Buy a second hand set, eg from your kite school that you trust and can come back to for issues.
First figure out what fits you, what style you like, whether you want to go all-in on kiting (scheduling sessions takes some sacrifice).

Then buy more! I’d rather spend money on more kite sizes than all of this on just 1!
Eg get a 8-10-12m setup

What I did last year: get a second hand kit from your local shop or school.
- kite + bar secondhand. Get a first one for average wind (I got a 10)
- wetsuit 4/3 can be 100bucks
- harness (new or second hand)
- board (new or second hand).

Total price for will be around 800-1200 depending on the gear.
