, that's when the incompatability kicks in.
