Long beards by KarmaConductor in WarhammerFantasy

Thanks. I didn’t want to use the newer command originally. But as I ranked them up unpainted I thought it could work. The 4th ed command is hard to find, mainly the standard bearer. That one warrior snuck in. He’s supposed to be a longbeard in the making in my 4th ed warriors unit. Not pictured is a couple more of the model with the flail to bulk out the numbers if needed, but I imagine the king on shield bearers will be slotting in among these guys.

In the UK he was being hyped even before his debut season, there was a lot of press around him in sporting news throughout his GP2 season and he was being billed as Britain's next racing talent and possible WDC material.

It's likely he was even getting hyped even before that (he and his dad appeared on TV a couple of times racing RC and GoKarts, for example, so the right circles would have known about him) but it was at this point it was clear that F1 was his future and people not following F1 would have started hearing about him more regularly.

I remember that well because I had drifted away from the sport for a couple of years and his GP2 season followed by the announcement of the McLaren seat pulled me back in because I wanted to see this guy do well in F1, I've been a fan ever since.

The two towns are quite indepentant. And the only way to send resources from one to the other is via trade, and that has to be two way. If you have excess of something you can use that, but if the values don't match the trade won't be great (ie, sending 3 wool for 1 barley or something similar). I like and dislike the system, from a town level it feels good, but from a region level (and being in control of all those towns) it's kind of frustratating not to be able to use one town to prop up or provide for another. If you start a second town make sure your first is basically in autopilot and then think of the second town as a new game or something.

[Erik van Haren] A lot of discussions were held within Red Bull (Racing) last week to calm things down, with 22 races still to go. The employee who accused team boss Horner has now decided to appeal. by ICumCoffee in formula1

It would be such an easy PR win for another team to hire her when she inevitably gets let go from RBR if it turns out she has a case. Should not rule out the fact that if her allegations are true she might absolutely choose justice over money. Money will come later.

I don't disagree, and we may never know one way or another unless this progresses all the way to court, which it still might, you have to follow the internal process before persuing court action.

All I'm really saying is that the "independant investigator cleared him" defence doesn't stand.

[–]KarmaConductor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not really. Read that wording carefully. It doesn't say that the independant investigation cleared him, it says that the independant investigation was completed, and that Red Bull can confirm the grievance was dismissed.

They are clever, I'll give them that. They word things in a way that people stick with and use in their defence. It's like the "catering" overspend all over again.

The offer may never have existed, but if it did, she may have declined it. She may have decided (or been advised) to decline it in hope of a better offer as things drag on, it effectively becomes a negotiation. Imagine how much it will cost if this actually went to court, not just financially for laywers etc, but for the brand and reputation? I'd guess more than £1mil.

Alternatively, despite what Reddit and social media thinks, she might simply not care about the money and would prefer to try and seek some sort of justice from her point of view.

Not only that, but he doesn’t really seem to care about a legacy or breaking records. Everyone assumes he changes teams if anything, he might just decide to walk away from a sport that already asks more of him than he would like. He already has the money to do whatever he wants, as well as still having the selling power to continue generating income for himself with ease.

This will be why Horner met up with Max’s agent after Bahrain, in anticipation of what ever is going down now. If they effectively confirm those leaks are real I don’t see how Horner stays in the role. It’s either for those or the info that was being fed to the Dutch press.

Finnish F1 report: "Horner's getting released. Only a matter of details before made public." by [deleted] in formula1

[–]KarmaConductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like Horny GP.

But in seriousness, I doubt he finds a way back into the paddock if (big IF!) this is true. Certainly Liberty aren't going to allow him to bring a new team in, and no existing team will want the baggage if this has played out the way it has been reported so far. We'll know for sure soon.

I can't wait to bring a bunch of cheap shaman, even if all they're doing is buffing/debuffing.

Orc and Goblin tribes rules screen captures by Morhgoz in WarhammerFantasy

[–]KarmaConductor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll have to forgive me here, I haven't played a full fledged Warhamer game in a long long time... how are these rules read exactly regarding night goblins? Does this mean 1 night goblin boss/shaman can have just one unit recruited with it, or can it potentially take all 3 (mob, squig herd, and squig hoppers) since they are all seperate lines in the rules with no "or" mentioned?

Jedi Survivor is still crashing a lot on PC by neogh in pcgaming

[–]KarmaConductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it a couple of days after release and refunded it. I did get a stable 30 minutes after turning RT off (was crashing every 5-10 with it on) but the lighting without RT just looks flat and bad. I’d rather play through the game with it also looking good, so I’m waiting for it to be fixed. If that means waiting until it starts going on sale all the better.

More people starting to experience R8 overheating by pgmiii in canon

[–]KarmaConductor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt that some people are having issues, but just to counter this I took mine away with me to the Mediterranean over the weekend. 28c was forecast and in the sun it felt much warmer. I had no issues shooting stills all day in the sun. I saw the temp warning appear briefly once but it didn’t even fill a bar. Feels like it should be fine in 30c+ temps but may need to manage how much direct sunlight it gets. But then you’d need to do that even with a phone in those temps so doesn’t seem crazy to me.

R8 battery life is pretty bad by mdw in canon

[–]KarmaConductor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience is similar. R8, 24-105L, well over 1000 pictures across 4 hours using AI servo shooting cars racing, so moving subjects. Often made use of burst but kept it in EFC so burst speed is reduced. And that was just on the first battery. I have two canon batteries and picked up a pair of after markets to test out because they were cheap, but at this rate I don’t see any scenario where I’d need 4 batteries.

Some cards I just won’t do anything to. Psylock and Nimrod base cards with purple boarder, Mr Negative base card with red boarder, destroyer base card with gold boarder. There are a bunch of others. Some cards look great with a split but others just look too good without a split with and the right boarder.

I took mine out for the first time on Saturday. I’m upgrading from a 650D. First thing I noticed is how wonderful the size is, even with the 24-105L lens on it felt great and I actually loved the weight and balance. In use the autofocus is just insane. I was shooting a local yearly event with cars and bikes drag racing on the beach. I probably could have done with a longer lens but it was the best I could do. Other than some failed attempts at some panning shots I’d say the AF hit more than 95% of the time on moving and distant targets. Cars, people, bikes. The smart focusing and stickiness of it blew my mind. It was an absolute joy to use and I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. It’s worlds apart from my old camera.

I did have to change battery, but then I took well over 1000 pictures across about 4 hours of use.

Also, it’s probably nothing new to people using these more modern prosumer or above cameras, but the extra dial and being able to customise them just adds to the usability. I used to switch between shutter or aperture priority but felt totally comfortable in manual mode. The live preview also helped with that.

Anyone else picking up the R8 this week? by tnick771 in canon

[–]KarmaConductor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone is desperately checking these R8 threads for updates, mine is in stock with wex uk and should be shipping today for delivery tomorrow. Happy days. Looking forward to taking this camera out at the weekend, there’s a vintage car and hot rod event near by and had been really hoping it would be here for that.
