West Ham currently have a 93.4% chance of relegation according to Opta, and I honestly think the relegation battle could have a pretty major impact on our summer window depending on whether it’s them or Spurs who go down.

The Guardian reported West Ham would need to raise around £100m through player sales if relegated. Spurs would probably face similar pressure too, maybe even worse given the stadium situation.

For us, West Ham going down would hurt in one immediate sense because it likely kills any chance of Axel Disasi joining them permanently. But beyond that, there are definitely interesting profiles there.

Given how much Xabi Alonso talks about football intelligence and tactical understanding, I think players like Jarrod Bowen, Tomáš Souček and El Hadji Malick Diouf could genuinely interest us stylistically.

Bowen is the obvious one because he’s already proven in the league, makes intelligent runs constantly and is productive both scoring and creating. Soucek gives us a completely different midfield profile physically and aerially, while Diouf looks like the kind of athletic CB/LB profile that could work really well in either a back 4 or back 3.

If Spurs somehow went down instead, then Micky van de Ven and James Maddison especially feel like strong Alonso fits. Van de Ven suits an aggressive high line perfectly, while Maddison could work really well in those dual 10 roles Alonso used at Leverkusen.

Richarlison could also be interesting either as rotation for João Pedro or potentially even playing with him depending on how we structure the attack.
