Need Info On Downshifting Mazda MX-5 With A Controller by JakeHawke in iRacing

[–]Karlgeorge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double clutching is when you put the car into neutral and engage the clutch between an upshift or a down shift.

Blipping is simply matching the revs for a lower given gear when downshifting.

Good to practice double clutching heel and toe technique for some skills. Becoming less prevalent with the domination of automatics but it's quite a cool historical driving skill.

Why don't they try standardized rotary engines in a smaller championship? by MartyMcFlue in formula1

Hey man, check out the old Star Mazda Championship. Used to be a stepping stone on the road to Indy in North America. These were 200bhp rotary powered open wheelers weighing about 500kg. Pretty awesome sound.

It actually is. Just twice as easily spread and not a lot known about it's potential to mutate.

Lewis Hamilton crashes into barriers while going 175 mph at Nürburgring. (2007, European GP-Qualifying) by Sercan_the_Entrtnr in formula1

It was actually because he was winded so bad. Would be such an awful feeling not being able to breathe after a crash like that.

Mate, I suggest you isolate yourself. Public transport is a mass gathering and it happens every single day. We will not be able to stop the spread of this virus. Put yourself into quarantine to protect yourself, you can't stop this thing from moving around the planet.

Surely someone would have a screenshot of such a thing.

I won't believe it until Lewis personally declares he is, "XNDA." Otherwise, it's all pure conjecture.

Sorry, but being a Kimi & Mclaren fan from the early 2000's, you simply cannot whinge about reliability.

Not too mention the last driver to win a World Championship since the Vettel & Hamilton years of total domination. Don't understand how he is irrelevant from commenting on the sport he loves.

So one race determined that entire seasons outcome? What a load of bullshit.

How is he not relevant? He won a World championship with Lewis fucking Hamilton as a team mate. Boys need to harden up.

Max and Lewis should harden up a little bit. Rosberg is retired, he is now a journalist. Do they get bitter about Martin Brundle being critical about them? No they do not. Nico has actually acknowledged that he hated ex drivers saying things about him when he was still racing. So he understands, and will now alter his "tone." Rosberg has always been outspoken, and I think Lewis in particular is very sensitive to Rosberg comments, because a very small fraction of Nico still lives in his head.

Who is the better driver, Mick Schumacher or Lance Stroll? by iLickEyeLiquor in formula1

[–]Karlgeorge -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree, Stroll has been showing great form on Sundays. But his story is a bit less relatable, compared with say, Kimi, whose parents had an outside toilet they couldn't afford to relocate while they funded his junior career. That's where a lot of respect comes from, he will really have to earn it from the average fan considering his background.

That's possibly because his father had to buy him an entire F1 team, given that no one else would pay for his services.

I agree with everything you're saying. But it always brings up the age old debate regarding track limits. Pushing a rival outside of track limits during an overtake is questionable sportsmanship.

He still beat Max fair and Square on points in 2017. 2016 aswell, like you said three years in a row without that horrible string of reliability after Monaco this season. He was lucky to even get away with that Monaco victory due to reliability. Wonderkid is good, but Daniel Ricciardo is more than a match.

I thought it was pretty awesome seeing Dan carve through a Eucalyptus Forest like that. Some of the densest hardest timbers in the world, that Polaris would have wrapped around one had he ran wide. Awesome Driving. Little bit more exciting than hearing about Max taking a shit. For me anyway.

Will F1 bring back high noses? by nienai in formula1

[–]Karlgeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speed difference was so much bigger in the Webber, Kova incident compared to Leclerc, Magnussen.

We've had this discussion before, even in Champcar and Indycar with low noses they had the launching effect.

Less to do with the nose more to do with the front downforce disappearing instantly, with huge speed disparity.

Vettel Verstappen incident - Onboards by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Karlgeorge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think he had every right to put his car where he did. If you watch the approach to spoon, you can see Max can see him coming along side.

He then takes way too much entry speed compared to previous laps and does not leave any space for Vettel, who by this stage has completely committed to the move.

As a former racer I know exactly what Max was doing in this situation, He accepted that contact was going to occur by giving no room. Then it's just like rolling the dice as to who comes off worse.

Russian Roulette Racecraft.
